Use Haptic Feedback Set the device to vibrate when you tap the Menu and Recent apps keys, and for certain screen interactions. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sound > Haptic feedback to turn the feature on. Play a Sound When Using the Samsung Keyboard Play a sound when typing on the Samsung Keyboard. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device > Sound. 2. Tap either of the following options to create a check mark and activate the feature: • Sound when tapped: Enables auditory feedback when you touch an onscreen key. • Vibrate when tapped: Enables the device to vibrate when you touch an onscreen key. Note : These options only appear when the Samsung keyboard is set as the default keyboard. Settings 85 Sound Settings
Display Settings Adjust the Screen Brightness Adjust the screen brightness to suit your surroundings or personal preference. You may also want to adjust screen brightness to conserve battery power. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Brightness for options: • Tap Automatic brightness to allow the device to adjust brightness automatically. • To set a custom brightness level, clear the Automatic brightness check mark and then tap and drag the Brightness level. Note : You can also control Brightness from the Notication panel. Drag down the Status bar at the top of the screen to nd the Brightness options. Change the Font Style and Size You can set the font style and size for all text that displays on the screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Font to choose a font style and font size. • Tap Download to nd new fonts from the Google Play Store. Automatically Rotate the Screen Use the front camera to rotate the screen based on the orientation of your face. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Screen rotation to turn the feature on. Smart Stay Using the front camera to detect your face, the screen will not time out as long as you are facing the screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Smart stay to turn the feature on. Set the Screen Timeout Delay Choose how long the display screen remains lit after you tap the screen or press any key. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Screen timeout, and then choose a time period. Select a Screen Mode Choose a screen mode to match your type of viewing. You can choose to have the device automatically adapt the display depending on the type of image being displayed, and other criteria such as battery level. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Screen mode, and then choose a screen mode. • To have your device automatically optimize the display to match the type of image being displayed and other criteria, such as battery level, tap Adaptive display. – or – Choose a specic type of screen mode based on what your are viewing. Auto Adjust the Screen Tone Your device will analyze the images displayed on the screen and automatically adjusts the brightness to conserve battery power. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Auto adjust screen tone to turn the feature on. Daydream (Screen Saver) The Daydream setting controls what the screen displays when the device is docked (dock not included) , or while charging. You can choose to display colors, or display photos stored on your device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Daydream. 3. Tap ON/OFF to turn Daydream on and congure the following options: • Colors: Tap the selector to display a changing screen of colors. • Flipboard: Display pictures from Flipboard. Tap Settings for options. • Google Photos: Display pictures from your Google Photos account. Tap Settings for options. • Photo frame: Display pictures in a photo frame. Tap Settings for options. • Photo table: Display pictures in a photo table. Tap Settings for options. 4. Tap Preview to see a demonstration of Daydream. 5. Tap Select when to daydream and tap While docked, While charging, or Both . Congure the LED Indicator Select which functions (such as charging or low battery) the LED indicator on the front of the device will display. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > LED indicator for options. Set the Touch Key Light Duration Set the length of time the Recent apps and Back keys remain lit after you touch them. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Touch key light duration to choose a timeout period. Increase the Touch Sensitivity of the Screen Increase the sensitivity of the touch screen to improve results when wearing gloves. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Increase touch sensitivity to turn the feature on. Settings 87 Display Settings
Wallpaper Settings Change the look of the home and lock screens with wallpaper. You can display a favorite picture, or choose from preloaded wallpapers. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Wallpaper. 3. Tap Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screen. 4. Tap an image to preview it, and then tap Set as wallpaper. • Tap From Gallery to select an image from the Gallery. • Tap Bubbles or Phase beam for animated wallpaper. (Animated wallpaper consumes additional battery power) . • Tap Live weather or My interests to set up those options (Lock screen only) . For more information, see Change the Wallpaper . Home Screen Settings Use Home screen settings to set up a Home screen transition eect and to indicate how Flipboard briengs are to be handled on your Home screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Home screen to display these options: • Transition eect: Choose an eect to be used when you swipe across the Home screen. Select None, Card Stack, or 3D Rotation. • Flipboard Brieng: View all Flipboard Brieng updates on the Home screen. Tap to create a check mark and enable the feature. Settings 89 Home Screen Settings
Lock Screen Choose a method for unlocking your screen. Dierent Screen Locks have dierent levels of security and options. Set a Screen Lock 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Lock Screen 3. Tap Screen lock to select a screen lock and level of security: • Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This option provides no security. • Pattern : A screen unlock pattern is a tap gesture you create and use to unlock your device. This option provides medium security. • PIN : Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security. • Fingerprint: Use ngerprint recognition to unlock the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • None: Never use a Lock screen. Screen Lock Options Swipe Only • Unlock eect: Set the visual eect used when unlocking the screen. Pattern Only • Pattern type: Select a pattern type. • Make pattern visible: Display the pattern as your draw it. • Vibration feedback: Vibrate when the unlock pattern is entered incorrectly. All Screen Locks • Show information: Display information on the lock screen, such as the date, time, and other information from your applications. The following are available: -ON/OFF button: Tap to turn the Show information feature on or o. -Show clock and date: Tap the check box to show or hide the clock and date. -Dual clock: Have both local and your home times appear when you are traveling. -Clock size: Select the size of the clock on the lock screen. -Weather: Tap the check box to show or hide local weather information. -Pedometer: If the Pedometer feature in S Health is in use, you can set the lock screen to show your step count. -Owner Information: Show owner information on the lock screen. -Help text: Show help information on unlocking the screen on the Lock screen. • Camera shortcut: Display a camera shortcut on your Lock screen. • Action memo on lock screen: While pressing the pen button, double tap the lock screen to open Action Memo. • Secured lock time: Lock the screen after 10 minutes of inactivity. Multi Window Settings Turn on the Multi window feature. For more information, see Using Multi Window . 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Ta p Multi window. 3. Tap ON/OFF to enable. The following options are available: • Open in multi window view : Automatically view content in a multi window when you open les from My Files or Video, or attachments from email. • Pop-up view shortcut: Change to pop-up view by swiping down diagonally from either corner at the top of the screen. Notication Panel Customize which Quick setting buttons appear on the Notication Panel. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device > Notication panel. – or – From the Notication panel, tap View all > Edit. To customize which quick setting buttons appear at the top of the Notication Panel : ► Touch and drag buttons between the ACTIVE and AVAILABLE BUTTONS trays. To use the default layout : ► Tap Reset. One-Handed Operation Change the screen layout to accommodate operating your device with one hand. To enable One-Handed Operation features : 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device > One-handed operation. 2. Tap any of the following features and then tap ON/OFF for each to turn it on or o: • Reduce screen size: Reduce the screen size so that you can reach all parts of the screen with one hand. • One-handed input: Adjust the size and position of the dialing keypad, in-call buttons, Samsung keyboard, Calculator, and unlock pattern (if congured) . • Side key panel: Activate a panel of buttons that includes the Home key, Recent apps, and Back key. The panel appears at the side of the screen. When enabled, you can customize the transparency, minimize behavior, and keys that appear on the panel. Settings 93 One-Handed Operation
Easy Mode Switch between the default screen layout and a simpler layout. The Easy Mode layout has larger text and icons, making for a more straightforward visual experience. To enable Easy Mode: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device > Easy mode. 2. Ta p Easy mode to enable this feature. 3. When Easy mode is enabled, you can scroll down the page and select which apps you want to appear on the Home screens. Tap the check box next to the apps you want to add or remove. 4.
