My Files Access les stored on your device, including images, videos, songs, and sound clips. View Files Files stored in the device are organized into the following groups: • QUICK SEARCH: Files are grouped into the following categories: Recent les: View recently saved les. • Images: View image les. • Videos: View video les. • Audio: View audio les. • Documents: View document les. • • Downloaded apps: View downloaded apps. • DOWNLOAD HISTORY: View all apps and les that have been downloaded to the device. • SHORTCUTS: Contains shortcuts to les or folders that you have added. This option only appears if you have added shortcuts to the My Files main screen. • LOCAL STORAGE: View folders and les in their storage locations. • Device storage: View folders and les located on the device. • SD card: View folders and les located on the memory card (if installed). • CLOUD STORAGE: Contains shortcuts to FTP servers or other cloud storage locations that you have added. This option only appears if you have added shortcuts to the My Files main screen. To view les in My Files : 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > My Files. 2. Tap a category to view the relevant les or folders. 3. Tap a le or folder to open it. My Files Options On the main My Files screen, the following options are available: Search: Search for a le or folder. • • Tap More options for these options: • Add shortcut: Add a shortcut on the My Files main screen to any folder. • Storage usage: View memory information for your device and memory card (if installed) . • Settings : Change the settings for viewing les. Category Options After tapping on a category, the following options are available: Home: Return to the main My Files screen. • • Search: Search for a le in the selected category. • Tap More options to nd the following options: • Select: Select les or folders. • Create folder: Add a folder (Local storage only) . • View as: Change the appearance of the les or folders. • Sort by: Change the sort order of the les. • Add shortcut: Add a shortcut to the folder on a Home screen (Local storage only) . • Settings : Change the settings for viewing les. Options for Selected Files and Folders • Tap More options > Select, select a le or folder, and then use one of these functions: Share via: Send les to others or share them. Delete : Delete les or folders. • Tap More options for additional options: • Move: Move les or folders to another folder. • Copy: Copy les or folders to another folder • Rename: Rename a le or folder. This option only appears when just one le or folder is selected. • Add shortcut on Home screen: Add a shortcut to a le or folder to the Home screen. • Zip: Create a zip folder containing the selected les. This option only appears in Local Storage categories. A selected zip folder has the additional options of Extract and Extract to current folder. • Details: View details of the selected le(s) or folder(s) . Samsung Applications 56 My Files
PEN.UP The Pen.Up application allows you to join an online community, follow your favorite artists, share your S Note creations, and connect with other creative people. Join the Pen.Up community through your Samsung, Facebook, or Google+ accounts. S Health Use S Health to plan, track, and manage your health goals and activities, including exercise, sleep, and meals. Note : This device and related software are not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease. 1. From Home, tap Apps > S Health. 2. Set up your health prole and goals. Before You Start Exercising This app can be used to monitor your exercise. While moderate physical activity, such as brisk walking, is safe for most people, health experts suggest that you talk with your doctor before you start an exercise program, particularly if you have any of the following conditions: • Heart disease; • Asthma or lung disease; • Diabetes, or liver or kidney disease; • Arthritis. You should also check with your doctor if you have symptoms suggestive of heart, lung, or other serious disease, such as: • Pain or discomfort in your chest, neck, jaw, or arms during physical activity; • Dizziness or loss of consciousness; • Shortness of breath with mild exertion or at rest, or when lying down or going to bed; • Ankle swelling, especially at night; • A heart murmur or a rapid or pronounced heartbeat; • Muscle pain when walking upstairs or up a hill that goes away when you rest. Finally, the American College of Sports Medicine recommends that you see your doctor before engaging in vigorous exercise if two or more of the following apply: • You are a man older than age 45 or a woman older than age 55; • You have a family history of heart disease before age 55; • You smoke or quit smoking in the past six months; • You have not exercised for three months or more; • You are overweight or obese; • You have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. • You have impaired glucose tolerance, also called prediabetes. When in Doubt — Check It Out If you are unsure of your health status, have several health problems, or are pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before starting a new exercise program. Working with your doctor ahead of time is a good way to plan an exercise program that is right and safe for you. Consider it the rst step on your path to physical tness. S Note The S Note app helps you create, edit, and manage all the notes on your device. Sign in to your Samsung account or Evernote account to access your notes in S Note from any device. With S Note, create content by typing, writing, drawing, and even recording voice, video, or taking pictures. Templates are provided to make content creation easy and help keep things organized. Create a Note To create a note with S Note: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > S Note. 2. Tap Create new note. 3. Use the S Pen to create content. To use a template: 1. Tap More options > Add template. 2. When nished, tap Save . Edit a Note When in the S Note app, you can edit notes as follows: 1. Tap a note to view it. 2. Tap Edit to edit the note. Note : Action Memos behave dierently from other notes. When you tap on an Action Memo to view it, you can edit the memo immediately. Note Tools When creating or editing a note in S Note, some helpful modes and tools are provided. Note : The available tools are dierent for Action Memos. • Handwriting mode: Write or draw freehand with the S Pen. Tap the Pen icon once to select Handwriting mode. Tap again to change the Pen settings. • Eraser mode: Erase content from the note. Tap once to select the eraser. Tap again to change the Eraser settings. • Text mode: Type text using the keyboard. Tap once to select Text mode. Tap again to change the Text settings. • Snap note: Add a note page by taking a picture. The camera is activated. After you take a picture, crop the image as desired. The cropped image is then added as a page to your current note. Samsung Applications 59 S Note
• Selection mode: Select content in the note. Tap once to use Selection mode. Tap again to switch between Lasso and Rectangle modes. Draw around the content you wish to select. Depending on the selection, several options are made available to move, edit, or reshape the content. • Undo: Undo the last action. • Redo: Redo the last action. • S Pen and nger mode / S Pen only mode: Switch between the two edit modes. • Save: Save the note. The note switches to View mode. To edit the note again, tap the Edit button. • More options: View more options for the note. Action Memos An Action Memo is a special type of note that turns your written text into actions on your device. For example, if someone tells you the name of a restaurant, you can launch a new memo, write the name of the restaurant, and then have the memo locate it on a map. Note : While active, an Action Memo stays on the screen for as long as you are using it, even if you press the Home key. You must tap either Save or Discard in order to close the memo. To open an Action Memo: ► Launch the Air command menu and select Action memo. – or – Press and hold the S Pen button and double-tap the screen with the pen. To link a memo to an action : 1. Write on the memo. 2. Press Link to action and select an action to perform. 3. Draw around the content you want to use for the action. The selected content is boxed and highlighted. 4. On the menu bar that appears, tap the action you want to take. Options include Device, Contacts, Messages, Email, Browser, Map, and Task. For example, you can write a phone number, press the Link to action button, and then select the Contacts icon to save the number to an existing contact or create a new contact. S Voice Speak commands to perform operations on your device, and to speak criteria for searches and other operations. Use S Voice to nd everything from directions to trivia answers to the current weather forecast. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > S Voice. 2. Speak a command. 3. Tap the microphone icon, if the device does not hear you, or to give it another command. Tip: Tap More options for example commands and to view a tutorial. S Voice Settings These settings allow you to modify settings associated with using the Internet app. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > S Voice. 2. Tap More options > Settings . 3. Scrapbook The Scrapbook app provides a place for you to manage the multimedia content you capture with S Pen tools. Scrapbook provides storage and organization tools for content you capture while using your mobile device. With the Smart Select or Image Clip tools, you can capture articles, images, and even videos and music. You can then add a title, text, a handwritten memo, or content tags. When you capture content online, the web link is saved with the content. Editing the Scrapbook Content in the Scrapbook can be edited. To open the Scrapbook: ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Scrapbook. You can edit both Categories and the content les within them. To edit a le: 1. Ta p Show categories in the top left corner. 2. Select either the category or tag that contains the le, or tap All to view all les. 3. Locate the le to edit and tap it to open. 4. Tap the Edit icon. 5. Change the Title, Text, Memo, or Tags as desired. When nished, tap Save . To edit a Category: 1. Ta p Show categories in the top left corner. Categories and tags are listed in the menu, along with the number of content les contained. 2. Tap a category to open it. 3. Tap More options > Edit category. 4. You can edit the Title and the Layout. Change them as desired. 5. When nished, tap Done. Samsung Applications 62 Scrapbook
Smart Remote Smart Remote lets you control select Wi-Fi-enabled Samsung T V models using your Samsung Galaxy device. Now you can control all of your T V’s settings, such as ON/OFF function, channel navigation, and volume control from the same Samsung device you already know. 1.
