91 Using the Printer Device Settings Tab #Printer memory Selects the amount of memory installed in the printer. If the amount of memory in the printer does not match this setting, a MEMORY OVERFLOWmessage might be displayed. To determine how much memory is installed in the printer, print out the Test page ( +P. 39). As the printer memory increases, printing throughput improves. If the total amount of memory installed in the printer is more than 32 MB, Printer memory usageoption ( $) becomes effective. # $ %
92 Using the Printer $Printer memory usage Determines how the printer memory is used, either for better print performance or for better print quality. This selection is effective only when the Gray Scaleor the Color Photoprint style is selected and the Standard (600 dpi)is selected. More than 32 MB is required on the printer to select this option. BUse printer memory to make print performance better Sends the data to the printer with the standard level of compression to improve throughput. BUse printer memory to make print quality better Sends the data to the printer with a lower level of compression or without compression to improve the print quality. However, the throughput will be diminished. %Form To Tray Assignment Server can assign and display the media loaded in the printer. Client can view the media assignment. 94 To adjust the brightness, contrast, hue or saturation of color, select Color Adjustmentin the Hyper-Tetra Adjustment window. #Brightness Changes the brightness of an image. A higher brightness setting provides a lighter image, and a lower brightness setting provides a darker image. $Contrast Adjusts the range between the darkest and the lightest shades in the image. %Hue Changes the aspect of color. &Saturation Changes the brightness and vividness of color. Lower saturation settings provide dull and dark image, and higher saturation settings provide bright and vivid image. The setting range of each option ( #to &) is from 0 to 255. 96 To adjust the level of red, green or blue, select Color Balancein the Hyper-Tetra Adjustment window. The following options appear. #Red Lightens or darkens red. Decreasing red increases cyan tones. $Green Lightens or darkens green. Decreasing green increases magenta tones. %Blue Lightens or darkens blue. Decreasing blue increases yellow tones. 97 Single sided documents can be printed on both sides of the paper using an application software, such as Microsoft Word for Windows 95. The instructions described here are only for Microsoft Word for Windows 95. Open document in Word for Windows 95. From the Filemenu, click Print.... The Printwindow is displayed. Make sure that Panasonic KX-P8410is selected in the Printer box, then click Properties. The Panasonic KX-P8410window is displayed. Select Face upin the Output orderbox, then click OK. The Panasonic KX-P8410 window is closed. Select Odd pagesfrom the Print menu box, then click OK. The Printwindow is closed and odd pages will be printed face up. 98Place the printed pages in the multi-purpose tray with the pages face down and top first. From the Filemenu, clickPrint.... The Print window is displayed. Click Properties . The Panasonic KX-P8410 window is displayed. Select MPT Paper 2nd Sidefrom the Paper sourcepop-up menu, then click OK. The Panasonic KX-P8410 window is closed. 99 Periodic cleaning of the printer is recommended. The frequency of cleaning is dependent upon the environment in which the printer is used. You should clean the printer: BAt least once a month. BWhen the printer experiences frequent media jams. BWhen print quality has deteriorated. nExternal Turn the power OFF. Clean all the covers with a soft cloth. Use any mild commercial cleaner. Caution: BDo not use benzine, thinner, aerosol cleaners, or any abrasive powder. nInternal When using isopropyl alcohol with a lint-free cloth, make sure that the alcohol is at least 90% pure, obtainable from your local pharmacy. (Do not use rubbing alcohol; it can damage the printer.) Cleaning the paper-pick rollers Slide the media tray out (you do not have to remove it) to allow access to the paper-pick rollers. 100 Care and Maintenance Gently rotate the paper-pick rollers 180° (the paper-pick rollers are D-shaped) and wipe them with a lint-free cloth that has been moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Reinsert the paper feeder (#) and close the left side door ($). Slide the media tray back into place. Note: BIf you have a 2nd Cassette Feeder, you may also need to clean the rollers for the middle and lower media trays, which are accessed through the lower left side door. Cleaning the home sensor If your printer panel displays Printer Error 30, clean the home sensor inside the printer. Open the printer’s front door. 5 6 4 1 #$
