    ERASING SHADOWS AROUND THE
    EDGES OF A COPY
    (Erase copy)
This feature is used to erase shadows that appear around the edges of copies of books and other thick originals.

The feature can also erase the shadow that appears down the centre of books and other originals that open up.
    (Centre erase)
Both the shadow lines around the edges of copies and the shadow at the centre can be erased. (Edge + Centre erase)
     Five selections are available for the erasure width: 0 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm (0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1).

    SYSTEM SETTINGS GUIDE
    PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM SETTINGS
The system settings are used by the administrator of the machine to enable or disable functions to suit the needs of your
    workplace.
This manual explains only the system settings that are common to all the functions of the machine, (copy, fax, printer and
network scanner functions), as well as system settings that are specifically for the copy function. For programs that are
specifically for the fax function, printer function, or network scanner function, see the following manuals:
Fax function: Operation manual (for facsimile), Chapter 8, SYSTEM SETTINGS
Printer function / scanner function: Operation manual (for printer and scanner), Chapter 4, SYSTEM SETTINGS
Network printer function: Operation manual (for network printer), Chapter 5 SYSTEM SETTINGS
     Network scanner function:
Operation manual (for network scanner), Chapter 3 SYSTEM SETTINGS
To use the system settings, the administrator password must be entered.
PROGRAMS RELATED TO ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE
MACHINE (COPY, FAX, PRINTER, AND NETWORK
    SCANNER FUNCTIONS)
These programs are used to enable auditing mode, adjust power consumption, and manage peripheral devices.
Auditing mode can be enabled separately for the copy, network printer, fax, and network scanner functions. When
auditing mode is enabled for a function, a valid account number must be entered in order to use the function. (If a
valid account number is not entered, the function cannot be used.)
When auditing mode is enabled for the printer function, an account number must be entered at the users computer
when the print command is selected. (Depending on the system settings, a job may be printed even if an incorrect
account number is entered, and thus care must be taken when managing printer page counts.) If CANCEL JOBS
OF INVALID ACCOUNTS is enabled in the system settings, printing will be prohibited if an invalid account number
    is entered.)
    PROGRAMS FOR COPY MODE
These programs are used to change the factory default copy settings to settings that better suit the needs of your
    workplace.
When auditing mode is enabled for the copy function,
A valid account number must be entered to make copies.
(Copying is not possible unless a valid account number is entered.)
A count is kept of the number of copies made by each account. This allows you to monitor copier usage by
account. (The counts can be totaled.)
    * The account number is a five-digit number.
A limit can be set for the number of copies that can be made by each account.
    PROGRAMMING AN ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD
The administrator password is a 5-digit number that must be entered in order to access the system settings. The
administrator (administrator of the machine) should change the default administrator password that was set at the
factory to a new 5-digit number. Be sure to remember the new administrator password, as it must be entered each
time the system settings are subsequently used. (Only one administrator password can be programmed.)
See page 101 for the factory default administrator password.
To change the administrator password, see PROGRAMMING AN ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD (page 76).
