      MAKE A CALL WHILE ONLINE
When you are browsing a WAP site and want to make a call, select Options >
Other options > Use detail > Phone number. Your phone then searches the
information on the WAP site for a string of numbers. You can then choose from the
number or numbers displayed to place the call.
An alternate way is to press the End key to disconnect from the mobile Internet,
then place your call by searching contacts for a name and number or by keying in
    the phone number.
      MAKE AN EMERGENCY CALL WHILE
    ONLINE
If you are using GPRS to connect to the mobile Internet, you can end your data
connection and then make an emergency call.
1To close your mobile Internet connection, press the End key.2Enter the emergency number for your present location (for example, 911).3Press the Talk key.

      SECURITY
    Cache memory
A cache is a memory location that is used to store data temporarily. If you have
tried to access or have accessed confidential information requiring passwords,
empty the cache after each use. The information or services you have accessed are
    stored in the cache.
To clear the cache from the menu, select Services > Clear the cache.
To clear the cache while browsing, select Options > Other options > Clear the
    cache.
    Certificates
To use some WAP services, such as banking services, you need an authority
certificate. Using the certificate can help you to improve the security of
connections between your phone and a WAP server.
You can download the certificate from a WAP page if the WAP service supports the
use of authority certificates. After the download, you can view the certificate, then
save or delete it. If you save the certificate, it is added to the list of certificates in
    the phone.
Your phone alerts you if the identity of the WAP server or WAP gateway cannot be
    verified or is not authentic.
To view the list of authority certificates, from the menus, select Services >
Settings > Security settings > Authority certificates > Certificate list.
    Security module
The security module improves security services and allows you to use a digital
signature. It can contain certificates and public and private keys. Your service
provider saves the certificates in the security module.

    							Nokia 3200 User Guide 101Copyright © Nokia 2003 Services (Menu 9)
From the menus, select Services > Settings > Security settings > Security
module settings and one of the following:
Security module details—View the security module title, status, manufacturer, and
    serial number.
Module PIN request—Select On to set the phone to ask for the module PIN when
using services provided by the security module.
Change module PIN—Change the module PIN, if allowed by the security module.
      ALLOW OR REJECT COOKIES
A cookie is data that a web site saves in your phone browser cache memory. The
data can be, for example, your user information or your browsing preferences.
Cookies will be saved until you clear the cache memory.
    1From the menus, select Services > Settings > Security settings > Cookies.OR
While browsing, select Options > Other options > Security settings > Cookies.
2Select Allow to accept cookies or Decline to reject cookies.
      CREATE A DIGITAL SIGNATURE
You can make digital signatures with your phone. The signature can be traced back
to you through the private key on the security module and the user certificate that
was used to perform the signature. Using the digital signature can be the same as
signing your name to a paper bill, contract or other document.
1While browsing, select a link on a page, such as the title of the book you want
    to buy and its price.
The text to sign (possibly including amount, date, etc.) will be shown.
2Check that the header text is Read and that the digital signature icon is shown.
If the digital signature icon does not appear, there is a security breach, and you
should not enter any personal data such as your signing PIN.
3Read all of the text before signing, scrolling through the text if necessary.4To sign the text, select Sign. 5Select the user certificate you want to use, enter the signing PIN (provided
with the SIM card if the SIM card has a security module), and select OK.
The digital signature icon disappears, and the service may display a
    confirmation of your purchase.

    18 Instant messaging
You can now take text messaging to the next level by experiencing instant
messaging in a wireless environment. You can engage in instant messaging with
friends and family, regardless of the mobile system or platform (like the Internet)
they are using. It is different from using SMS or e-mail addresses to send messages
because you can have a true, two-way conversation. The contact list feature shows
you when your friends, family members, and colleagues are online and available to
exchange instant messages. Simply select the name, write the message, and send
it. Your message stays on the screen and when the recipient replies, the reply
appears on the screen, above your original message, so you can track the
    conversation.
Before you can start using instant messaging, you must first subscribe to the text
messaging service. Contact your service provider for details about pricing for
sending and receiving messages. You must also obtain a user name and password
before you can use instant messaging. See
“Obtain user name and password” on page 105 for more information.
Note: If instant messaging is not available from your wireless service provider, the IM screen may not appear. Contact your service provider for
    more information.
      NETWORK SELECTION
With IM, you have the choice of selecting the instant messaging service (network)
you want to use. Since each instant messaging service has its own display text and
icons associated with it, the display text and icons on your phone may appear
differently than what is displayed in this user guide update. If you have any
questions about the differences in the various networks’ display text and icons,
contact your service provider for more information.
The following table shows the instant messaging icons and their descriptions. The
icons and display text may appear differently, depending on which instant
    messaging service you use.

password. You can do this by registering over the Internet (using your computer)
with the IM service provider you have selected to use. During the registration
process you will have the opportunity to create the user name and password of
your choice. For more information about signing up for instant messaging services,
    contact your wireless service provider.
      LOG INTO SERVICE
The first time you use instant messaging, you will need to enter your user name and
password and select the network you want to use, in order to log into the service.
After the first login, you will not have to select the network again, unless you want
    to change it. See
“Instant messaging settings” on page 111 for more information.
Every time you log in, you will receive screen prompts for your user name and
password. You do not have to manually enter your user name (the user name you
