51 ENGLISHEN 3.6 CONTROL KNOBS, FIG. 5 1. Screw the nut (J) onto the gear lever. 2. Mount the control knob (K) onto the gear lever. 3. Tighten the nut on the underside of the control knob. 3.7 GEAR LEVER, SE FIG. 6 Set the gear lever in a suitable position to simple assemble the ball-and-socket joint (L) into the hole in the lever (M). Assemble the washer and tighten with the nut supplied. 3.8 CHECKING THE CONTROL WIRES The control wires might need adjusting before using the snow thrower for the first time. See ADJUSTING THE CONTROL WIRES below. 3.9 TYRE PRESSURE Check the air pressure in the tyres. Correct air pressure: 1.0 – 1.2 bar. 4 CONTROLS See figures 7-13. 4.1 STOP SWITCH (1) To start the engine, the stop switch shall be set in position “ON”. The engine will stop when the switch is set in position “OFF”. 4.2 CHOKE (2) Used when starting a cold engine: The choke has two positions: 1. The choke is open 2. The choke is closed (for cold starting) 4.3 PRIMER (3) Pressing the rubber prime-starter squirts fuel into the carburettor intake pipe to make it easier to start a cold engine. 4.4 IGNITION KEY (4) Must be fully inserted or the engine will not start. Do not turn the key! 1. Key fully inserted – engine can start. 2. Key pulled out – engine cannot start. 4.5 STARTING HANDLE (5) Manual cord start with rewinding 4.6 DIPSTICK (6) For filling and checking the oil level in the engine. The dipstick has two level marks: FULL = maximum oil level ADD = minimum oil level 4.7 FILLER CAP (7) a. For filling with petrol.4.8 OIL DRAINING PLUG (8) For draining the old engine oil when changing the oil. 4.9 START BUTTON – ELECTRICAL START (9) Activates the electric starting motor. 4.10 ELECTRIC CABLE – ELECTRICAL START (10) Supplies power to the starting motor. Connect the cable to a 220/230 volt earthed socket via an earthed extension lead. It is wise to use an earth fault breaker. 4.11 GEAR LEVER (11) The machine has 6 forward gears and 2 reverse to regulate the speed. The gear stick must not be moved if the driving clutch lever is depressed. 4.12 CLUTCH LEVER- DRIVING (12) Engages the wheels when put into gear and the lever is pushed towards the handle. Situated on the left side of the handle. 4.13 CLUTCH LEVER- AUGER (13) Connects the auger and fan when the lever is pushed down towards the handle. Situated on the right side of the handle. 4.14 CHUTE DEFLECTOR (14) Loosen the wing nut and set the height of the deflector (fig 9). Lowered – shorter throwing distance. Raised – longer throwing distance. 4.15 ADJUSTMENT LEVER (17) Changes the direction of the discharged snow. 1. Turn the lever clockwise – the discharge turns to the right. 2. Turn the lever anti-clockwise – the discharge turns to the left. 4.16 SHOES (16) Used to set the height of the auger housing above the ground. 4.17 BAND LOCKING (18) See fig. 12. Only valid for SNOW TRACK To make it easier to move the machine with the motor stopped, the driving bands can be disconnected. The following two positions can be set: The driving bands disconnected Move the locking pins (1) to their outer positions on both sides. The driving bands connected Move the locking pins to their inner positions so they are going through both the hubs and axles.
52 ENGLISHEN 4.18 BAND TILT (19) See fig. 13. Only valid for SNOW TRACK To press down the auger further at hard and packed snow, the bands can be tilted backwards. Aktivating the band tilt Lift the handlebar until the bands are locked in tilted position. Resetting the band tilt Lift the handlebar and press down the pedal pedalen (19) until the bands are locked in their normal position. 4.19 CHUTE CLEARING TOOL (15, FIG. 7/8) The chute clearing tool is located in a holder on top of the au- ger housing. The chute clearing tool must always be used when cleaning the discharge chute and augur. Always stop the engine before clearing the chute. Never clear the snow discharge chute with your hand. Risk of serious injury. Use the chute clearing tool supplied. 5 USING THE SNOW THROWER 5.1 GENERAL Never start the engine until all the above measures under ASSEMBLY have been carried out. Never use the snow thrower without first reading and understanding the instructions and all the warning and instruction stickers on the machine. Always use protective goggles or a visor during use, maintenance and service. 5.2 BEFORE STARTING Fill the engine with oil before using. Do not start the engine until filled with oil. The engine can be seriously damaged without oil. 1. Place the machine on a level floor. 2. Loosen the dipstick (6) and read the oil level. See fig. 11. 3. The oil level shall be between the marks “ADD” and “FULL”. See fig. 11. 4. If necessary fill with oil up to the FULL mark. See fig. 11. 5. Use good quality oil marked A.P.I service SF, SG or SH. Use SAE 5W30 oil. Use SAE OW30 oil for temperatures under -18° C. Do not use SAE 10W40. 5.3 FILL UP THE PETROL TANK Always use lead-free petrol. Oil-mixed 2-stroke petrol must not be used. NOTE! Bear in mind that ordinary lead-free petrol is perishable; do not purchase more petrol than can be used within thirty days. Environmental petrol can be used, i.e. alkylate petrol. This type of petrol has a composition that is less harmful for people and nature.Petrol is highly inflammable. Always store fuel in containers that are made especially for this purpose. Store the petrol in a cool, well ventilated place – not in the house. Store the petrol well out of reach for children. Only fill or top up with petrol outdoors, and never smoke when filling or topping up. Fill with fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the filler cap or fill with petrol while the engine is running or still warm. Do not fill the petrol tank right to the top. d. After filling, screw the filler cap on tightly and wipe up any spilt petrol. 5.4 STARTING THE ENGINE (WITHOUT ELECTRICAL START) 1. Make sure the driving and auger clutch levers are disengaged. See fig. 7/8. 2. Push the throttle to position . 3. Put in the ignition key. Ensure it clicks tight. Do not turn the key! 4. Turn the choke to position . Note: A warm engine does not need the choke (fig. 5. Press the rubber primer-start 2 or 3 times. Make sure the hole is covered when pressing the primer-start (fig. 9). Note: Do not use this function when the engine is warm. 6. Pull on the starter cord until you feel resistance. Start the engine with a sharp pull. 7. When the engine starts, turn the choke anti-clockwise until it is fully open. Never run the machine indoors. The exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a very toxic gas. 5.5 STARTING THE ENGINE (WITH ELECTRICAL START) 1. Attach the connecting cable to an earthed extension lead. Then connect the extension lead to a 220/230 volt earthed socket. 2. Make sure the driving and auger clutch levers are disengaged. See fig. 7/8. 3. Set the stop switch (1) to position “ON”. 4. Put in the ignition key. Ensure it clicks tight. Do not turn the key! 5. Turn the choke to position . Note: A warm engine does not need the choke (fig. 6. Press the rubber primer-start 2 or 3 times. Make sure the hole is covered when pressing the primer-start (fig. 9). Note: Do not use this function when the engine is warm. 7. Starting the engine: a. Press the start button to activate the starting motor. b. When the engine starts, release the start button and open the choke by slowly turning the choke lever anti- clockwise to position . c. If the engine stutters, close the choke immediately and gradually open it again. d. First pull out the extension lead from the socket. Then remove the extension lead from the engine.
53 ENGLISHEN Note: The electrical starting motor has overload protection. The motor stops automatically when overheated. It will not restart until it has cooled, which takes about 5 - 10 minutes. 8. When the engine starts, turn the choke anti-clockwise until it is fully open. Never run the machine indoors. The exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a very toxic gas. 5.6 STOPPING 1. Release both clutch levers. Note. If the snow thrower continues rotating - see ADJUSTING THE CONTROL WIRES below. 2. Push the throttle to idling position . Let the engine run on idle a few minutes to melt the snow. 3. Remove the ignition key. Do not turn the key! If the machine is left unattended, stop the engine and remove the ignition key. 5.7 STARTING 1. Start the engine as above. Let the engine run a few minutes to warm before use. 2. Set the chute deflector. 3. Turn the adjustment lever and set the deflector to throw the snow in the direction of the wind. 4. Set the gear lever to a suitable position. The gear stick must not be moved if the driving clutch lever is depressed. 5. Press down the auger clutch lever (13 in fig. 7/8) to activate the auger and discharge fan. Watch out for rotating auger. Keep hands, feet, hair and loose clothing away from any moving parts on the machine. 6. Press down the auger clutch lever (12 in fig. 7/8). The snow thrower now moves forward or backwards depending on the gear you have chosen. 5.8 DRIVING TIPS 1. Always run the engine on full throttle or next best. The silencer and surrounding parts become very hot when the engine is running. Risk of burns. 2. Always adapt the speed to the snowy conditions. Regulate the speed with the gear stick not the throttle. 3. Snow is more effectively removed directly after falling. 4. Always throw the snow in the direction of the wind if possible. 5. Adjust the shoes with the screws (A in fig. 1) to suit the ground conditions: - On flat ground, e.g. asphalt, the shoes should be about 3mm under the scraping blade. - On uneven ground, e.g. gravel paths, the shoes should be about 30mm under the scraping blade. Always adjust the shoes so that gravel and stones are not fed into the snow thrower. There is a risk for personal injury if these are thrown out at high speed. Ensure the shoes are adjusted the same on both sides. 6. Adapt the speed so that the snow is thrown in an even stream.If snow fastens in the chute do not try to remove it before: - Releasing both clutch levers. Stopping the engine. Removing the ignition key. - Disconnecting the starting cable from the spark plug. - Do not put your hand inside the chute or auger. Use the chute clearing tool supplied. 5.9 AFTER USE 1. Check for loose or damaged parts. If required, change damaged parts. 2. Tighten loose screws and nuts. 3. Brush all the snow from the machine. 4. Move all the controls backwards and forwards a few times. 5. Put the choke in position 6. - Disconnecting the starting cable from the spark plug. Do not cover the machine while the engine and silencer are still warm. 6 MAINTENANCE 6.1 OIL CHANGE Change the oil the first time after 2 hours of operation, and subsequently every 25 hours of operation or once a season. Change oil when the engine is warm. The engine oil may be very warm if it is drained off directly after the engine is shut off. So allow the engine to cool a few minutes before draining the oil. 1. Lean the snow thrower slightly to the right so that the oil draining plug is the lowest point of the engine. 2. Unscrew the oil draining plug. 3. Let the oil run out into a container. 4. Screw back the oil draining plug. 5. Fill with new oil: See BEFORE STARTING above for type. Oil amount in the crankcase: 0.8 litre 6.2 SPARK PLUG Check the spark plug once a year or every hundred hours of use. Clean or change the plug if the electrodes are burnt. The engine manufacturer recommends: Champion RC12YC. Correct spark gap: 0.7/-0.8 mm 6.3 CARBURETTOR The carburettor is factory set. If adjustment is required, contact an authorised service station.
54 ENGLISHEN 7 LUBRICATION No service must be carried out before: The engine has stopped. The ignition key has been removed. - The starting cable has been disconnected from the spark plug. If the instructions say that the machine is to be lifted at the front and rested on the auger housing then the petrol tank must be emptied. Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container designed for petrol. 7.1 DISCHARGER Lubricate the discharger flange and the adjustment lever worm gear every 5th hour of use and before long time storage. 7.2 THE AUGER SHAFT Lubricate the auger shaft lubricating nipples with a grease gun every 10th hour of use (fig 13). Always lubricate the shaft when changing the shear bolts. Dismantle the bolts for long time storage. Lubricate with the grease gun and then rotate the auger freely on the shaft before replacing the bolts. Note: The SNOW MASTER does not have lubricating nipples on the auger. Lubricate by removing the bolts. 7.3 WORM GEAR The worm gear if filled with special lubricant at the factory. Refilling is not normally required. Loosen the plug once a year and check if the worm gear contains lubricant (fig 15). If it is leaking or has been repaired it must be refilled with lubricant. The worm gear holds 92 grams of lubricant at the most. Use Shell Darina 1, Texaco Thermatex EP1, Mobiltem 78, Benalene #372 Grease or similar. 7.4 HEXAGONAL SHAFT The hexagonal shaft, chain sprocket and chains are not to be lubricated. All bearings and bushings are permanently lubricated and require no maintenance. Lubricating these parts will only result in the grease getting on to the friction wheel and disc drive plate, which could damage the rubber clad friction wheel. For long time storage the above-mentioned parts should be lightly wiped with an oily rag to prevent rust. 8 SERVICE AND REPAIRS No service must be carried out before: The engine has stopped. The ignition key has been removed. - The starting cable has been disconnected from the spark plug. If the instructions say that the machine is to be lifted at the front and rested on the auger housing then the petrol tank must be emptied. Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container designed for petrol. 8.1 ADJUSTING THE SCRAPER BLADE The scraper blade gets worn after a lot of use. Adjust the scraper blade (always together with the shoes) The scraper blade is reversible so can be used on both sides. 8.2 ADJUSTING THE DRIVE BELTS The drive belts should be checked (and adjusted if required) for the first time after 2 – 4 hours use and then the middle of each season. They should thereafter be checked twice a year. When the belts are adjusted or changed, the control wires must also be adjusted (see below). 8.2.1 THE DRIVE BELT FOR DRIVING (A in Fig. 16) The belt has a spring-loaded tension pulley. Adjustment is not required. If the belt slips, change it. 8.2.2 THE AUGER DRIVE BELT (B in Fig. 16) 1. Remove the belt protective cover (1) by loosening the screws (2). See fig. 17. 2. Loosen the tension-pulley (C) and move it about 3mm towards the belt (fig. 16). 3. Tighten the tension pulley nuts. 4. Check the belt tension by pressing down the auger clutch lever. With a finger, you should be able to push the belt about 12 - 13 mm without any great power (fig 19). 5. Repeat the above procedure if further adjustment is required. 6. Reassemble the belt protection. See fig 17. 8.3 REPLACING BELTS The belts are specially designed for this machine. They must be replaced by new genuine belts provided by your retailer or authorised service station. When the belts are adjusted or replaced, the control wires must also be adjusted (see below). 8.3.1 THE AUGER BELT 1. Remove the spark plug protection. 2. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2). See fig 20. 3. Remove the belt protective cover (1) by loosening the screws (2). See fig. 17. 4. Loosen the belt guide (D) at the engine belt disc. See fig. 16. 5. Remove the tension pulley (C) from the belt. See fig. 16.
55 ENGLISHEN 6. Replace the belt (E in fig. 16). NOTE! Only genuine STIGA belts are to be used. 7. Adjust the belt tension according to the above instructions. 8. Assemble the belt guide (D) in fig 16. 9. Adjust the belt tension according to the above instructions. 10. Reassemble the belt protection. 11. Adjust the control wire according to the below instructions. 8.3.2 THE DRIVING BELT 1. Carry out items 1-5 above. 2. Remove the locking ring (17) from the swing plate shaft (18). See fig 23. Pull out the shaft so that the swing plate (20) can tip forward. See fig 23. 3. Remove the spring (16 in fig 23). 4. Replace the belt (13 in fig. 23). NOTE! Only genuine STIGA belts are to be used. 5. Check that the tension pulley (12) is in line with the belt (13). See fig 23. 6. Reassemble the spring (16), shaft (18) and locking ring (17). 7. Check that the underside of the disc drive plate (20) is situated between the marks (19). See fig 21. NOTE! If the machine still does not drive properly, recheck the location of the disc drive plate (20). 8. Adjust the belt tension according to the above instructions. 9. Assemble the belt guide (D) in fig 16. 10. Adjust the belt tension according to the above instructions. 11. Reassemble the belt protection. See fig 17. 8.4 ADJUSTING THE BELT GUIDE 1. Remove the spark plug protection. 2. Remove the belt protective cover (1) by loosening the screws (2). See fig. 17. 3. Activate the auger clutch lever (13 in fig 7/8). 4. Check the distance between the belt guide and the belt. The distance should be 3 mm. See fig 18. 5. If adjustment is required, loosen the screw to the belt guide and set the correct distance. 6. Tighten the screw properly. 7. Reassemble the belt protection. 8. Reassemble the spark plug protection. 8.5 ADJUSTING THE CONTROL WIRES When the belts are adjusted or replaced, the control wires must also be adjusted (see below). 1. Unhook the wire from the clutch lever (fig. 24). 2. Push the clutch lever forward as much as possible (until it touches the plastic protection on the handle). 3. Hold the wire stretched and note the position of the wire’s Z-shaped end.4. When the wire is correctly adjusted its end should be situated in the middle of the hole in the clutch lever (fig. 24). If adjustment is required: 5. Lift the snow thrower forward and rest in on the auger housing. 6. Push the wire through the spring so that the threaded part is exposed (fig 22). 7. Hold the threaded part and adjust the nut up or down until the correct setting is obtained. 8. Pull the wire through the spring again. Hook the wire into the upper part of the clutch lever. 9. Same adjustment for both sides. 10. Start the snow thrower and check that it does not rotate when the clutch lever is up (= disengaged).If it does, contact an authorised service station. 8.6 FRICTION WHEEL If the snow thrower does not move forward the problem could be the driving belt, driving control wire or friction wheel. Check the friction wheel as follows. 8.6.1 CHECKING THE FRICTION WHEEL 1. Remove the spark plug protection. 2. Lift the snow thrower forward and rest in on the auger housing. 3. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2). See fig 202. 3. Put the gear stick in bottom forward gear (one). 4. Measure the distance A between the friction wheel and the outside of the side plate in fig. 25. The distance should be 109.5 mm. 5. Adjustments are carried out as follows. 6. Reassemble in the reverse order. 8.6.2 ADJUSTING THE FRICTION WHEEL Dismantle the parts and measure according to the instructions in items 1-4 above. 1. Loosen the screws and set the friction wheel until the measurement in item 4 above is obtained. 2. If the friction wheel is so worn that adjustments cannot be carried out satisfactorily, replace in accordance with the following instructions. 3. Otherwise reassemble in the reverse order after adjusting. 8.6.3 REPLACING THE FRICTION WHEEL (TRACK) 1. Dismantle the right wheel from the shaft. 2. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2). See fig 20. 3. Remove the screw holding the chain sprocket (12) and pull out the shaft (11) and remove the chain sprocket (12). See fig 26. 4. Dismantle the two bearing mountings (16 in fig 21). 5. Dismantle the shaft and bearing mountings. Note the location of the two washers (17 in fig 28). 6. Replace the friction wheel on its hub (fig. 29). 7. Reassemble all the parts in the reverse order. Note the following when reassembling:
56 ENGLISHEN - Check that the washers (17 in fig. 28) are correctly placed. - Check that the washers (13 in fig. 28) are correctly placed. - Check that the shaft (8 in fig. 29) rotates freely. - Check that the friction wheel and disc drive plate are totally free from oil and grease. 8.6.4 Byte av friktionshjulet (FLAKE, POWER) 1. Disassemble the differential, see 8.7.2. 2. Dismantle the two bearing mountings (16 in fig 18). 3. Dismantle the shaft and bearing mountings. Note the location of the two washers (17 in fig 23). 4. Replace the friction wheel on its hub (fig. 29). 5. Reassemble all the parts in the reverse order. Note the following when reassembling: - Check that the washers (17 in fig. 28) are correctly placed. - Check that the washers (13 in fig. 28) are correctly placed. - Check that the shaft (8 in fig. 29) rotates freely. - Check that the friction wheel and disc drive plate are totally free from oil and grease. 8.7 DIFFERENTIAL (FLAKE, POWER) 8.7.1 Description In the differential the drive force is transferred from the chain drive to the right and left shafts via two free wheels, one for each shaft. This means that the outer wheel can rotate faster than the in- ner wheel on bends. With the differential the snow thrower is as easy to drive around bends as straight forward. The differential also makes the snow thrower easier to handle on hard surfaces, for example in the garage or in the store. 8.7.2 Replacing the differential (FLAKE, POWER) See fig. 31. The differential (A) is replaced according to the following instructions: 1. Lift the snow thrower forward and rest in on the auger housing. 2. Disassemble the wheels. 3. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2). See fig. 20. 4. Disassemble the bearing housings (B) with bearings at both sides. 5. Loosen the intermediate shaft (C) by disassembling the bearing screws (D) at both sides. 6. Slacken the chain tension by loosening the support bearing attachment (E). The support bearing attachment is loosened by disassembling the two screws at the top. 7. Remove the chain from the differential. 8. Pull out the shafts from the differential and remove the differential. 9. Check the chains. Replace if required. The chains shall not be lubricated. They are factory lubricated. Excessive grease can spoil the friction if it reach the friction wheel or the friction disc.10. Check the bearings for dissonance and uneven friction at rotation. Replace if required. 11. Reassemble all parts in the reverse order. 8.8 REPLACING THE SHEAR BOLTS The auger is fastened to the shaft by special bolts (20 in fig. 14) that are designed to break if something gets stuck in the auger housing. Always use genuine spare parts. Other types of bolts could cause serious damage to the machine. 1. Stop the engine. 2. - Disconnect the starting cable from the spark plug. 3. Ensure all the rotating parts have stopped. 4. Remove the object that has fastened in the auger. 5. Lubricate the auger shaft (see above). 6. Align the holes in the shaft and the auger. 7. Remove the defective bolt parts. 6. Assemble the new genuine bolt. 8.9 ADJUSTMENT THE DRIVING BANDS Valid for SNOW TRACK, see figur 27 If the machine is driven unevenly or if the driving bands slip, these shall be checked/adjusted as follows: 1. Lift the band in the middle. 2. Measure the distance between the driving band and the upper part of the support plate. The distance shall be 30 mm. 3. If necessary, adjust at the screw (3). 8.10 HEADLAMP BULB Only 27 W original spare part bulb is allowed to be used. Bulbs with higher power will damage the headlamp. The headlamp bulb is fitted to the headlamp by a bayonet socket. See fig. 32. To replace the bulb proceed as follows: 1. Turn the bulb about 30° CCW and pull it out. 2. Release the plastic locks at each side of the bulb and pull off the cable connection from the bulb. 3. Fit the new bulb in the reverse order.
57 ENGLISHEN 9 STORAGE Never store the snow thrower with petrol in the tank in a confined area with bad ventilation. Petrol fumes could reach open flames, sparks, cigarettes etc. If the snow thrower is to be stored for a longer period than 30 days, the following measures are recommended: 1. Empty the petrol tank. 2. Start the engine and let it run until it stops due to lack of fuel. Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container designed for petrol. 3. Change the engine oil if it has not been done for 3 months. 4. Remove the spark plug and empty a little engine oil (about 30ml) in the hole. Crank the engine a couple of times. Screw back the spark plug. 5. Clean the whole snow thrower thoroughly. 6. Lubricate all the parts as shown in LUBRICATING above. 7. Inspect the snow thrower for damage. Repair if necessary. 8. Touch up any paint damage. 9. Rust protect the metal surfaces. 10. Store the snow thrower indoors if possible. 10 IF SOMETHING BREAKS Authorised service workshops carry out repairs and guarantee service. Always use genuine spare parts. Do you carry out simple repairs yourself? Always use genuine spare parts. They fit perfectly and make the work much easier. Spare parts are available at your retailer and service station. When ordering spare parts: Specify the model, year of purchase, the engine model and type number. 11 PURCHASE TERMS A full warranty is issued against manufacturing and material defects. The user must carefully follow the instructions given in the enclosed documentation. Warranty period For consumer use: One year from date of purchase. For commercial use: Three months from the date of purchase. Éloigner les mains et les pieds des éléments en rotation. Respecter une distance de sécurité suffisante. Ne jamais orienter l’éjecteur vers des personnes se trouvant à proximité. Arrêter le moteur et débrancher le câble de la batterie pour procéder au nettoyage et à l’entretien. Risque de brûlure. Porter des protections auditives. 2 RÈGLES DE SÉCURITÉ 2.1 GÉNÉRALITÉS • Veuillez lire attentivement les instructions qui suivent et apprendre les commandes et le maniement correct de la machine avant de l’utiliser. • Ne jamais confier l’utilisation du chasse-neige à des enfants ou à des personnes inexpérimentées. L’âge minimum du conducteur est déterminé par les réglementations en vigueur. • Ne pas tondre à proximité de personnes, en particulier des enfants, ou d’animaux. • Le conducteur de l’engin assume seul la responsabilité des accidents impliquant des personnes ou des biens. • Veiller à ne pas trébucher ou tomber, surtout lors de la conduite en marche arrière. • L’usage du chasse-neige est interdit aux utilisateurs fatigués, malades, ou sous l’influence de l’alcool ou de médicaments. 2.2 PRÉCAUTIONS • Contrôler la zone à déneiger et retirer les objets susceptibles de gêner le travail. • Débrayer toutes les commandes avant de démarrer le moteur. • Porter des vêtements appropriés. Porter des chaussures ou bottes dont les semelles ne glissent pas.• Attention – l’essence est très inflammable. A. Toujours conserver l’essence dans des récipients spécialement conçus à cet effet. B. Faire le plein d’essence uniquement à l’extérieur, et ne pas fumer pendant l’opération. C. Faire le plein d’essence avant de démarrer le moteur. Ne jamais enlever le bouchon du réservoir ou procéder au remplissage quand le moteur tourne ou est encore chaud. D. Revisser fermement le bouchon du réservoir et essuyer l’essence qui aurait débordé. • Régler la hauteur du carter de la fraise pour qu’elle ne touche pas le gravier. • Il est formellement interdit de procéder aux réglages si le moteur n’est pas à l’arrêt (sauf instructions contraires). • Laisser le chasse-neige s’adapter à la température extérieure avant de l’utiliser. • Porter impérativement des lunettes de protection ou une visière pendant l’utilisation, la maintenance et les entretiens. 2.3 UTILISATION • Éloigner les mains et les pieds des éléments en rotation. Toujours rester à l’écart de l’orifice de l’éjecteur. • Faire attention lorsqu’on déneige des sentiers, trottoirs et routes, ou lorsqu’on les traverse. Se méfier des dangers cachés et faire attention au trafic. • Ne jamais diriger l’éjecteur vers la voie publique ou le trafic. • En cas dimpact avec un objet quelconque, couper le moteur, débrancher le câble de la bougie et vérifier minutieusement létat de la machine. Procéder aux réparations qui simposent avant de la remettre en service. • Si la machine vibre anormalement, couper le moteur et vérifier immédiatement lorigine des vibrations. Elles signalent généralement un problème. • Arrêter le moteur et débrancher le câble de la batterie : A. Si la machine dévie de sa trajectoire. B. Si la fraise ou l’éjecteur se bloquent et doivent être dégagés. C. Avant d’entamer des réparations ou des réglages. • Avant de procéder au nettoyage, à la réparation ou à l’inspection de la machine, s’assurer que toutes les parties mobiles sont à l’arrêt et que toutes les commandes sont débrayées. • Lorsque le chasse-neige est abandonné sans surveillance, débrayer les commandes, mettre la boîte de vitesse en position neutre, couper le moteur et retirer la clé de contact. • Ne pas faire tourner le moteur à l’intérieur, sauf au démarrage ou pour sortir et rentrer le chasse-neige. Ouvrir les portes donnant vers l’extérieur ; les gaz d’échappement sont toxiques. • Ne jamais circuler perpendiculairement à une pente. Se déplacer de haut en bas, et de bas en haut. Redoubler de prudence lors des changements de direction sur les terrains en pente. Éviter les pentes escarpées. • Ne jamais utiliser la machine si les protections et dispositifs de sécurité sont insuffisants.
59 FRANÇAISFR • Il est interdit de déconnecter les dispositifs de sécurité ou d’en empêcher le fonctionnement. • Ne pas modifier le réglage du moteur. Ne pas pousser le moteur à plein régime. Le risque de blessure augmente lorsque le moteur tourne à plein régime. • Ne pas déneiger à proximité de clôtures, véhicules, fenêtres ou sur des pentes escarpées sans adapter le déflecteur déjection. • Éloigner les enfants des zones à déneiger et confier leur surveillance à un adulte. • Ne pas surcharger la capacité de la machine en tentant de déneiger trop rapidement. • Faire attention en changeant de direction. Regarder derrière soi avant et pendant la marche arrière pour vérifier l’absence d’obstacles. • Ne jamais orienter l’éjecteur vers des personnes se trouvant à proximité. De même, personne ne doit se trouver dans la trajectoire de celle-ci. • Débrayer la fraise lors du transport du chasse-neige ou lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé. Modérer la vitesse pour le transport de la machine sur les surfaces glissantes. • Utiliser exclusivement des accessoires approuvés par le fabricant. • Ne jamais utiliser le chasse-neige lorsque la luminosité ou la visibilité sont insuffisantes. • Veiller à avoir en permanence une bonne stabilité sur le sol et une bonne prise sur le guidon. • Ne pas utiliser le chasse-neige sur les toits. • Certains éléments du moteur chauffent pendant l’utilisation. Ne pas les toucher sous peine de se brûler. 2.4 MAINTENANCE ET REMISAGE • Serrer tous les boulons et vis pour assurer la sécurité de la machine. Vérifier régulièrement le serrage des boulons de cisaillement. • Utiliser exclusivement des pièces d’origine. L’utilisation d’autres types de pièces de rechange, même si elles s’adaptent à la machine, peut se révéler dangereuse. • Ne pas stationner la machine à l’intérieur si son réservoir contient du carburant dont les émanations sont susceptibles d’entrer en contact avec des flammes nues ou des étincelles. • Laisser refroidir le moteur avant de ranger la machine dans un local. • Lorsque le chasse-neige doit être remisé pendant une longue période, se référer aux instructions du manuel de l’utilisateur. • Remplacer les autocollants d’avertissement et d’instructions devenus illisibles. • À la fin du travail, laisser tourner le chasse-neige pendant quelques minutes pour éviter que la fraise ne soit figée par le gel. 3 MONTAGE Remarque : Dans ce manuel, la gauche et la droite sont déterminées par rapport à la position d’utilisation de la machine. 3.1 CONTENU DE L’EMBALLAGE L’emballage contient : - Un chasse-neige - Un levier de réglage - Un levier de vitesses - Un éjecteur - Un mode d’emploi - Un kit de montage Les éléments suivants sont également fournis: - Outil de dégagement de l’éjecteur (15 dans les fig. 7, 8) . - Boulons de cisaillement de rechange 3.2 DÉBALLAGE 1. Retirer du carton les pièces libres. 2. Découper les quatre arêtes de l’emballage pour abaisser les côtés de l’emballage. 3. Desserrer les vis (B) de fixation à la base. Voir fig. 1. 4. Pousser le chasse-neige pour le faire sortir du carton. 5. Couper le ruban adhésif maintenant les câbles de commande à la partie inférieure du guidon. 3.3 GUIDON, VOIR FIG. 2 1. Détacher les longues vis de la partie inférieure du guidon. 2. Replier vers le haut la partie supérieure du guidon. REMARQUE ! S’assurer que les câbles ne sont pas coincés entre les deux parties du guidon. 3. Placer une vis (A) et une rondelle plate (B) dans le trou situé en haut à droite. 4. Fixer au moyen d’une rondelle de serrage et d’un écrou (D). 5. Retirer l’écrou de serrage et la rondelle du boulon à œillet situé sur le levier de réglage. 6. Introduire le boulon à œillet dans le trou situé en haut à gauche. 7. Remettre la rondelle et l’écrou de serrage sur le boulon. 8. Une fois le montage du levier terminé, serrer tous les écrous (voir ci-dessous). 3.4 LEVIER DE RÉGLAGE, VOIR FIG. 3 1. Retirer la goupille (12). 2. Introduire la tige (15) dans l’orifice du joint à cardan (16). 3. Bloquer le joint avec la goupille (12). 4. Faire tourner l’éjecteur vers la gauche et la droite. Il doit pivoter librement. 3.5 ÉJECTEUR, VOIR FIG. 4 1. Tourner le levier de réglage vers la gauche jusqu’à rencontrer une résistance. 2. Placer l’éjecteur (2) sur la bride de manière à ce que les trous correspondent. 3. Introduire les trois boulons (1) par l’intérieur. 4. Fixer les rondelles (5) et les écrous (6) par l’extérieur de la bride. 5. Serrer fermement.
60 FRANÇAISFR 3.6 POMMEAU – LEVIER, FIG. 5 1. Visser l’écrou (J) sur le levier de vitesses. 2. Monter le pommeau (K) sur le levier de vitesse. 3. Serrer l’écrou situé en dessous du pommeau. 3.7 ACCÉLÉRATEUR, VOIR FIG. 6 Mettre le levier d’accélérateur situé sur le guidon dans une position permettant d’installer aisément le joint à rotule (L) dans l’orifice du levier (M). Installer la rondelle et serrer à l’aide de l’écrou fourni. 3.8 VÉRIFICATION DES CÂBLES Il peut être nécessaire de procéder au réglage des câbles avant la première utilisation. Voir ci-dessous : RÉGLAGE DES CÂBLES 3.9 PRESSION DES PNEUS Vérifier la pression d’air dans les pneus. Pressions correctes : 1,0 – 1,2 bar. 18. BLOCAGE DES CHENILLES, VOIR FIG. 15 Uniquement pour SNOW TRACK Il est possible de débrayer les chenilles pour déclacer plus facilement le chasse-neige sans démarrer le moteur. Les deux positions suivantes peuvent être sélectionnées : Chenilles débrayées Mettre les goupilles (1) en position extérieure des deux côtés. Chenilles embrayées Déplacer les goupilles vers le centre afin qu’elles traversent à la fois les moyeux et les arbres. 19. BASCULEMENT DES CHENILLES, VOIR FIG. 19 Uniquement pour SNOW TRACK Il est possible de basculer les chenilles vers l’arrière pour permettre au carter de fraise de venir à bout de congères et autres amoncellements de neige compacte. Basculement Soulever les poignées (1) jusqu’à ce que les chenilles soient bloquées en position basculées. Remise en position initiale Soulever les poignées et enfoncer la pédale (2) jusqu’à ce que les chenilles soient bloquées en position normale. 4 COMMANDES Voir figures 7-13. 4.1 CONTACT (1) Le contact doit être sur ON pour que le moteur puisse démar- rer. Pour arrêter le moteur, ramener le contact sur OFF. 4.2 CHOKE (2) Pour démarrer le moteur à froid : Deux positions possibles : 1. Choke ouvert 2. Choke fermé (pour les démarrages à froid)4.3 POMPE (PRIMER) (3) Pour faciliter le démarrage à froid, appuyer sur le caoutchouc de la pompe pour injecter de l’essence dans le tuyau d’arrivée du carburateur. 4.4 CLÉ DE CONTACT (4) Introduire la clé à fond. Sinon, le moteur ne démarre pas. Ne pas tourner la clé ! 1. Le moteur peut démarrer quand la clé est introduite à fond. 2. Le moteur ne démarre pas lorsque la clé est retirée. 4.5 POIGNÉE DE DÉMARREUR (5) Cordon de lancement manuel avec enrouleur. 4.6 JAUGE (6) Permet de vérifier le niveau d’huile moteur et de faire l’appoint. La jauge possède deux marques : FULL = niveau maximum d’huile ADD = niveau minimum d’huile 4.7 EMBOUT DE REMPLISSAGE (7) a. Pour faire le plein de carburant. 4.8 BOUCHON DE VIDANGE D’HUILE (8) Pour vidanger l’huile du moteur. 4.9 BOUTON DU DÉMARREUR ÉLECTRIQUE (9) Active le démarreur électrique. 4.10 CÂBLE DU DÉMARREUR ÉLECTRIQUE (10) Fournit le courant au démarreur. Brancher le câble sur une prise 220/230 V avec mise à la terre. Il est prudent de prévoir un fusible de perte à la terre. 4.11 LEVIER DE VITESSES (11) La machine possède 6 vitesses en marche avant et 2 en marche arrière. Ne pas bouger le changement de vitesse si le levier d’embrayage est débrayé. 4.12 LEVIER D’EMBRAYAGE - CONDUITE (12) Mettre l’embrayage en vitesse et pousser le levier vers le guidon pour enclencher l’entraînement des roues. Situé sur le côté gauche du guidon. 4.13 LEVIER D’EMBRAYAGE - FRAISE (13) Pousser le levier vers le guidon pour enclencher la fraise et le ventilateur. Situé sur le côté droit du guidon. 4.14 DÉFLECTEUR (14) Desserrer la vis papillon et régler la hauteur du déflecteur. Position abaissée – distance d’éjection plus courte. Position relevée – distance d’éjection plus longue. 4.15 LEVIER DE RÉGLAGE (17) Modifie la direction de l’éjection. 1. Tourner le levier vers la droite pour éjecter la neige sur la droite. 2. Tourner le levier vers la gauche pour éjecter la neige sur la gauche.
