71 Setting up HDMI TV audio (Optional) You can configure the sound of the computer to be played through the HDMI TV. You have to configure the sound d evice in the Control Panel whenever you connect the HDMI TV in order to hear sound from the computer on the TV. The screen images and terms may differ from actual product depending on the computer model. 1 Right-click over the Volume Control icon in the notification area at the bottom right of the Desktop a nd select Playback Devices . ( Alternatively, click the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound .) 2 If the default Playback Device is set to Speakers , change it to Digital Output Device(HDMI) (or HDMI Device) , click Set Default and then click OK. HDMI Output Device may not appear on the playback device list depending on the computer model. In this case, turn on the TV, connect the TV to the computer using a HDMI cable and then switch to HDMI or LCD+HDMI Clone or LCD+HDMI DualView mode using the Shortcut Key(Fn + F4). To listen to sound on the computer after disconnecting the HDMI TV, you have to set the Playback Device to Speakers .
7 Selecting Dual View Check if the external display device is properly connected and follow the instructions below. 1 Click the Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Adjust screen resolution . 2 ▶ For Windows 7 Cl ick the monitor number icon and select Extend these displays in the Multiple displays i tem. Click the Apply button and then the OK button. ▶ For Windows Vista Cl ick on the number monitor icon and select Extend the desktop onto this monitor . Click Apply and then click the OK button. Using Dual View Dual View enables users to expand their computer screen over two display devices. Dual View is convenient when a wide operating space is needed. In addition, since Dual View operates as if there are graphic cards present even when there is only one, you can set the resolution and color for each display device. Since these descriptions are written on the basis of the latest operating system, Windows 7, some of the content and the figures of the descriptions may differ depending on the operating system. Since the procedures for other Windows operating s ystems are similar, use the computer referring to these descriptions. Due to restrictions of the operating system the DualView function is not supported for Windows 7 Starter.
73 3 When notebook LCD is set as the main device, the 1 digit is displayed over it and the digit is displayed over the auxiliary display device. Now you can expand the Desktop screen over display devices. When using Dual View, it is recommended setting the LCD as the main device (number 1). Adjusting the resolution of the auxiliar y display device (Monitor Number 2) I f the resolution of the auxiliary display device is output, you can adjust the resolution and color quality by clicking Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Adjust screen resolution > Monitor Number 2 . ▶ For Windows XP 1 Connect the external display device (e.g. a monitor or a projector) to the corresponding port of the system. To connect a TV, connect the TV to the TV output port of the system. 2 Press touchpad right button on the desktop, click Properties , and then click the Settings tab. 3 Click the monitor 2 icon, select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box, and then click Apply. 4 When the configuration is complete, click Identify o n the left side of Troubleshoot. The primary display device(the LCD) is indicated as 1, and the secondary display device is indicated as 2. Now you can view the screen through two monitors. When you use Dual View, configuring the LCD as t he 'Primary' monitor is recommended. 1 : Primary 2 : Secondary
74 Adjusting the resolution of the auxiliar y display device (Monitor Number 2) I f the screen of the secondary display device is displayed, change the settings to the desired screen resolution and color quality in the [Display Properties] dialog box. Using Window in Dual View Click on the window title bar of the main LCD (monitor number 1) and drag it into the auxiliary display device (monitor number ) to move the window. () Canceling Dual View 1 Click the Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Adjust screen resolution . 2 ▶ For Windows 7 Cl ick the monitor number icon and select Show Desktop on 1 only in the Multiple displays i tem. Click the Apply button and then the OK button. ▶ For Windows Vista Cl ick on the Monitor Number icon, unselect Extend the desktop onto this monitor , and then click Apply. ▶ For Windows XP Cl ick the monitor 2 icon, clear the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box, and then click Apply.

Adjusting the Volume using the Volume Adjustment Program Click the Volume icon on the taskbar and slide the volume control bar to adjust the volume. ▶ For Windows 7/Vista R ight-click over the Volume icon and select Open Volume Mixer to adjust the volume. ▶ For Windows XP Double-click the Volume icon , and adjust the volume level in the volume control program. 7 Using the Sound Recorder The procedures to record sound using the Windows Recorder are described below. ▶ For Windows 7/Vista 1 Connect a microphone to the microphone jack. You can also use the internal MIC. 2 Right-click over the Volume icon on the taskbar and select Recording Device . 3 Check if the microphone is set as the default recording device. If this is the case, it is already set as the default device. If not, right-click over the microphone and select Set default . 4 Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Sound Recorder a nd click Start recording to start a recording. ▶ For Windows XP 1 Connect a microphone to the microphone jack. You can also use the internal MIC. 2 Click Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Sounds and Audio Devices. 3 Click Advanced from Volume and then, click Options > Properties . 4 Select Realtek HD Audio input from the mixer device to select Recording from Adjust Volume for. 5 Select Mic Volume from Show the following volume controls and click OK.
77 6 When Recording Control window appears, check the Select c heckbox. Increase the recording vo lume to increase the recording sensitivity and close the window. 7 Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder. 8 Click the Record button to perform recording. The default recording duration of Windows is 60 seconds. Download a dedicated recording program from the Internet to record audio data for a long time. Using SoundAlive (Optional) The SoundAlive function enables you to experience more stereophonic sound using stereo speakers. SoundAlive is only supported in Windows 7. The software programs provider may vary, d epending on your computer model. In addition, some pictures may diff er from actual p roduct depending on the computer model and software version. 1 Right-click over the Volume Control icon in the notifi cation area at the bottom right of the Desktop an d select Playback Devices . (Alternatively, click the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound .) 2 Right-click over the Speakers and select Properties . 3 Select the SoundAlive t ab and select one of the modes. ▶ Basic Mode MusicSelect this mode to listen to music. MovieSelect this mode to watch a movie. SpeechEmphasizes voice over other sounds. SilverSilver mode is for people who have difficulty in hearing. ▶ Advanced Mode Fi nely tuned 25 presets are arranged on a square according to their relative sound characteristics. ▶ User Mode Y o u can control a variety of sound effects.
78 1 Connect a LAN cable to the computer’s LAN port. 2 ▶ For Windows 7 Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and click on Change adapter settings in the left menu pane. ▶ For Windows Vista Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and click Manage Network Connections in the left menu pane. ▶ For Windows XP Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connection . 3 Select Local Area Connection and click the right button of the touch pad and select Properties . The LAN Device name may differ depending on your computer's Network Device. Wired Network A wired network is a network environment used for a company network or broadband internet connection at home. 79 4 ▶ For Windows 7 / Vista S elect Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) f rom the list of Network Components and click Properties . ▶ For Windows XP Cl ick General t ab and select a LAN driver from Connect using: . Select Internet Protocol(TCP/ IP) a nd click Properties. The displayed LAN driver may vary depending on the LAN device type. Click Install to add a network component as shown in the figure below: You can add a client, a service, o r a protocol. The Network Component name may differ depending on the Operating System Installed. To add a network component, click Install in the screen shown in the figure above. You can add c lients, services, and protocols. 5 Configure the IP settings. When using DHCP, select Obtain an IP address automatically . To use a static IP address, select Use the following IP address , and set the IP address manually. When not using DHCP, ask your network administrator for the IP address. 6 When you have completed the settings, click the OK button. T he network settings have been completed.
80 Using both DHCP and a fixed IP simultaneously Using the Alternate Configuration, you can set both automatic and fixed IP addresses and then you can select t o use either of them to connect to the Internet. 1 ▶ For Windows 7 Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and click on Change adapter settings in the left menu pane. ▶ For Windows Vista Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and click Manage Network Connections in the left pane. ▶ For Windows XP Cl ick Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connection > Local Area Connection by using the right button of the touch pad and click Properties. 2 Right-click over the Local Area Connection and select Properties . 3 For Windows 7/Vista , select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the Networking tab and select Properties . F or Windows XP, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) a nd click Properties . 4 Select the Alternate Configuration tab, select User configured , fill in the corresponding fields and click t he OK button.
