For most applications, the Display Color controls in the Calibration menu are adequate for 
producing accurate and realistic colors from a variety of sources. 
In rare cases, though, you may need more precise control over the VX-2ix display color 
gamut (range). For example, you may require a unique color gamut for a given projector or 
application. In such cases, you can access the VX-2ix’s color gamut controls via serial

Required Hardware 
and Software
To perform these adjustments, you need the following:
 Laptop or desktop PC with a DB-9 serial port.
 A straight-through (not null-modem) serial cable (DB-9 female to DB-9 male). 
 A DB-9 female-to-3.5mm phono plug adapter. 
 Terminal emulation software – HyperTerminal or equivalent. 
 Color analyzer – Sencore ColorPro 5000 software and ColorPro III sensor, or 
equivalent.

4. Connect the color sensor to any available COM or USB port. 
5. Launch HyperTerminal. Open a connection using these parameters: 19200 baud,

Adjusting the Gamut
1. In HyperTerminal, type gamut white and press . The VX-2ix displays a 
white field on the screen and the current x and y coordinates for white on the 
command line. 
2. Using the color analyzer, measure the x and y coordinates for about 15 seconds. 
Make a note of the results. 
3. In HyperTerminal, use the gamut set white command to change the x and y 
coordinates to the values you obtained in Step 2. For...

9. Type gamut green and press . The VX-2ix displays a green field on the 
screen and the current x and y coordinates for green on the command line. 
10. Repeat Step 2.
11. In HyperTerminal, use the gamut set green command to change the x and y 
coordinates to the values you obtained in Step 10. 
12. To confirm the change, repeat Step 9. The displayed x and y values should match 
what you just entered.
