    Still/motion pictures can be copied from the camera to your computer by connecting the 
    two together.
     • Some computers can read directly from the camera’
    s memory card.  
    For details, see the manual for your computer.
     • If your computer does not support SDXC Memory Cards a message will be displayed  requesting you to format the card. (Do not format the card. 
    
    This will erase recorded 
    pictures.) If the card is not recognized, refer to the following support website.

    You can connect the camera to a computer that can detect a mass storage device 
    (device that stores a large volume of data).

     • When using Mac, you can copy motion pictures recorded in [A
    
    VCHD] using 
    “iMovie
      ’11”. Note, however, that you cannot copy motion pictures (AVCHD

    Connect camera to computer
     • Do not use cables other than the supplied USB connection cable or a genuine Panasonic USB connection cable (optional). Using cables other than the above 
    may cause a malfunction.
    Use cursor button on the camera to select [PC], and press 
    [MENU/SET]
     • A message may be displayed on screen if [USB Mode]  (→39) is set to 
    [PictBridge(PTP)]. Select [CANCEL] to close the screen, and set [USB Mode] to 
    [PC].
    Operate with your computer
    You can save pictures to use on your computer by dragging and dropping folders 
    and files into separate folders on your computer.
     ■To cancel connection
     • Windows: Execute “Safely Remove Hardware” on the taskbar • Mac: Open the Finder and click the eject icon that appears on the sidebar
    Check the plug direction and insert it straight in.  
    (If the cable is inserted in the wrong direction, the plug could 
    become deformed and cause faulty operation)

     ■When using Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Mac OS X
    The camera can be connected to your computer even if [USB Mode]  (→39) is set to 
    [PictBridge(PTP)].
     • Only picture output can be performed. • It may not be possible to import if there are 1000 or more pictures on the card. • Motion pictures, 3D still pictures or RA
    
    W pictures cannot be read.
     ●Do not use any other USB connection cables except the supplied one or a genuine 
    Panasonic USB connection cable (optional).
     ●Turn off power before inserting or removing memory cards. ●Use a sufficiently charged battery or an AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler 
    (optional). When the battery begins to run out during communication, the status 
    indicator flashes and a warning beep sounds. Cancel communication via your 
    computer immediately.
     ●Setting the [USB Mode] to [PC] removes the need to make the setting each time the 
    camera is connected to the computer.

    Uploading pictures to image-sharing websites
    Using the uploading tool ([LUMIX Image Uploader]), you can upload still pictures and 
    motion pictures to image-sharing websites (Facebook or YouTube).
    There is no need to copy pictures to your computer or install specialized software. 
    Uploading pictures from the camera is easy with a computer connected to a network, 
    even when you are away from your regular computing environment.
     • This tool supports only computers that run on Windows XP
    
    , Windows Vista, and 
    Windows 7.

    such as a title, the time and date when the images were taken, and the location 
    where the image was taken if the camera includes a GPS function. Check this

    You can connect directly to a PictBridge-compatible printer for printing.
    Connect camera to printer 
     • Do not use cables other than the supplied USB connection cable or a genuine Panasonic USB connection cable (optional). Using cables other than the above 
    may cause a malfunction.

    and press [MENU/SET]

    Printing with date and text
     ■Printing date without [Text Stamp]
     ●Printing in store: Only recording date can be printed. Request date printing in store. • Making [Print Set]  (→179) settings on the camera in advance allows settings for 
    numbers of copies and date printing to be designated before giving the card to 
    the store.
     • When printing still pictures with a 16:9 aspect ratio, check in advance that the  store can accept this size.
     ●Using computer:   P rint settings for recording date and text information can be made 
    using “PHOTOfunSTUDIO” software on the supplied CD - ROM.
     ●Using printer:          Recording date can be printed by setting [Print Set] on the 
    camera, or by setting [Print with Date] (→198) to [ON] when 
    connecting to a printer compatible with date printing.

    Making print settings on the camera
    Setting options include the number of printed pictures and their size. Make settings before 
    selecting [Print start].
    Use cursor button to select the item and press [MENU/SET]
    Item Settings
    [Print with Date] [ON] / [OFF]
    [Num.of prints] Set number of pictures (up to 999 pictures)
    [Paper Size] When 
     is selected, the printer settings take priority.
    [Page Layout]
     (printer takes priority) /  (1 picture, no border) /  (1 picture, with border) /  (2 pictures) /  (4 pictures)
    Use cursor button to select setting and press [MENU/SET]
     ●Items may not be displayed if incompatible with printer. ●To arrange  “2 pictures” or  “4 pictures” in the same still picture, set the number 
    of prints for the still picture to 2 or 4.
     ●To print to paper sizes/layouts not supported by this camera, set to  and make 
    settings on the printer. (Consult your printer’s operating manual.)
     ●Even with completed [Print Set] settings, dates may not be printed, depending on the 
    shop or printer used.
     ●When setting [Print with Date] to [ON], check the date printing settings on the printer 
    (printer settings may be prioritized).
     ●To print a picture on which text or a date has been stamped, set [Print with Date] to 
    [OFF]. (The still picture is printed with the date superimposed on it.)

    Using the Live View Finder (optional)
    When the Live View Finder (DMW-LVF2: optional) is used, you can view the recording 
    screen even when taking pictures at a low camera angle, for example.
    Preparation:

    Firmly insert the Live View Finder into the hot shoe, as far as 
    it will go
    Turn the camera ON/OFF switch to [ON]
    Press the [LVF/LCD] button of the Live View Finder to switch 
    the display
     • You can switch between the LCD (LCD monitor) display and LVF (Live View Finder) display.
     • The display selected by pressing the [L
    
    VF/LCD] button will be stored in memory 
    even when the camera ON/OFF switch is set to [OFF]. 
     ■To automatically display the playback screen on the LCD monitor 
    When [Play on LCD] (→37) of the [Setup] menu is set to [ON], the LCD monitor will turn 
    on when the camera is switched from recording mode to playback mode.  This operation 
    eliminates the time needed to switch between LCD monitor and Live V iew Finder when 
    recording pictures using Live View Finder.
     ●Attach and detach the Live View Finder carefully and correctly. ●The Live View Finder cannot be used together with an external flash. ●When the shoulder strap is attached, make sure that the strap does not get snagged 
    on the Live View Finder. 
     ●Be sure to hold both the camera and the Live View Finder when the Live View Finder 
    is attached to the camera. If you hold only the Live View Finder, it could become 
    detached from the camera.
     ●Refer to the operating instructions for the Live View Finder for further details.

    Using the External Viewfinder (optional)
    When the External Viewfinder (DMW-VF1: optional) is attached, you can use it to view 
    the recording screen when taking wide-angle pictures.
    Preparation:

    Firmly insert the External Viewfinder into the hot shoe, 
    as far as it will go
    Turn the camera ON/OFF switch to [ON]
     ■If the LCD monitor is too bright when you look through the viewfinder 
    eyepiece 
    You can turn off the LCD monitor during recording by setting [Opt. Viewfinder]  (→146) of 
    [Rec] menu to [ON].
     • The status indicator lights up. • Press [DISP
    
    .] button to switch the display. 
     ●The field-of-view frame of the External Viewfinder indicates the area that can be used 
    for a 24 mm lens (35 mm film camera equivalent, aspect ratio 3:2, Wide).
     ●The frame lines are a reference for the recording range. Check the LCD monitor for a 
    more accurate view.
     ●If the lens surface gets dirty, wipe it with a dry soft cloth. ●Attach and detach the External Viewfinder carefully and correctly. ●The External Viewfinder cannot be used together with an external flash. ●When the shoulder strap is attached, make sure that the strap does not get snagged 
    on the External Viewfinder.
     ●Be sure to hold both the camera and the External Viewfinder when the External 
    Viewfinder is attached to the camera. If you hold only the External Viewfinder, it could 
    become detached from the camera.
