    Important Safeguar ds
    Lamp Replacement
    ¥Be sure to replace the lamp when the Status light comes on. If you
    continue to use the lamp after 1000 hours of use, the lamp will
    turn off.
    ¥ Allo w a minim um of ONE min ute to elapse between turning the
    lamp of f and on. High v oltage is applied to the lamp immedia tel y
    w hen the po wer is tur ned on.  Ther efor e turning the po wer of f and
    quickly back on may shorten the life of your lamp and result in
    damage to y our Da ta pr ojector.
    Fire and Shock Precautions
    1. Ensur e that ther e is suf ficient v entilation and tha t vents ar e
    unobstr ucted to pr event the b uild-up of hea t inside your Data
    pr ojector . Allow a t least 10cm (3 inc hes) of space between your
    Data pr ojector and a w all.
    2. Prev ent foreign objects suc h as paper clips and bits of pa per from
    f alling into y our Da ta projector. Do not a ttempt to r etrieve an y
    objects tha t might fall into y our projector . Do not inser t any metal
    objects suc h as a wire or screwdriver into y our Data pr ojector. If
    something should f all into your projector , disconnect it immedi-
    atel y and ha ve the object r emo ved by a qualified PLUS ser vice
    person.
    3. Do not place an y liquids on top of y our Data projector.
    ¥ Do not look into the lens while the projector is on. Serious
    damage to your eyes could result.
    Carrying around
    When carrying this device around, please use the carrying case that
    comes with it and to pr otect the lens from scratches, always install
    the lens cap.  Also,  do not subject the pr ojector main unit to str ong
    mechanical shock.
    These safety instructions are to ensure the long life of your Data
    pr ojector and to pr event fire and shoc k. Please read them car efull y
    and heed all w ar nings.
    Installation
    1. For best r esults, use y our Data pr ojector in a darkened r oom.
    2. Place the pr ojector on a f la t, level surf ace in a dr y area away fr om
    dust and moisture.
    3. Do not place your Data projector in direct sunlight, near heaters
    or heat radiating appliances.
    4. Exposur e to direct sunlight,  smoke or steam can har m internal
    components.
    5. Handle y our Data projector car efull y. Dropping or jar ring can
    damage internal components.
    6. Do not place hea vy objects on top of the Da ta projector .
    7. If installing the Data projector on the ceiling:
    a. The ceiling must be strong enough to support the Data projec-
    tor and the installa tion must be in accor dance with any local
    b uilding codes.
    b. The Data  projector m ust be installed b y qualified PLUS  service
    personnel.
    Power Supply
    1. The Da ta pr ojector is designed to oper ate on a po wer suppl y of
    100-120 or 220-240  V 50/60 Hz AC. Ensur e that your po wer
    suppl y f its this requirement bef ore attempting to use y our Da ta
    pr ojector .
    2. Handle the po wer ca ble car efully and a void e xcessi v e bending . A
    dama ged cor d can cause electr ic shock or fire.
    3. If the Da ta projector is not to be used f or an extended per iod of
    time ,  disconnect the plug fr om the power outlet.
    Cleaning
    1. Unplug the Data projector before cleaning.
    2. Clean the ca binet periodically with a damp c loth. If heavily
    soiled ,  use a mild deter gent. Ne ver use str ong detergents or
    solv ents suc h as alcohol or thinner .
    3. Use a b lower or lens pa per to clean the lens,  and be careful not to
    scratch or mar the lens.

    This section intr oduces you to your new PLUS UP-800 Da ta
    Projector, pro vides a list of ma terials that comes with y our
    projector and describes the features and controls.
    Congratulations On  Your Purchase Of The UP-800
    Data Projector
    T he UP-800 is one of the v ery best Da ta projector s available
    today. T he UP-800 ena bles you to project precise images up
    to 300 inches across (measured diagonally) from your PC or
    Macintosh computer (desktop or note book),  VCR, docu-
    ment camer a, or even a laser disc pla yer.
    Y ou can use the pr ojector on a tabletop or car t, y ou can
    permanently mount it on a ceiling*, or you can use UP-800
    Data Projector to project images from behind the screen.
    The r emote contr ol can be used wir elessly and y ou can e ven
    use the r emote contr ol with the r emote mouse r eceiver to
    operate the mouse on your PC or Mac.
    The features youÕll enjoy include:
    ¥ Super ior brightness of 600  ANSI lumens with  A4 size and
    4.5 kilograms.
    T he DMD and our o wn optical design inter act in a geo-
    metr ic effect to incr ease the light usa ge ef ficiency . Now
    you can reproduce the 3 basic colors (RGB) required for
    color r eproduction on a single DMD . That means supe-
    rior brightness, smaller size and lighter weight.
    ¥ Sharp, clear images
    There is no RGB color running, and the spaces between
    the indi vidual bots do not stic k out. That means shar p and
    clear repr oduction of small c haracters and figures. Take a
    c loser look and notice the dif ference in quality!
    ¥ Outstanding beauty w hen reproducing D VDs and other
    high picture-quality information sources.
    F aithful r eproduction of g radations of b lack and w hite for
    more na tural image displa ys. The pr ojector can bring its
    intr insic displa y capacities e ven more to bear with D VDs
    and other high picture-quality information sources.
    ¥ Screen does not distort to a trapezoid when projecting to
    the height of the of vision.
    Because the projection position is already set to the
    height of the line of vision, there is no distortion of the
    screen to a trapezoid.
    ¥ Fully compatib le with SVGA, XGA compr essed display.
    There is complementing of thinned out information when
    displaying XGAs to eliminate missing characters.Note: Composite video standards are as follows:
    NTSC: U.S. TV standard for video in U.S. and Canada.
    PAL: TV standard used in western Europe
    SECAM: TV standard used in France and Eastern Europe
    NTSC4.43:TV standard used in Middle East countries
    ¥The remote control can be used with or without a cable,
    and y ou can e ven use the r emote to oper ate y our PC or
    Macintosh mouse wirelessly from across the room with
    the r emote mouse r eceiver.

    ¥ The contemporary cabinet design is compact, easy to

    Use this b utton to tur n the power on and of f w hen Main
    Power Switc h is on and the Da ta projector is on standb y.
    (W hen this b utton is pr essed and held f or at least tw o
    seconds, the ÒDisplay MuteÓ mode will be canceled.)
    2 Menu Button
    Displays the on- screen menu.
    3 Select Button
    After y ou press the  ÒMenuÓ button,  use this b utton to
    select the menu icon of the item you wish to adjust.
    4 Enter Button
    Executes y our men u selection.
    5 (+) (Ð)  Adjust Button
    Use these b uttons while you r e in the Image Adjust mode
    to c hang e the le vel of a selected men u item. These b uttons
    ar e also used to set an item in the P ower or Settings
    menus.
    6 STANDBY Indica tor
    When ST ANDBY is s witched On,  the g reen LED b links
    for about one minute, then lights up.
    If the po wer is on and y ou switc h it of f by pr essing PO WER
    OFF on the r emote controller or the ST ANDBY button on
    the projector main unit operation section, the green LED
    blinks for one minute, then lights up and the projector goes
    on standby.
    * The projector will not accept operation instructions for
    the one minute during which the LED is blinking during
    switching on or off as described above.
    7 Status Indicator
    W hen this is lit r ed contin ually,  its warning y ou that the
    pr ojection lamp has e xceed 1100 hours of service. After
    this light appears, it is advisable to replace the projection
    lamp as soon as possible.(See page E-27.)
    W hen the oper ating time of the lamp e xceeds 1000 hours,
    the ST ATUS indica tor is lit red continually. In ad dition
    the messag e LAMP USA GE XX HOURS a ppears con-
    tinually when the on-screen menu is not displayed.
    If this light b links r ed rapidly,  it indicates that either the
    lamp house or f ilter cover is not a ttached properly; if the
    light b links slo wl y it means the projectors internal tem-
    peratur e is too hot to oper ate safely. See the Sta tus Light
    Messages on page E-29 for more details.

    							Terminal Panel Features
    This panel is located in the side and is where you connect your
    cables.
    1 Video Input
    Connect a  VCR, laser disk pla yer, or document camer a
    here to project video.
    Left Channel/Mono  Audio Input J ack
    This is your left channel audio input for stereo sound
    coming fr om video equipment or audio system.  This also
    serves as y our monaur al audio input.
    Right Channel  Audio Input J ack
    This is your right channel audio input for stereo sound.
    S-V ideo Input
    Her e is w here y ou connect S-V ideo input from an exter-
    nal source lik e a VCR.
    2 PC Control Port
    Port f or settings a t time of shipment fr om factor y.
    3 RGB Input Connector (D-Sub 15 pin)
    Connect your PC or other RGB equipment such as IBM
    or compatible computers. Use the signal cable thats sup-
    plied to connect to a PC.
    RGB A udio Input Mini J ack
    This is where you connect RGB audio output from a
    computer or another RGB source.
    NOTE:  S-Video provides more vivid color and higher resolution
    than the traditional composite video format.
