43 RQT6035 Advanced operations Timer recording Using VCR Plus codes to make timer recording Remote control only Entering VCR Plus codes is an easy way of programming the timer for recording. You can find these codes in television sections of newspapers and in television guides. You can enter up to 16 programs up to a month in advance. Each daily or weekly pro- gram is counted as one program. Preparation Switch [DVD, TV] to “DVD”. Ensure that this unit’s clock and guide channels (➡ page 19) are set correctly. Insert a disc for recording (make sure there is enough room for the program you are going to record plus a little extra). 1Press [VCR Plus]. 2Press the numbered buttons to enter the VCR Plus code. If you enter the wrong digit, use the joystick [] to move back and enter the correct digit. The actual time recorded may be longer than the program itself when television programs are recorded using VCR Plus. “Invalid Entry” is displayed when you enter the wrong code. Reent- er the code. “All timer programs are occupied.” is displayed if there are already 16 items programmed. Clear unnecessary items (➡ page 47). The remaining time displayed is calculated based on the current recording mode. Approximately 30 seconds at the beginning of subsequent pro- grams is not recorded when you use timer recording to record mul- tiple programs to a DVD-R. Recording is not possible unless you set “Disc Protection” in “DISC SETTING” to “Off” (➡ page 53). You can not record to a disc if the disc is protected with the write- protect tab. Release this before operation (➡ page 99). This program is currently recording. The disc was full or the maximum number of programs or scenes was reached so the program failed to record. The material was copy-guarded so the material failed to record. The program failed to record for some other reason. To change the program➡ page 47 To exit the timer recording listPress [PROG/CHECK] or [RETURN]. (The television is shown.) For your reference Programs that failed to record are displayed gray. These programs are deleted from the list at 4 a.m. the day after tomorrow. Releasing the unit from timer standby To release the unit from recording standby If you want to record something else before the program start time, for example: Press [, POWER].The unit turns on and “” goes out. Be sure to press [, POWER] before the program start time to put the unit on timer recording standby. The program only works if “” is on. To put the unit on timer recording standby Press [, POWER].The unit turns off and “” lights on the unit’s display. Note “” flashes when the unit couldn’t go to timer recording standby (e.g., a disc isn’t loaded, a disc that can’t be recorded to is loaded, or the disc is protected). Check the disc carefully. To stop recording while a program is working Press [, POWER], then [ , STOP] within 5 seconds. Recording stops. Recording standby is also canceled if there are other timer recording programs, so be sure to press [, POWER] to put the unit on timer recording standby. Select the recording mode, XP, SP, LP, or EP (➡ page 26). 1While stopped Press [INPUT SELECT] to select the input channel for the equipment you have connected. Select L1, L2, or L3. 2Start play on the other equipment. 3Press [, REC] at the point you want to start recording. To skip unwanted partsPress [, PAUSE] to pause recording. Press again to restart recording. To stop recording Press [ , STOP]. Stop play on the other equipment as well. For your reference You can also select the input channel by pressing [, , , CH] in step 1. This unit complies with industry standards regarding the recording and duplication of copy-protected material. This includes commer- cial videotapes and DVDs. Apart from infringing copyright laws, copies of protected material are often of very poor quality. When you have selected “L1”
