The camera supports the time zones listed below. Increments of less than one hour are not
supported; when travelling to or from destinations at half- or quarter-hour increments from
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), such as Afghanistan, Central Australia, India, Iran, Nepal, or
Newfoundland, set the camera clock to local time (c16, 97).

Choose whether or not to display information in
the monitor, and set the monitor brightness. The

f Date Imprint
Date and time of recording can be imprinted on
pictures for printing this information from printers
that are not DPOF-compatible (c117).
At settings other than [Off], the icon for the current setting is displayed in the
monitor (c6).
jDate Imprint
• Imprinted dates form a permanent part of image data and cannot be deleted. Dates
imprinted at an image-mode setting of [TV screen(640)] may be difficult to read. Choose...

Date Counter
Pictures taken while this option is in effect are imprinted with the number of
days remaining until, or the number of days elapsed since a specified date.
Use it to track the growth of a child or count down the days until a birthday
or wedding.
Sample date counter time stamps are shown below.

Up to three dates can be stored. To set, choose an 
option, press the multi selector J, and enter a

u AF Assist
If [Auto] is selected, AF-assist illumination will be
used to assist the focus operation when the subject
is poorly lit. To disable this function, choose [Off].
Note that for some modes, AF-assist illumination
turns off automatically (c33-37, c39-42). When
set to [Off], the camera may be unable to focus if
lighting is poor.

Choose whether or not to display the blur warning.
Note that the warning may not always be displayed
(c120). At default setting, blur warning is [On].

Choose the time allowed to elapse before the cam-
era enters standby mode to save power (c15).
The time options are 30 seconds (default setting),
one minute, five minutes, and 30 minutes.

M Format Memory/O Format Card
If no memory card is inserted, this option is labeled
[Format memory] and formats internal memory.
Remove the memory card from the camera to for-
mat the internal memory. If a memory card is
inserted, the option is labeled [Format card] and
formats the memory card.
When a memory card is inserted, two format
options are available:

• Choosing [Reset all] also clears the current file number (c110) from the memory. Num-
bering will continue from the lowest number available. To reset file numbering to “0001,”
delete all pictures (c91) before selecting [Reset all].
• Settings for [Date] (c97), [Date counter] (c102), [Language] (c106), [USB] (c106),
and [Video mode] (c106) will remain unaffected even if [Reset all] is performed.
