    Using the [Motion Picture] menu

    [Continuous AF]
    Either allow the focus to be constantly adjusted during motion picture 
    recording, or fix the focus position at the start of recording.
     ■Settings
    [ON]
    [OFF]: Fix focus position at the start of motion picture recording.
    [Wind Cut]
    Automatically detects wind sounds (wind noise) captured by the microphone 
    and suppresses the sound if the wind is blowing too strongly.
     ■Settings: [AUTO] / [OFF]
     ●When [Wind Cut] is set to [AUTO], the sound quality may differ from that of normal

    When a card is in the camera, pictures are played back from the card. Without a card, 
    pictures are played back from the built-in memory.

     ●If [Start Mode] in the [Setup] menu is set to [  ], the camera is activated in playback 
    mode when the camera is turned on. 
    You can also activate the camera in playback 
    mode if the camera is turned on while pressing the playback button, even when the 
    menu is set to [
     
     ]. ●It may not be possible to view pictures on this camera that were previously edited on 
    a computer.
     ●When the camera is switched to playback mode, the lens barrel will be retracted into 
    the camera housing after approx. 15 seconds.
     ●This camera is compliant with the unified DCF (Design rule for Camera File system) 
    standard formulated by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries 
    Association (JEITA), and with Exif (Exchangeable image file format). Files that are not 
    DCF-compliant cannot be played back.
    Press the playback button
    The camera switches to the playback

    Each time you turn the zoom lever toward the 
    T side, the camera magnifies the selected 
    area by 2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x in succession. 
    (The picture quality displayed becomes 
    successively lower.)
     • Move zoom position → Press     • To reduce zoom   → Turn lever towards W side
     ●Playback zoom cannot be used during motion picture playback.
     ■Switching the displayed picture without changing the zoom ratio and 
    position of Playback zoom
    Rotate the rear dial during Playback zoom. • When you display pictures with dif ferent picture sizes and aspect ratios or pictures 
    that are rotated when they are displayed, the zoom position returns to the center .
     ■Enlarging the focus point
    Press the [ND/FOCUS] lever. • Pictures recorded without adjusting focus or recorded with Manual Focus are not

     • Move the zoom lever further toward the W side and you can switch the display methods 
    in the following order: 12-picture screen → 30-picture screen → Calendar playback.

     • When you select a picture using the cursor button and press [MENU/SET] on the 12-picture or 30-picture screen, the selected picture is displayed on the 1-picture 
    screen (full-screen).

    Viewing pictures by their recording date “Calendar Playback”

    W side to display the calendar 
    screen while displaying a 
    30-picture screen
    Selected date
     • When you select a recording date using the cursor button and press [MENU/SET], the display method changes to the 12-picture screen.
     ●Only months when pictures were taken are shown on the calendar screen. If the clock 
    was not set, pictures will be displayed as January 1st, 2012. If the date / time was set 
    incorrectly, pictures will be displayed with the incorrect settings.
     ●Pictures taken with destination settings made in [World Time] are displayed in the 
    calendar screen using the appropriate date for the destination’s time zone.

    Playing back pictures recorded in burst and interval recording
    Still pictures taken in a sequence using the [  
     ] or [  ] burst setting or pictures taken 
    using interval recording are grouped together when they are displayed. (Group display)
     ■Representative picture display
    Number of burst pictures
    When these pictures are displayed together with other still 
    pictures or motion pictures, a representative picture (the 
    first picture recorded using burst or interval recording) is 
    displayed.

    ou can delete or edit all the still pictures in a group at 
    once.

    When you press  while a representative picture is being 
    displayed, only a series of still pictures recorded using burst 
    or interval recording will be displayed.

     ■About retrieving group information
    When the power is turned on, the  (acquiring information icon) may appear.
    While  is displayed, pictures cannot be deleted and the [Playback] menu cannot 
    be used. Only [Normal Play] or [Calendar] is available as the [Playback Mode].

     ●When pictures set to [Favorite] are played back using [Slide Show] or [Filtering Play], 
    the pictures cannot be displayed in a group.
     ●The following operation cannot be performed while a representative first burst picture 
    is being displayed.
     • [Auto Retouch] • [Creative Retouch] • [Cropping] of [Playback] menu • [Leveling] of [Playback] menu ●Still pictures taken subsequently using burst or interval recording are not combined 
    together to form a group after the total number of still pictures exceeds 50,000. Also, if 
    there is only one picture left in a group because the other pictures were deleted or for 
    some other reason, no group is formed.
     ●Pictures recorded using other cameras may not be recognized as a group picture. ●Pictures recorded without setting the clock are not combined together to form a group.

    About panorama playback
    Still pictures recorded with [Panorama Shot] Scene Mode are displayed in small size on a 
    normal playback screen because the entire picture is displayed on the screen.
     ■Enlarged display
    You can use the Playback zoom function to enlarge a picture.  (→153)
     ■Automatic scrolling display of panorama pictures
    When you press , the camera automatically scrolls a panorama picture from edge to 
    edge in enlarged display mode just like playing back a motion picture.

    Viewing motion pictures

    This unit was designed to play motion pictures using the AVCHD, MP4 and QuickTime 
    Motion JPEG formats.
    Select a picture with the motion picture icon ([  ], [  ] 
    etc.), and press 
    Playback now starts.
    Motion picture recording time
    When playback starts, the elapsed playback time is 
    displayed in the top right of the screen.
    Example: After 3 minutes and 30 seconds: [3m30s]

     ●Motion pictures recorded with [Miniature Effect] in [Creative Control] Mode play back

    Capturing still pictures from motion pictures

    Save a scene from a motion picture as a still picture.
    Display the picture that you want to capture as a still picture 
    by pausing a motion picture during playback
    Press [MENU/SET]
     • A confirmation screen is displayed. Use cursor button to select [Yes] to save a still picture.

     ●The picture quality becomes slightly lower depending on the [Rec Quality] setting of
