3.2Interactive TV Benefits Interactive TV can offer additional infotainment or programmeson a digital TV channel. Interactive TV is dependent on thecountry or broadcast. 3.3Multimedia Browse USB You can view photos or play your music and videos from a USBmemory device.Insert a USB device in the USB connection on the left-hand sideof the TV while the TV is switched on. The TV detects thedevice and opens a list showing its content. If the list does not appear automatically, press h, select Browse USB and pressOK. To close Browse USB, press h and select another activity ordisconnect the USB device. View photosTo view photos, select a photo in the list and press OK. If thereare more photos in the folder, the TV starts a slideshow of thesephotos. To stop, press o (Options) and select Stop. To pause or play the slideshow again, press OK. To view the next photo, press W. To view the previous photo, press X. Options for photos Press o (Options) to select the following:• Show info• Stop• Play once / Repeat• Rotate• Shuffle on / off• Slideshow speed• Slideshow transition• Set as Scenea Shuffle onPlays the files randomly. Scenea With Scenea, you can set a photo as a painting on your TV screen.Select your favourite photo from your collection. To open Scenea, press h, select Scenea and press OK. Select a photo for Scenea1 Select a photo from a connected USB device or from aconnected PC. This photo must be in JPEG format.2 With the photo highlighted in the Browse USB or Browse PC list, press o (Options) , select Set as Scenea and press OK. Byagreeing to overwrite the current photo, the new photo is set. Scenea lounge light To switch off Ambilight when Scenea is on, press s (Adjust). Or press J (Ambilight) on the front of the TV. Energy saving To switch the TV to the energy conscious setting, press s(Adjust), select Smart picture and press OK. Select Energysaving. SpecificsWith Scenea switched on, the TV will automatically switch tostandby after 4 hours. You will be warned 1 minute beforeswitch off. This automatic switch to standby prevents unnecessaryenergy use in case you forget that Scenea is on. 3.4Locks and timers Child locks To prevent children from watching a channel or a programme, youcan lock channels or block age - rated programmes. Parental ratingSome digital broadcasters have programmes rated. When therating is equal or higher than the rating you have set for yourchild’s age, the programme will be blocked. To watch a blocked programme you must enter the Child lockcode. The parental age rating is set for all channels. Set an age rating Press h and select Setup > Channel settings and select Childlock > Parental rating.To select an age rating, you must first enter your 4 digit childlock code. If no child lock code is set, you can set the codenow. When the code is entered, you can select the age rating. Whenthe rating of a programme is equal or higher than the rating youhave set for your childs age, the programme will be blocked.The TV will ask for the code to unblock the programme. Forsome operators, the TV only blocks programmes with a higherrating. Lock a channel To lock a channel, press h and select Setup > Channel settingsand select Child lock > Channel lock. In the list of channelnumbers, select a channel and press OK to lock a channel. In the list, a locked channel is marked with an X. Now, you canselect another channel to lock or unlock. The lock is activated assoon as you close the menu. You cannot lock programmes from connected devices. Change code To change the current code, press h and select Setup >Channel settings and select Child lock > Change code.Enter the current code and then enter the new code twice. Thenew code is set. Forgotten your code ?To override the code if you forget it, enter 8888. Sleep timer With Sleep timer you can switch the TV to standby at a specifiedtime. To set the sleep timer, press h > Setup > TV settings >Preferences > Sleep timer. With the slider bar you can set thetime up to 180 minutes in increments of 5 minutes. 3.5Subtitles and languages Subtitles Programme subtitles are available most of the time. You can setsubtitles to be constantly displayed. How to set constant subtitlesdepends on whether a channel is analogue or digital. For digitalchannels, a preferred subtitle language can be set. For analogue channelsTo show subtitles of a channel, switch to the channel and press e (Browse), select Text and press OK. Enter the number of the page that shows subtitles, usually 888, and press e(Browse) again to close Text. Subtitles will be shown if available.Each analogue channel must be set up separately. For digital channelsThere is no need to activate subtitles in Text for digital channels.You can set a preferred primary and secondary subtitle language.If these subtitle languages are not available for a channel, you canselect another available subtitle language. To set the primary and secondary subtitle language, press h andselect Setup > Channel settings and select Languages > Primaryand Secondary subtitles. To select a subtitle language when none of your preferred languages is shown, press o (Options), select Subtitle languageand select a language you want temporarily. Subtitle menu To open the subtitle menu, press j. In the Subtitle menu, you can switch subtitles On or Off. SelectOn during mute to show subtitles only when the sound is muted with m. Audio languages Digital TV channels can broadcast audio that transmits severallanguages for a program. You can set the TV to switch to yourpreferred language if it is available. To set your preferred audio language, press h and select Setup> Channel settings and select Languages > Primary andSecondary audio. The TV will automatically switch to thelanguages you set, if the language is being broadcast. To check if an audio language is available, press o (Options) andselect Audio language. You can select another audio languagefrom the list. Some digital TV channels broadcast special audio and subtitlesadapted for people who are hearing or visually impaired. 3.6Universal access Switch on With Universal access switched on, the TV is set for use for hearingand visually impaired people. Switch onIf you did not switch on Universal access at first use, you can stillswitch it on in Setup. To switch on Universal access, press h > Setup > TV settings> Preferences > Universal access. Select On and press OK. With Universal access switched on in Setup, the Universal accessoption is added in the Options menu. With Universal menu inthe Options menu, you can set specific settings for hearing andvisually impaired people. Hearing impaired Some digital TV channels broadcast special audio and subtitlesadapted for hearing impaired people. With Hearing impairedswitched on, the TV automatically switches to the adapted audioand subtitles, if available. Switch on To switch on Hearing impaired, press o (Options), selectUniversal access and press OK. Select Hearing impaired, selectOn and press OK. To check whether a hearing impaired audio language is available, press o (Options), select Audio language and look for an audio language marked with a î. If Universal access does not appear in the Options menu, switchon Universal access in the Setup. Read Help > More on … >Universal access > Switch on. Visually impaired In some countries, some digital TV channels broadcast specialaudio adapted for visually impaired people. The adapted audiohas extra commentary. Switch on To switch on Visually impaired, press o (Options), selectUniversal access and press OK. Select Visually impaired andselect On or, if available, select the speakers the adapted audioshould be played from. If available, the TV will play the visuallyimpaired audio. Volume - Visually impairedIf available, you can set the volume of the extra commentary. To check whether a visually impaired audio language is available, press o (Options), select Audio language and look for an audio language marked with a Ï. If Universal access does not appear in the Options menu, switchon Universal access in the Setup. Read Help > More on … >Universal access > Switch on. Key beep Key beep gives an audio feedback each time you press a key onthe remote control. The volume of the beep is fixed. Switch on To switch on Key beep, press o (Options), select Universalaccess and press OK. Select Key beep and select On. 4 4.1 Setup Picture, Sound, Ambilight Smart settings You can adjust each Smart setting with the settings in Picture orSound in Setup, TV settings. Adjust the brightness for a particularSmart picture or adjust the bass for a Smart sound. To return to the original smart setting values, undoing theadjustments you made, first set up the TV in the smart setting you want to reset. Then press h > Setup > TV settings, selectReset, press OK and confirm. Read more about Smart picture and sound settings in Help >Use your TV > Watch TV > Smart picture and sound settings. Picture In the Picture menu, you can adjust all picture settings individually. To open the Picture settings, press h > Setup > TV settings >Picture. • ContrastSets the contrast level of the picture.• BrightnessSets the brightness level of the picture.• ColourSets the level of colour saturation. • HueIf NTSC is broadcast, hue compensates the colour variations.• SharpnessSets the level of sharpness of fine detail.• Noise reductionFilters out and reduces the image noise in the picture. • TintSets the colours to Normal, Warm (reddish) or Cool (bluish).Select Custom to set up your own personal settings in theCustom menu.• Custom tintUse the slider bar to set the colour temperature of the picture. • Perfect Pixel HDControls the advanced settings of the Perfect Pixel HD Engine.— Perfect Natural Motion removes motion judder andreproduces smooth movement, especially in movies. — 200 Hz Clear LCD / 100 Hz Clear LCD gives a superiormotion sharpness, better black level, high contrast with a flicker -free, quiet image and a larger viewing angle.— Super resolution enables superior sharpness, especially onlines and contours in the picture. — Perfect contrast sets the level at which the TV automaticallyenhances the details in the dark, middle and light areas of thepicture. — Dynamic backlight sets the level at which power consumptioncan be reduced by dimming the brightness intensity of the screen.Choose for the best power consumption or for the picture withthe best brightness intensity.— MPEG artefact reduction smooths the digital transitions in thepicture. — Colour enhancement makes the colours more vivid andimproves the resolution of details in bright colours.• PC modeSets the TV to the ideal pre-defined computer setting if acomputer has been connected. • Light sensorAdjusts the picture and Ambilight settings automatically to thelighting conditions of the room.• Picture formatRead Help > Use your TV > Watch TV > Picture format. • Screen edgesSlightly enlarge the picture to hide distorted edges.• Picture shiftMove the picture up / down or left / right with the cursor keys. Sound In the Sound menu, you can adjust all sound settings individually. To open Sound settings, press h > Setup > TV settings >Sound. • BassSets the level of low tones in the sound.• TrebleSets the level of high tones in the sound.• SurroundSets the surround sound effect from internal speakers. • Headphones volumeSets the volume for the headphone connection of the TV.• Auto volume levellingReduces sudden volume differences like at the beginning ofadverts or when switching from one channel to another. • BalanceSets the balance of the left and right speakers to best fit yourlistening position. Ambilight Read the chapter Ambilight in Help > Use your TV > Ambilight. Eco settings Eco settings bundle the TV settings that help the environment. While watching TV, press the Green key to open Eco settings. Active settings are marked with a ê.Press again to close. Energy savingThis Smart picture setting sets the picture, together withAmbilight, in the most ideal energy conscious setting. To switchon, select Energy saving in Eco settings and press OK.To switch off Energy saving, select another Smart picture in the s Adjust menu. Mute screenIf you only listen to music, you can mute the TV screen to saveenergy. Select Mute screen and press OK. To switch the screenback on, press any key on the remote control. Light sensorThe built -in light sensor automatically adjusts the picture, togetherwith Ambilight, to the lighting conditions of the room. To switchon, select Light sensor and press OK. 4.2Channels Reorder and rename You can reorder and rename channels in the Channel list. To reorder or rename a channel, read Help > Use your TV > Menus > e Browse. Update channels On first use, the TV installed all channels in the Channel list. If theTV installed digital channels, the TV can automatically update theChannel list with new channels. You can also start an update of theChannel list yourself. The update is for digital channels only. Automatic channel updateOnce a day, at 6 AM, the TV updates the channels and storesnew channels. Empty channels are removed. For new or removedchannels, a message is shown at TV start up. The TV must be inStandby to automatically update channels. To switch off the message at start up, press h > Setup >Channel settings and press OK. Select Channel installation >Channel update message and select Off. To switch off the automatic channel update, press h > Setup >Channel settings and press OK. Select Channel installation >Automatic channel update and select Off. Start an updateTo start an update the channel list for new channels yourself, press h > Setup > Search for channels and press OK. SelectUpdate channels and press OK. Press Start. The update can takea few minutes. Follow the instructions on screen. DVB- T or DVB- C If both DVB- T and DVB- C reception is available in your country and ifthis TV is ready to receive DVB- T and DVB- C for your country, youwill have selected one or the other with the channel installation onfirst use. If you want to change the DVB setting to start a new channel installation, press h > Setup > Channel settings and press OK.Select Channel installation > Antenna or Cable DVB and pressOK. Select the DVB setting you want. DVB -C channel installationFor ease of use, all DVB-C settings are set to automatic. If yourDVB-C provider gave you specific DVB-C values, like a symbolrate or a frequency, enter these values when the TV asks forthem during installation. DVB -T + DVB -CYou can set up your TV for DVB-T and DVB-C. Install onesystem followed by the other. When both installations arecomplete, the Channel list will show both DVB-T and DVB-Cchannels. Reinstall On first use, the TV installed all channels in the Channel list. You canredo this full installation to reset your language, country and install allavailable TV channels. Full installation To reinstall the TV, press h > Setup > Search for channelsand press OK. Select Reinstall channels and press OK. PressStart. The update can take a few minutes. Follow the instructionson screen. You can reorder and rename channels in the Channel list. Reception quality If you receive digital TV broadcasting (DVB), you can check the qualityand signal strength of a channel.If you use an antenna, you can reposition the antenna to try andimprove the reception. To check the reception quality of a digital channel, switch to the channel and press h > Setup > Channel settings and pressOK. Select Channel installation > Digital : reception test andpress OK. The digital frequency is shown for this channel. If the reception ispoor, you can reposition your antenna. To check the signalquality of this frequency again, select Search and press OK. To enter a specific digital frequency yourself, select the frequency, position the arrows on a number with x and w and change the number with u and v. To check the frequency, select Searchand press OK. If you use DVB-C to receive channels, the options Symbol ratemode and Symbol rate are available. For Symbol rate mode,select Automatic unless your cable provider gave you a specificsymbol rate value. To enter the symbol rate value, use thenumber keys. Manual installation — Analogue Analogue TV channels can be manually tuned in channel by channel. To install analogue channels manually, press h > Setup >Channel settings and press OK. Select Channel installation >Analogue : manual installation and press OK. 1 SystemTo set up the TV system, select System and press OK. Selectyour country or part of the world where you are now. 2 Find channelTo find a channel, select Find channel and press OK. SelectSearch and press OK. You can also enter a frequency yourself. Ifthe reception is poor, press Search again. If you want to storethe channel, select Done and press OK. 3 Fine tuneTo fine tune a channel, select Fine tune and press OK. You can fine tune the channel with u or v. If you want to store thefound channel, select Done and press OK. 4 StoreYou can store the channel on the current channel number or asa new channel number. Select Store current channel or Store asnew channel. You can redo these steps until you find all available analogue TVchannels. Clock settings In some countries, digital broadcasts do not send UTC - CoordinatedUniversal Time information. The daylight saving change might beignored and the TV might show an incorrect time. To correct the TV clock, press h > Setup > TV settings >Preferences > Clock and select Country dependent. SelectDaylight saving and select the appropriate setting.To set the time and date manually, select Manual. Then selectTime or Date. 48Setup / Channels
4.3Satellite channels Introduction As well as the DVB-T and DVB-C reception, this TV has a built -in satellite DVB -S receiver. With a satellite dish antennaconnected, you can receive digital satellite channels. You do notneed an external satellite receiver. LNBAn LNB -Low Noise Block-downconverter - captures the signalsfrom a satellite and is mounted at the end of the pole on thedish antenna. The TV can receive signals from 4 different LNBs. Installation With a properly set- up and connected satellite dish antenna, you caninstall satellite channels on the TV.You can install channels from 4 different satellites (4 LNBs). 1 Install To search for satellites and install satellite channels, press h >Setup > Search for satellite and press OK. If you have alreadyinstalled satellites, select Reinstall channels and press OK. 2 Connection typeBefore you select Start, you must set up the connection type.The connection type will determine the number of LNBs (thenumber of different satellites) you can install. For ease of use,select the correct type for the number of satellites you want toinstall. To set up the connection type, select Settings and press OK.Select Connection type and select One LNB if you have onlyone LNB, select DiSEqC Mini for 2 LNBs or select DiSEqC 1.0to install 3 or 4 LNBs. Select Done to close the settings. 3 Search for satellitesTo start the installation, select Start and press OK. The TVsearches for all available satellites. This can take several minutes. Ifno satellites are found, check the antenna connections and theposition of the dish antenna. The signal quality shown is not always representative of the signalquality of all channels on that satellite.To repeat the search for satellites, select Restart and press OK.If you are satisfied with the satellites found, you can install alltheir channels. 4 Install channelsTo install all channels for the satellites you found, press Install.The installation can take several minutes per satellite.When the installation is finished, you can find all channels in thesatellite Channel list. More settingsFor most satellites, you do not need to change the LNB settingsbut, if you are searching for a specific satellite on C -band forinstance, you need to set the LNB you use for this satellite toSingle. Or, if you are an expert user, you might need a Customsetting for the LNBs you use. ResetYou might have lost track of the settings you set up.To reset the satellite installation settings to factory settings, selectReset in Settings and press OK. Signal reception testThe automatic channel install might have missed a specific channelor channels from a transponder. You can add a transponder withSignal reception test. Read Help > Setup > Satellite channels >Signal reception test. Dish antenna connectionRead more about the antenna connection for satellite in Help >Connections > First connections > Satellite antenna. Add or Remove If satellite channels are already installed, you can add an extrasatellite to the installation. You can install channels from 4 differentsatellites - 4 LNBs. 1 Connection typeCheck the Connection type setting before you add a satellite.The setting One LNB receives only one LNB, the setting DiSEqCMini receives only 2 LNBs and the setting DiSEqC 1.0 canreceive 3 or 4 LNBs. To check the Connection type first, press h > Setup > Searchfor satellite and press OK. Select Reinstall channels and selectSettings and press OK. Select Connection type and select thesetting you need for the number of satellites you want to install. Select Done to close the settings. Press b to close Reinstallchannels. 2 Add a satellite To add a satellite, press h > Setup > Search for satellite andpress OK. Select Add satellite and press OK. The TV searchesfor a satellite on the first free LNB. This can take several minutes. If no satellites are found, check the antenna connections and theposition of the dish antenna. Select Restart or Next LNB.If there are no free LNBs, you can remove a satellite first. ReadRemove satellite in Help > Setup > Satellite channels > Removechannels. 3 Install channelsIf you are satisfied with the added satellite, you can install thechannels.To install all channels, press Install. The installation can takeseveral minutes. When the installation is complete, you can findthe added channels in the satellite Channel list. You can remove a satellite from your satellite installation. To remove a satellite, press h > Setup > Search for satellite.Select Remove satellite and press OK. Select the satellite youwant to remove and press OK. To confirm, select Yes and pressOK. The satellite and its channels are removed from theinstallation. Update channels Setup / Satellite channels49
If satellite channels are already installed, you can update the channellist with possible new channels from all installed satellites. To update the satellite channels, press h > Setup > Search forsatellite. Select Update channels and press OK. The TV scansthe satellites for new channels and adds them to the list. Emptychannels are removed from the list. The update can take severalminutes per satellite. When the update has finished, the Channellist for satellite is updated. Signal reception test With Signal reception test for satellites, you can check the signalstrength of a satellite or you can add a new satellite channel. To start Signal reception test, press h > Setup > Search forsatellite. Select Signal reception test and press OK.1 Select the LNB.2 If you know the frequency of the transponder (which can holdseveral channels), select Frequency and enter it.3 Select Search and press OK. 4 If the TV finds a frequency and there is a store button shown,a new transponder has been found.5 Press Store to add the new transponder with its channel orchannels to the Channel list.To add another transponder, select Exit and repeat the steps. Troubleshooting The TV cannot install the satellite I want• Check the orientation of the dish antenna.• Check the setting for the LNB that you use for this satellite.• Check the Connection type in the satellite installation settings. • Reset all Satellite settings if you lost track of the settings youchanged. Read Help > Setup > Satellite channels > Installation. The reception of a satellite channel is poor• Check the orientation of the dish antenna. Sometimes the reception is poor• Check if the dish antenna is solidly mounted. Strong winds canmove the dish.• Snow and rain can degrade reception.
