    RecordingAbout the LCD Monitor
    Touch [ ] to change.
    •During Playback Zoom, while playing back motion pictures and during 
    a slide show, you can only select “Normal display  E” or “No display 
    G”.

    ¢ 1 If the [Histogram] in [Setup] menu is set to [On], histogram will be displayed.
    ¢ 2 When operation ceases for a certain amount of time, only the icons shown below are

    Applicable modes: 
    Taking pictures using the touch operation 
    (Touch Shutter function)
    Just by touching the subject to focus, it will focus on the subject and take the picture 
    automatically.
    To u c h  [ ] .
    •Icon will change to [ ], and taking a picture with 
    the Touch Shutter function becomes possible.: Touch Shutter enabled
    : Touch Shutter disabled
    Touch the subject you wish to 
    focus on, and then take a picture.
    •AF area is displayed at the position you touch, and a picture is taken. (It cannot be set to 
    edge of the screen)
    Touch [ ] to cancel the Touch Shutter function.
    Note
    •Touch operation is not possible at the top right of the LCD monitor even if image is displayed.•Touch Shutter setting is memorized even if the camera is turned off.•You cannot record motion pictures with the Touch Shutter.

    Applicable modes: 
    Match the focusing and exposure to a desired 
    subject using touch operations
     (Touch AF/AE)
    It is possible to set the focus and exposure to the subject specified on the touch panel.
    •Perform the operation after canceling the touch shutter function.
    Touch the subject you wish to focus on.
    •The AF area can be set freely at a position on the screen. (Cannot be set at the edge of 
    the screen)
    •Action will vary depending on the setting of [AF Mode]  (P94).•Touch AF/AE will be fixed to AF Tracking during Intelligent Auto Mode and the most 
    appropriate scene will be determi ned for the touched subject.
    •Touch [ ] to go back to the original Focus Mode.
    Press the shutter button halfway to focus and then press it fully to 
    take the picture.

    •In [š ] ([Face Detection]), the AF 
    area turns yellow when touched.

    •When it is set to [ Ù] ([Spot]), AF 
    area [ Ù] ([Spot]) is displayed.
    Example:
    When AF area is set to

    •The AF area turns yellow and the subject is locked. The 
    camera will continuously adjust the focus and exposure 
    automatically, following the movement of the subject.

    ∫Setting up [ ] (AF Tracking)
    •
    The AF tracking frame will turn red and then turn off if the lock fails. Try to lock the frame again.•The camera records pictures with [AF Mode] as [ ] when locked or Dynamic Tracking is not 
    working.
    •AF Tracking is canceled when the Touch Shutter is set to [ ].•It cannot be set to [ ] in the following conditions.–When recording in 3D–In [Panorama Assist], [Pin Hole], [Film Grain], or [High Dynamic] in Scene Mode.–In [B/W], [Sepia], [Cool], or [Warm] in [Color Mode].•The lock may fail in cases with th e following recording conditions.–When the subject is too small–When the recording location is too dark or bright–When the subject is moving too fast–When another subject or background is similar in color to the subject–When jitter is occurring–When using the zoom

    Taking Pictures with the Zoom
    You can zoom-in to make people and objects appear closer or zoom-out to record 
    landscapes in wide angle. To make subjects appear even closer (maximum of 7.8 k), do 
    not set the picture size to the highest setting for each aspect ratio ( X/Y /W /).
    Using the Optical Zoom/Using the Extended Optical zoom (EZ)/Using 
    the Intelligent Zoom/Using the Digital Zoom
    To make subjects appear closer use (Tele)
    Rotate the zoom lever towards Tele.
    To make subjects appear further away use (Wide)
    Rotate the zoom lever towards Wide.

    •The indicated zoom magnification is an approximation.•“EZ” is an abbreviation of “Extended Optical Zoom”. It is possible to take more magnified 
    pictures with the optical zoom.
    •When using the Digital Zoom, we recommend using a tripod and the self-timer  (P88) for taking 
    pictures.

    Applicable modes: 
    Recording Images with Differing Angles of View 
    (Wide & Zoom Dual-Shooting)
    Using the two lenses, you can simultaneously record two pictures with differing angles of 
    view, or simultaneously record a motion picture and a picture with differing angles of view.
    •
    The following functions are activated automatically.–[Auto] in [Sensitivity]/Auto White Balance/[Quick AF]/[i.Zoom]/[AF Assist Lamp]/[Stabilizer]/
    [Continuous AF]/[Wind Cut]
    Set the 3D/2D switch to [2D].
    In Recording Mode, touch [ ].
    To u c h  [ ] .
    Touch either the left or the right image.
    •The touched image is displayed enlarged and in a 
    selected state.
    Adjust the angle of view using the zoom 
    lever.
    •Adjust the left and right images by repeating steps 4 
    and 5.•After turning off the power or changing the Recording 
    Mode, the left image will revert to the Wide angle of 
    view, and the right image to the Tele angle of view.
    Press the shutter button halfway to focus and then press it fully to 
    take the picture.
    •The focus indication (green) lights when the subject is focused.•When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the ISO sensitivity, the shutter speed and 
    the aperture value for the selected image are displayed.

    The [Quality]  is fixed to [A].•The [AF Mode]  is fixed to [Ø].•When [Auto Review] is set, the Auto Review will start from the left image and proceed to the 
    right image.
    Press the motion picture button as described in step 6 to 
    start recording the left image as a motion picture.
    Press the shutter button during the motion picture 
    recording to record the right image as a picture.  (P41)

    Press the motion picture button again to end the motion 
    picture recording.
    •[Rec Mode] and [Rec Quality] will be reflected by setting of

    Applicable modes: 
    Taking Pictures that Match the Scene Being 
    Recorded
     (Scene Mode)
    When you select a Scene Mode to match the subject and recording situation, the camera 
    sets the optimal exposure and hue to obtain the desired picture.
    Set the 3D/2D switch to [2D].
    In Recording Mode, touch [ ].
    To u c h  [ ] .
    Touch the scene mode to set.
    •The page can be changed by touching [ ]/[ ].•Touching and holding the scene mode icon will display a 
    description.
    –It will be set when you release your finger.–It will not be set when you move your finger to the position 
    where there is no icon, and then release your finger.
    Note
    •Scene Modes can be changed by touching [ ] from the menu screen.•The following items cannot be set in Scene Mode because the camera automatically adjusts 
    them to the optimal setting.
    –[Sensitivity]/[Macro Mode]/[i.Exposure]/[Min. Shtr Speed]/[i.Resolution]/[Color Mode]
    When taking pictures of people outdoors during t he day, this mode allows you to improve 
    the appearance of the persons concerned and make their skin tones look healthier.
    ∫ Technique for Portrait Mode
    To make this mode more effective:
    1 Rotate the zoom lever as far as possible to Tele.
    2 Move close to the subject to make this mode more effective.
