Calculator The calculator provides the basic arithmetic functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. You can also use this as a scientific calculator. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Calculator . 2.Enter the first number using the numeric keys. 3.Enter the operation for your calculation by touching the +(add), - (subtract), × (multiply), or ÷ (divide) key. 4.Enter the next number. 5.To view the result, touch the = (equals) key. 6.Repeat steps 3 through 5 as many times as required. 88 Creating a Calendar Event To create a calendar event: 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Calendar. 2.Touch the date for which you want to enter an event. 3.Enter the event information in the Create event screen, then touch Save. Customizing the Calendar 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Calendar. 2.Touch the Menu Key ➔ Settings to configure settings: View settings : View all your calendars. Calendar sync: Synchronize calendars from multiple accounts. Default view: Set the view to display when you open the Calendar. View days as: Set how the Day views should be formatted, either Time grid or Event list. First day of week: Choose whether Sunday or Monday is the first day of the week. Hide declined events: Enable or disable display of events. Lock time zone: Allows you to lock event times and dates based on your selected time zone, which is defined by the following field. Select time zone: If Lock time zone is enabled, used this option to select a time zone to lock event times and dates. Notification settings Set alerts & notifications : Set alert behavior for calendar notifications. : Set vibration behavior for calendar notifications. Select ringtone: Choose a tone for calendar notifications. Sending Calendar Events Send events as vCalendar files by using Bluetooth or as attachments to Email. Note: Depending on the type of event, the Send via option may not be available. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Calendar. 2.Touch an event, then touch the Menu Key ➔ Send via.

From the Home screen, touch Camera . – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Camera. Clock Use Clock to set an alarm, view the World clock, or access the Stopwatch or Timer. Alarm Set alarms for reminders or for wake-up times. Setting Alar ms 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch the Alarm tab at the top of the Clock screen. 3.Touch Create alarm or touch the Menu Key ➔ Create. 4.Touch fields to configure the alarm: : Set a time for the alarm to sound. : Choose One-time event, days, Daily, Every weekday (Mon-Fri), or Weekly for the alarm to repeat. : Enter a name for the alarm. Notification : Set a snooze duration of 3, 5,10, 15, or 30 minutes or a snooze repeat of 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 times. Smart alarm: Set an alarm duration of 3,5,10,15, or 30 minutes and a tone. Tone possibilities are: Morning, Breeze, Mist, Forest, Light, and Rain.
90 Sound Alarm type : Choose an alarm type of Melody, Vibration, Vibration and melody, or Voice. Alarm tone: Set an alarm tone from Sounds or Go to My files. : Use the slider to hear and set the alarm volume. 5.Touch Save to save the alarm. Editing an Alar m 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch an alarm in the list of alarms. 3.Touch and edit the desired fields as described in “Setting Alarms” on page 89. Deleting Alar ms 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch the Menu Key ➔ Delete. 3.Touch alarms to mark them for removal or touch Select All. 4.Touch Delete to remove the selected alarms. Wor ld Clock View the date and time in any time zone. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch the World clock tab at the top of the Clock screen. 3.Touch Add city or touch the Menu Key ➔Add. 4.Choose a city by typing a city name or scrolling through the list. 5.Touch the Menu Key for the these additional options: Delete: Select cities to remove from the display. DST settings: Touch for a city to set daylight savings time. Change order: Touch the buttons on an entry and drag the entry to a new position in the list. Touch Save to change the order. 6.Touch and hold a city in the for these options: Delete: Remove the city from the display. DST settings: Set daylight savings time to Off, 1 hour, or 2 hours.
Applications and Widgets 91 Stopwatch You can use this option to measure intervals of time. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch the Stopwatch tab at the top of the Clock screen. 3.Touch Start to start the stopwatch and touch Lap to mark a unit of time per lap. 4.Touch Stop to stop the stopwatch. 5.Touch Restart to continue or touch Reset to erase all times recorded. Timer You can use this option to set a countdown timer. Use a timer to count down to an event based on a preset time length (hours, minutes, and seconds). 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Clock. 2.Touch the Timer tab at the top of the Clock screen. 3.The min field is highlighted and set to 1 minute. Use the keypad to set the number of minutes you want. 4.Touch the hr field to set hours, if desired. As you touch different fields, they are highlighted. 5.Touch the sec field to set seconds. 6.Touch Start to begin the timer and touch Stop to pause the timer. After stopping, touch Restart to continue or touch Reset to set the timer back to 1 minute. Contacts Store contact information for your friends, family and colleagues, to quickly access information or to send a message. For more information, refer to “Contacts” on page 40. From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Contacts. Downloads Files, apps, and other items you download in Browser, Gmail, Email, or in other ways, are stored on your tablet’s internal storage. Use the Downloads app to view, reopen, or delete what you have downloaded. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Downloads . 2.Touch the Internet downloads or Other downloads tab.
923. Touch a download item to open it. 4.Touch headings for earlier downloads to view them. 5.To delete items, touch the check box to the left of each item you want to delete. Then touch Delete. Touch Deselect all to remove all check marks. Warning!: When you delete an item, it is deleted from your device’s storage or SD card. Dual Clock Display the date and time for two different locations. 1.Navigate to the desired Home screen, then touch and hold on the screen to display the Add to Home screen menu. 2.Touch Widgets ➔ Dual clock . The Dual clock widget displays, which is actually two widgets. Each widget displays the digital time, the date, and a city name. 3.Touch either widget to choose a different city than the one currently displayed. FM Radio The built-in FM radio in your device provides free music from your local FM radio stations. For more information, refer to “FM Radio” on page 69. Tip: A shortcut to FM radio appears on the Main Home screen by default. From the Home screen, touch FM radio . – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔FM radio. Tip: A shortcut to Gmail appears on the Main Home screen by default. From the Home screen, touch Gmail. – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Gmail. Google Search Search the internet, and your device, using the GoogleTM search engine. For more information, refer to “Google Search” on page 64. Tip: The Google Search widget appears by default on the main Home screen. From the Home screen, touch Google Search . – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Google Search . InternetYour device includes a full HTML Browser, to access the internet. For more information, refer to “Internet” on page 55. Tip: By default, Internet appears as a Primary Shortcut on Home screens. From a Home screen, touch Internet . Latitude With Google Latitude, you can see the location of all of your friends on a map or on a list. You can also share or hide your location. You must first set up your device to use wireless networks to help pinpoint your location. Also, Latitude works best when Wi-Fi is enabled. From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Latitude.
94 Maps Use Google Maps to find your current location, get directions, and other location-based information. For more information, refer to “Maps” on page 60. Tip: A shortcut to Google Maps appears on the Main Home screen by default. From the Home screen, touch Maps . – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Maps. Note: You must enable location services to use Maps. Some features require Standalone or Google location services. For more information, refer to “Location and Security” on page 111. Market Browse for new Android applications, games, or downloads for your device. You must have a Google account set up on your device to download a new application. Tip: A shortcut to Market appears on the Main Home screen by default. 1.From the Home screen, touch Market. – or – From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Market. 2.The first time you open Market, read the Terms of Service, then touch Accept to continue. 3.Browse for items to install Apps, Games, Books, and Movies, which includes new downloads and updates to applications already installed on your device. 4.Touch the FEATURED tab to view featured items. Touch the CATEGORIES tab to narrow your search. Touch tabs such as TOP SELLING, TOP PAID, and TOP FREE to view items in order of popularity. 5.While browsing, touch the Menu Key for the following options: My Apps / Books / Movies: Displays Apps, Games, Books, and Movies already on your device. Touch an item for more information about the item and to install, open, update, or uninstall it. Settings: Display settings for the Market app. Accounts: Touch the account you want to use. : Get help for using Android Market.

Composing a Memo 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Memo. 2.Touch Create memo. – or – Touch the Menu Key ➔ Create. 3.Compose the memo, then touch Save. For more information, refer to “Entering Text Using the Samsung Keypad” on page 32. Memo List Options While viewing the list of Memos: 1.Touch the Menu Key for the following options: : Create a new memo. / Minimize: Show a maximum or minimum number of lines for each memo. Delete: Select one or all memos and touch Delete. : Find a word or words in your memos. 2.Touch and hold a memo in the list to display the following option: Send via: Touch Bluetooth or Email to send the memo by the selected method. For more information, refer to “Bluetooth” on page 81. 3.Touch Edit on a memo in the list to open and edit the memo. 4.Touch Delete on a memo to display the Delete option. Touch OK to delete the selected memo. Memo Options 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Memo. 2.Touch Edit on a memo in the list to open and edit the memo. 3.Touch one of the color examples at the bottom of the screen to change the color of the memo being displayed. Touch Save to accept the color. 4.Touch the Menu Key for the following option: Send via: Touch Bluetooth or Email to send the memo by the selected method. 96 Mini Diar y Use Mini Diary to record daily happenings. Note: Mini Diary includes weather information for your location. Sending location details to get weather information requires connection to the network. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Mini Diary. The Select city screen displays. 2.Touch Add, enter a city to search for, touch the desired city, and touch Add. 3.Touch Create diary. 4.Touch Tap to add photo to add a photo, then touch Camera to take a new picture or touch Images to choose a picture from the Gallery. 5.Touch Add location to enter a location. Touch Done to save the location or Cancel exit without saving. 6.Touch Tap to create memo to enter a text memo. Touch Done to save the memo or Cancel exit without saving. 7.Touch AccuWeather.com to check the latest weather data or touch the weather icon in the upper left corner and select a weather condition from the list. 8.Touch Save to save your diary entry. Tip: Mini Diary is also available through the Days Samsung Widget, to display diary entries right on the Home screen. For information about displaying widgets on the Home screen, see “Adding Widgets to the Home screen” on page 21. Publishing a Diar y Entr y You can publish your diary entries to Facebook. 1.From a Home screen, touch Applications ➔Mini Diary. 2.Touch a diary entry to display it, then touch Menu Key ➔ Publish. 3.Choose Facebook or MySpace, then follow the prompts to update your status. Note: If you have not set up your Facebook or MySpace account, you will be asked to do so before you can publish your diary entries.
