Setting Display Language, Date and Time

Inserting Memory Cards
Image, sound, and movie files are stored in the camera’s internal memory (approx. 
44 MB) or on removable memory cards (available separately) (A142).
If a memory card is inserted in the camera, data are automatically stored on the 
memory card and data recorded to the memory card can be played back, 
deleted, or transferred. Remove the memory card to store data in the internal 
memory, or play back, delete, or transfer data from the internal memory.

BFormatting a Memory Card
If the message at the right is displayed when the camera is turned 
on, the memory card must be formatted before use. Note that 
formatting  (A 135)  permanently deletes all data on the 
memory card .  Be sure to make copies of any pictures you wish to 
keep before formatting the memory card.

Step 2 Frame a Picture
1Ready the camera.
•Hold the camera steadily in both hands.
• Keep your fingers, hair, strap and other objects away 
from the lens, flash, AF-assist illuminator, microphone 
and speaker.
• When taking pictures in “tall” orientation, turn the 
camera so that the built-in flash is above the lens.

Rotate the zoom control to activate optical zoom.

•When people's faces (front view) are recognized:
Camera will focus on the face surrounded by a double 
border.
Once focus has been locked the double border will

Viewing Pictures (Playback Mode)
Press the c button.
•The last picture shot will be displayed in full-frame 
playback mode.
