When the camera detects a person’s face in the 
image, the Face Detection function displays a 
yellow face detection frame around the face on the 
display screen, sets the focus (Face Detection AF) 
and compensates the exposure (Face Detection 
AE).
If the subject in the face detection frame moves, 
the frame also moves and changes its size as it 
tracks the face.
The Face Detection function can recognize up 
to 32 people’s faces. If it recognizes multiple

In 9  (Green) mode, you can enjoy easy  picture-taking with standard settings, 
regardless of the settings made from the [ A Rec. Mode] menu.
The  9 mode settings are as shown below.
1Press the Green button in  A 
mode.
The camera switches to  9 mode.
Press the Green button again to return to 
the mode before  9 mode was selected.
When the camera detects a person’s face,

Use Shutter Priority mode to set the desired speed for expressing subject 
movement.
1Use the four-way controller ( 2345) to select  b (Shutter 
Priority) mode from the Capture Mode Palette.
2Press the  4 button.The  b mode is selected.
3Press the Movie button.The shutter speed adjustment screen appears.
4Use the four-way controller ( 23) 
to change the shutter speed.
5Press the  4 button.The shutter speed is set and the camera returns to capture mode.

In e (Pet) mode, the camera automatically releases the shutter when the pet is detected.
1Use the four-way controller (2345) to select  e(Pet) from 
the Capture Mode Palette.

In this mode, a set number of pictures can be taken automatically at a set interval 
from a set time.
1Use the four-way controller (2345) to select  (Interval 
Shot) from the Capture Mode Palette.
