(When using the flash, the adjustment range becomes [ISO100] to [ISO640].) nAbout (intelligent ISO sensitivity control) The camera detects movements of the subject near the center of the frame and sets the optimum ISO sensitivity and shutter speed according to the movements and brightness. • When shooting a moving subject indoors, you can reduce blur by raising ISO sensitivity and increasing the shutter speed. 1/125 ISO800 • When taking pictures of a motionless subject, you can reduce noise by setting ISO sensitivity at a low level. 1/30 ISO200• When you set ISO sensitivity to [ ], ISO sensitivity is automatically raised up to [ISO800] (up to [ISO640] when the flash is used). • When you press the shutter button halfway, [ ] appears. Menu Settings 87VQT0Y44 • The extended optical zoom does not work in [HIGH SENS.] (P68) in scene mode so the picture size for [EZ] is not displayed. • In motion picture mode [i], the picture size is fixed to VGA (640×480 pixels), QVGA (320×240 pixels) or 16:9 (1280×720 pixels or 848×480 pixels). • Pictures may have a mosaic-like appearance depending on the subject or the recording condition. • Refer to P128 for the number of recordable pictures. • The number of recordable pictures depends on the subject. • The number of remaining pictures may not correspond with recorded frames. • When the quality is set to [RAW], a JPEG picture with the quality equal to the Standard [H] is created at the same time. The JPEG file is also erased if you erase the associated RAW file. • The maximum resolution (P86) for each aspect ratio is fixed if you select [RAW]. • You cannot set quality to [RAW] in high sensitivity mode in scene mode. • The following functions cannot be used for pictures recorded in [RAW]. – Burst mode – Digital zoom –[AUDIO REC.] – Auto bracket • The following functions are not available for pictures taken by setting quality to [RAW]. – [AUDIO DUB.] – [RESIZE] – [TRIMMING] • Picture editing at higher levels becomes possible when you use RAW format files. However, it is not a malfunction. • When using the digital zoom or when you take pictures in dark places, the AF area is displayed on the center of the screen with a size wider than usual. • When multiple AF areas (max. 9 areas) light at the same time, the camera is focusing on all the AF areas. The focus position is not predetermined because it is set to the position the camera automatically determines at the time of focusing. If you want to determine the focus position to take pictures, switch the AF mode to 1-area-focusing, 1-area-focusing (high speed) or Spot-focusing mode. • Switch the AF mode to 1-area-focusing mode (High speed) or 1-area-focusing mode if it is difficult to focus using Spot-focusing mode. • You cannot change the AF mode setting when using [SELF PORTRAIT] and [FIREWORKS] in scene mode (P62). • This is fixed to 1-area-focusing in Auto mode [0].nAbout AF area selection When the AF mode (P88) is one-area focusing or one-area focusing (high speed), you can select the AF area as follows. When the AF mode is set to 1-area- focusing, 1-area-focusing (high speed) or spot-focusing, the time required for focusing when pressing the shutter button halfway will be reduced. • When it is set to [ON], the [ ] indication appears. • The battery may be consumed faster than usual. • It may take time to focus on the subject after rotating the zoom lever from Wide to Tele or suddenly changing the subject from a distant one to a nearby one. • Press the shutter button halfway again when it is difficult to focus on the subject. • The [CONT.AF] setting is fixed to [OFF] in Auto mode [0], [NIGHT PORTRAIT] (P64), [NIGHT SCENERY] (P64), [FIREWORKS] (P66) and [STARRY SKY] (P67) in scene mode, and when manual focus is set. • If the focus switch is set to [AFw], the time to focus will not be shorter.
