81 PC Connection Web Camera 3Connect the Palmcorder to your PC (Windows) using the USB Cable (supplied). “Found New Hardware” is displayed. “CONNECT WITH PC” and “WEBCAM” are displayed in the EVF and LCD monitor. Position the Palmcorder so that you are in the picture. To confirm if the connection between the Palmcorder and PC is correct, please refer to “Audio Tuning Wizard” on page 86. When the Palmcorder and PC (with Windows 2000) are connected via USB, a message, such as the one below, is displayed. The following message is displayed. However, testing by the manufacturer has confirmed functionality of this Palmcorder with Windows 2000. Click [Yes] and proceed. 4Go to step 5 below. For Windows 2000 users 3Connect the Palmcorder to your PC (Windows) using the USB Cable (supplied). “CONNECT WITH PC” and “WEBCAM” are displayed in the EVF and LCD monitor. Position the Palmcorder so that you are in the picture. To confirm if the connection between the Palmcorder and PC is correct, please refer to “Audio Tuning Wizard” on page 86. When connecting for the first time using Windows 98SE or Me, the OS installation CD may be required. 4Go to step 5 below. 5Connect the A/V Cable (supplied) to the Audio Adaptor (supplied). For PCs with no built-in mic, connecting the A/V Cable (supplied) to the Audio Adaptor (supplied), the Palmcorder replaces the mic. If the speaker and mic are in close proximity, howling may occur. Do not disconnect the USB Cable while in use. This could be a source of trouble. For more details, please read the respective Help file. Close the application, then disconnect the USB Cable. For more details, please read the corresponding Help file. Note Once settings are performed, they are not required from the second time the software is run. 1Turn on your PC. 2Click on “Start,” “All programs,” “Windows Messenger.” “Windows Messenger” screen is opened. 3Click on [About Windows Messenger] in the [Help] menu. Confirm that your version (Windows Messenger) is 4.5 or later. If you have a version older than 4.5, please download the latest version (4.5 or later) from the Microsoft Home Page: http://www.microsoft.com/ http://www.msn.com/ For download and installation instructions, please refer to Help on the Home Page. 4The first time Windows Messenger is run, etc., the Setup screen is displayed. 83 PC Connection Web Camera (For Windows XP users) There are times when a Version Upgrade screen will be displayed. However, if you are using Windows Messenger 4.5 or later, there is no need to upgrade. 5Type in your e-mail address and password. You’ll need to get a hotmail address. If you do not have one, click on [Get a .NET Passpor t]. Please carefully read the displayed contents and then proceed. Note 6Click on [Audio and Video Tuning Wizard] in the [Tools] menu. Select [USB Audio Device] in the [Microphone] menu. You can set the volume for playback or mic volume, etc. Also, confirm that the Palmcorder and PC are connected correctly. 7Select [File] -> [Add a Contact] to register the person you wish to access in Windows Messenger. Please enter the same e-mail address that the other person has registered with Windows Messenger. After registering the e-mail address of the person you wish to access, click on [Send E-Mail] and have the person register your e-mail address as well. A message inviting the other person is displayed. The invited person side A message asking if the person accepts or declines is displayed. Click [Accept] on the screen. To ignore the invitation, click [Decline]. 10At this point you may proceed with a voice/video conversation. The invited person side The Instant Message screen appears and a confirmation message is displayed. Click on [Accept]. The NetMeeting screen is automatically opened. The first time Windows NetMeeting is run, etc., the Setup screen is displayed. Please carefully read the contents and then proceed. The user information, etc. is input. Following the directions, please complete the settings. 10Click on [Options] in the [Tools] menu to confirm Video Camera Properties. If Video is not recognized in Video Camera Properties, select Control Panel, System, Device Manager, and finally Image Device for confirmation. 11The invited person side A message asking if the person accepts or declines is displayed. Click [Accept] on the screen. To ignore the invitation, click [Decline]. 12The person calling (inviting) side “Incoming-Call” screen is displayed.
