Shoot a photo while recording a video
You can capture a photo (single frame) while recording a video.
1 While recording a video, when you see a scene you’d like to capture 
a photo of, press the [O] button.

Your camera has two zoom functions: Optical zoom and Digital zoom 
(page 55).
1 Point the camera lens at the 
subject.
2 Push the zoom switch toward

When recording videos at a high magnificationi When recording videos at a high magnification, a moving subject or 
moving camera can cause camera shake, resulting in a distorted playback 
image. This phenomenon is due to the characteristics of the MOS sensor 
and is not a malfunction.
i It is recommended that you use a tripod to stabilize the camera when 
recording videos at a high magnification.

SHOOTING UNDER WATER
This camera can be used underwater up to a depth of 3 m (10 feet) for up to 60 
minutes continuously. When shooting underwater, set the scene mode setting 
to underwater  . This setting ensures the best colors and audio recording for 
underwater photography (pages 51 and 84).

After using in water
After using the camera in water, wash it with fresh water and dry it completely.
1 Turn off the camera, and close the battery cover and terminal cover 
securely.
2 Wash the camera with fresh water.
hFill a shallow basin with fresh water, and immerse the closed camera for 
about 10 minutes. Rotate the monitor unit several times to clean it
