Playing back on a TV
You can play back the scenes and still pictures recorded with or stored in this unit on a TV.
≥The following scenes can be played back:
jScenes recorded in AVCHD
j Scenes recorded in MP4/iFrame [720]
j Scenes saved in MP4 (High Quality) or MP4 (Low Quality)
1Press Wi-Fi button and touch [DLNA Play]. ≥If you touch [Change AP], you can switch the wireless access point to another one that has been 
registered to this unit.
≥ If you touch [CANCEL], the Wi-Fi connection is canceled.
≥ When the connection is complete, the screen of this unit turns off. To display it again, touch the 
screen.
2Select this unit (SSID) by the TV side.≥Select SD media and select the motion picture ([AVCHD/MP4]) or still picture ([JPEG]) to play 
back.
3Perform playback operations with the TV remote control.≥Playback operations may differ depending on the TV in use.
≥ The following operations can be performed if a color button is 
pushed.
Blue/Red: Skip playback
≥ Fast forward/Fast rewind playback cannot be performed.
≥ You cannot perform playback operations with this unit.
To exit [DLNA Play]:Touch [EXIT] or press Wi-Fi button.
≥A message is displayed. Touch [YES] to exit.
≥Scenes recorded in the following [REC MODE] can not be played back:
jMP4/iFrame: [1080/50M]/[1080/28M]/[iFrame]
≥ The scenes may not be played back smoothly depending on your environment, such as the 
network condition.




By setting up a Wi-Fi communication between this unit and a PC, you can copy scenes and still 
pictures recorded with this unit to the PC.
APC
Preparations before using [Copy]
1Check if the wireless access point is compatible with IEEE802.11b/g/n.
2 Check if the PC and the wireless access point are connected via Wi-Fi.
≥You can also use a LAN cable to connect the PC and the wireless access point.3 Set up a Wi-Fi connection between this unit and the wireless access point.≥[WPS Connection] ( l165 )

When the Wi-Fi connection is complete, proceed to “Copying to a PC”. ( l154 )
≥Using [Wi-Fi Easy Setup], you can also set up a Wi-Fi connection in conjunction with the 
smartphone application “Image App”. ( l164 )

≥For information on the connection between a PC and a wireless access point, refer to 
the operating instruction of the device in use.
≥ If this unit and a PC are not connected to the same wireless access point, copying is

To copy scenes and still pictures by setting up a Wi-Fi connection between this unit and the PC, 
complete the following preparations:jTurn on the PC
j Create a shared folder (destination folder)

*1 The name of the folder must consist of 15 or less alphanumeric characters.
∫ When using HD Writer AE 5.1
1 Install HD Writer AE 5.1.≥For information on the operating environment and installation, refer to “Operating environment” 
(l 184 ) and “Installation” (l 187).
2Using HD Writer AE 5.1, create a destination folder.≥Select [Auto-create] or [Create manually]. The first option creates a destination folder 
automatically, while the second option allows you to specify a destination folder or create a new 
one. With the second option, you can also set password protection for a destination folder.
≥ For details, refer to the Operating Instructions of HD Writer AE 5.1 (PDF file). ( l191 )
∫When not using HD Writer AE 5.1
≥If the workgroup setting of the connected PC has been changed from the standard one, you also 
need to change the [PC Connect Setup] setting of this unit. ( l177)
≥ The user account of the PC (both the Account Name and the Password) must consist of 32 or 
less alphanumeric characters.

If you use non-alphanumeric characters for the user account, a destination folder may not be set 
up.
*2 If you use more than 32 characters for the user account, copying via a Wi-Fi connection is not  possible.

1 Select a destination folder, and right-click.
2 Select [Properties], and enable sharing of the folder.

≥Create a shared folder (destination folder) on the PC. ( l153 )
1Press Wi-Fi button and touch [Copy]. 
2Touch the PC to be connected.≥To search for PCs again, touch [Refresh].
(When the PC you want to connect to is not displayed)
Touch [Manual Setting].
3(When [Manual Setting] is touched)Enter the computer name of the PC (NetBIOS name for Mac computers).≥Enter the computer name of your PC (NetBIOS name for Mac computers).
(A maximum of 15 characters can be entered.)
≥ When the computer name (or NetBIOS name) contains a space (blank character), etc., it may not 
be recognized correctly. If a connection attempt fails, we recommend that you change the 
computer name (or NetBIOS name) to the one consisting of only alphanumeric characters, with a 
maximum of 15 characters.
≥ Input method is same operation as for setting up the title. (l 95)
≥ After entering the computer name of the PC, touch [Enter].
4Touch [INPUT], and enter the name of the shared folder.≥If you have created a shared folder (destination folder) using HD Writer AE 5.1 ( l153 ), touch 
[NEXT].
≥ Enter the name of the shared folder you have created on your PC, and touch [Enter].
(A maximum of 15 characters can be entered.)
≥ If a screen asking you to enter a user account and password is displayed after you have entered 
the name of the shared folder, enter the one you have created on your PC.
≥ When the connection to the PC is complete, copying starts.
≥ When copying is complete, this unit turns off automatically.

≥Copying can be performed even when the battery is used for power, but we recommend that the 
AC adaptor be used.
≥ Once scenes or still pictures are copied to a PC, the original scenes or still pictures cannot be 
copied to any PCs. 
≥ If the total length of the scenes recorded on the same date on the SD card exceeds 
approximately 8 hours, the scenes will not be copied.
≥ If the copy source contains scenes or still pictures recorded on other devices, copying may be 
canceled.
≥ Depending on your environment, copying may take time or may not be available.
≥ If the scene to be copied is long or copying fails, we recommend that the following be performed 
for copying.
jConnecting this unit to the PC by USB cable ( l188 , 192)
j Inserting the SD card to the built-in SD card slot of the PC or your SD card reader/writer directly
If you intend to delete the original scenes or still pictures when the copying has finished, 
always play back the duplicate scenes or still pictures on PC before deletion to confirm that 
they have been copied normally.

You can broadcast motion pictures of this unit live by setting up a link between the “LUMIX CLUB” 
and USTREAM.
AYou can also broadcast motion pictures live by connecting this unit and a smartphone that 
supports tethering.
Wi-Fi
[Live Cast]
≥If [CLOCK SET] (l22) is not set correctly, [Live Cast] cannot be used.≥ Check your contract details carefully, as smartphone and internet contract details may 
result in high communication charges being incurred, or a limit placed on 
communication traffic.
Caution:
Be sure to pay special attention to the privacy, the Portrait rights, etc. of the subject when you use 
this function. Use at your own risk.

Preparations before using [Live Cast]

Check if your smartphone is compatible with the tethering function.≥For information on how to set up the tethering function, refer to the operating instructions for 
your smartphone.
2 Acquire a USTREAM ID/Password/App.≥Acquire a USTREAM ID/Password/App using a smartphone or a PC.
≥ Operation cannot be guaranteed on future USTREAM services and updates. The service content 
and screens which can be used are subject to change without prior notice. (This service is current 
as of January 2014)
3 Acquire a “LUMIX CLUB” Login ID/Password.≥When you connect this unit to a wireless access point ( l165), you can acquire a “LUMIX CLUB” 
Login ID/Password with this unit. ( l177 )
4 Use linked services with “LUMIX CLUB”
≥Log in to the “LUMIX CLUB” and register/set up the USTREAM on WEB service link setup.
5 Set up a Wi-Fi connection between this unit and the wireless access point.≥[WPS Connection] ( l165 )

When the Wi-Fi connection is complete, proceed to “Broadcasting live”.

Broadcasting live
Press Wi-Fi button and touch [Live Cast]. ≥If a “LUMIX CLUB” Login ID and Password has not been registered to this unit yet, enter them 
according to the screen.
≥ If you touch [Change AP], you can switch the wireless access point to another one that has been 
registered to this unit.
≥ When the connection is made correctly, the screen of this unit switches to the Live Cast Mode.
∫ To send e-mails
You can send e-mails containing such information as the USTREAM channel name or the 
scheduled broadcast date.
≥This unit can only set the scheduled broadcast date. ( l160 ) For other settings, set them on the 
“LUMIX CLUB”.
≥ On the “LUMIX CLUB”, register the destination addresses of the e-mail in advance.
Touch .≥ / /  will disappear when no touch function is 
performed for a specific period of time. To display them again, 
touch the screen.
∫ To start the live broadcast
Touch .≥If you press the start recording button, you can simultaneously 
record the broadcast to this unit.
≥ / /  will disappear when no touch function is 
performed for a specific period of time. To display them again, 
touch the screen.
∫ To stop the live broadcast
Touch .
≥When   (gray) is displayed, unsent data is present. Wait until the unsent data is sent and   is 
displayed.
To exit the Live Cast Mode:Touch [EXIT] or press Wi-Fi button.
≥A message is displayed. Touch [YES] to exit.


About the screen indications in the Live Cast Mode
≥Recording is performed in Intelligent Auto Mode.
≥ In Live Cast Mode, [REC FORMAT] is set to [AVCHD], and [REC MODE] ( l161 ) is set to [PH]/
[HA]/[HG]/[HE].
≥ If this unit is on the e-mail sender block list of de stination devices or if their firewall setting is 
enabled, the Wi-Fi function may not work correctly  when you send an e-mail. If this occurs, check 
the network settings.
≥ When the live broadcast cannot be watched on a USTREAM application for TVs or smartphones, 
cancel the Password for the Program, and restart the broadcast.
≥ If you record an image when the LCD monitor of this unit is closed with the screen facing outward, 
the LCD monitor turns off.
≥ Image content may be leaked to third parties depending on the USTREAM image publication 
method settings. Set the publication range and Password using USTREAM if required.

To configure the e-mail delivery settings
You can make the delivery setting of a broadcast notification e-mail and the setting for the 
scheduled time and date of the broadcast indicated in the e-mail.
1 Touch [E-MAIL SETUP].

≥Frame rate in parentheses are when recorded in simultaneously.
≥ Depending on the line status of the broadband line, mobile router (tethering), etc. to which this 
unit is connected, the image and sound may be interrupted or the connection may be lost. Set the 
image quality on this unit by referring to the recommended optimal speeds (upstream) above.
≥ For information on the optimal speed, contact your service provider, etc.
≥ If the image being broadcast appears as if frames were dropped or stops when [AUTO] is set, 
change [IMAGE QUALITY] according to your environment.
≥ If the selected image quality has an image quality higher than the one you are using, images will 
appear as if the frame rate is low.
≥ Operation cannot be guaranteed for all devices.
≥ Even with a broadband line, the recommended optimal speed may not be reached depending on 
your environment.
≥ Narrowband lines such as analog modems cannot be used.
≥ If the line for the smartphone is switched, communication may be interrupted. In that case, 
connect again.
