Each time you press ECHO, the echo level 
changes as follows:
To cancel the echo effect, select “ECHO OFF.”
Note If howling occurs: 
– move the microphone away from the speakers. 
– lower the microphone volume or echo level.

when:
– you turn off the power.
– you change the function.
– the disc tray is opened.
– you stop playback.
– the title or track changes.
– you change the album.
– the play item is changed during PBC playback.
– you perform Scan Play.
– you cancel karaoke mode.
– the DVD layer is changed.
 This function does not affect TV sound if the system 
and TV are connected with the HDMI cable and 
system sound is output from the TV.

Note Depending on the discs, you may not be able to 
change the guide vocal channel.
 The channel returns to the default setting when:
– you turn off the power.
– you change the function.
– the disc tray is opened.
– AUDIO stream is changed.
– you cancel karaoke mode.
– you set Karaoke Pon mode to on.Using the Sound Effect
You can reinforce bass frequencies.
Press DYNAMIC BASS.
“D. BASS ON” appears in the front panel

Changing the Input Level 
of the Sound from 
Connected Components
Distortion may occur when you listen to a 
component connected to the TV/VIDEO jacks 
on the rear panel, or to the AUDIO IN jack on 
the front panel. Distortion is not a malfunction 
and will depend on the component connected.
To prevent distortion, reduce the input level on 
the unit.
1Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “TV/
VIDEO” or “AUDIO” appears in the 
front panel display.

Changing the Brightness 
of the Front Panel 
Display
You can set the brightness of the front panel 
display to either of 2 levels.
1Press SYSTEM MENU.
2Press X/x repeatedly until “DIMMER” 
appears in the front panel display, then 
press  or c.
3Press X/x to select the brightness of 
the front panel display.
 “DIMMER OFF”: The front panel display 
is bright.
 “DIMMER ON”: The front panel display 
is dark.
4Press .
The setting is made.
5Press SYSTEM MENU.

Note The system can only display the first level of the 
DVD/CD text, such as the disc name or title.
 If a file name of the MP3 file cannot be displayed, “*” 
will appear in the front panel display instead.
 The disc name or track name may not be displayed 
depending on the text.
 Playing time of MP3 files and video files may not be

To check DATA CD/DATA DVD 
(MP3 file/video file) text
By pressing DISPLAY while playing MP3 files 
or video files on a DATA CD/DATA DVD, you 
can display the name of the folder/MP3 file/
video file, and the audio bit rate (the amount of 
data per second of the current audio) on the TV 
screen.
Example for playback of an audio file
* Appears when playing an MP3 file on a DATA CD/
DATA DVD.
** If an MP3 file has the ID3 tag, the system will 
display an album name or title name from the ID3

Returning to the Default 
Settings
1Press "/1 to turn on the system.
2Press x, N, and "/1 on the unit at the 
same time.
“COLD RESET” appears in the front panel 
display and the system returns to default 
settings.
You can return the [SETUP] settings (page 50) 
other than [PARENTAL CONTROL] to the 
default settings.
1Press FUNCTION repeatedly until 
“DVD” appears in the front panel 
display.
2Press   DISPLAY while the system is

Precautions
On power sources
 Unplug the unit from the wall outlet (mains) if you do 
not intend to use it for an extended period of time. To 
disconnect the cord, pull it out by the plug, never by 
the cord.
On placement
 Place the system in a location with adequate 
ventilation to prevent heat build-up in the system.
 At high volume, over long periods of time, the cabinet 
becomes hot to the touch. This is not a malfunction.
