2 ❷ Introduction to the Projector This section introduces you to your new projector and describes the features and controls. Congratulations on Your Purchase of the Projector This projector is one of the v ery best projectors a vailable toda y. The projector enab les y ou to project precise images up to 500 inches across (measured diagonally) from y our PC or Mac computer (desktop or notebook), VCR, Blu-r ay player, or document camera. You can use the projector on a tab letop or car t, y ou can use the projector to project images from behind the screen, and the projector can be permanently mounted on a ceiling*1. The remote control can be used wirelessly. *1 Do not attempt to mount the projector on a ceiling yourself. The projector m ust be installed b y qualified technicians in order to ensure proper oper ation and reduce the r isk of bodily injury. In addition, the ceiling m ust be strong enough to suppor t the projector and the installation m ust be in accordance with any local building codes. Please consult your dealer for more information. General • Single-chip DLP projector with high resolution and high brightness Model nameDMD panelResolutionAspect ratio PX602UL-WH/PX602UL-BK0.67 type1,920 × 1,200 pixels16:10 PX602WL-WH/PX602WL-BK 0.65 type1,280 × 800 pixels16:10 Light source · Brightness • A long-life laser diode is equipped in the light module The product can be oper ated at lo w cost because the laser light source (r ated f or 20,000 hours of use*) can be used for a long time without requiring replacement or maintenance. * It is the nominal hours b y 50% br ightness reduction of the independent laser light source , and it is not guar- anteed. • Brightness can be adjusted within a wide range Unlike with ordinary light sources, the brightness can be adjusted from 20 to 100% in 1% increments. • [CONSTANT BRIGHTNESS] mode Brightness nor mally decreases with use , b ut b y selecting [CONST ANT BRIGHTNESS] mode , sensors inside the projector detect and automatically adjust the output, thereb y maintaining constant br ightness throughout the lif e of the light module. However, if brightness output is set at the maximum, brightness will decrease with use. Installation • Wide range of optional lenses selectable according to the place of installation This projector suppor ts 4 types , ho wever PX602UL-WH and PX602UL-BK suppor t 3 types of optional lenses , providing a selection of lenses adapted to a variety of places of installation and projection methods. In addition, the lenses can be mounted and removed in one touch. Note that no lens is mounted upon shipment from the factory. Please purchase optional lenses separately. • Tilt-free, portrait projection This projector can be set to any angle within a vertical 360° range. It can also rotate the picture 90° into portrait orientation. This projector cannot be installed with right or left slant besides the portrait projection. • Double stackable for high light output projection By stacking 2 projectors, increased brightness on a large screen is possible. 1. 3 • Power lens control for quick and easy adjustment By using buttons on the projector or the remote control, zoom, focus, and position (lens shift) can be adjusted. Videos • Wide range of input/output terminals (HDMI, Displa yPort, BNC, HDBaseT , etc.) and b uilt-in monaural speaker The projector is equipped with a v ariety of input/output ter minals: HDMI, Displa yPort, BNC (5-core), computer (analog), HDBaseT, etc. The projector’s HDMI input/output terminals and DisplayPort input terminal support HDCP. HDBaseT, promoted and adv anced b y the HDBaseT Alliance , is a consumer electronic (CE) and commercial con- nectivity technology. • Slot for optional board This projector has a slot for optional boards (sold separately). • Simultaneous display of 2 images (PIP/PICTURE BY PICTURE) Two images can be projected simultaneously with a single projector. There are tw o types of la youts f or the tw o images: “picture-in-picture” (PIP) in which a sub-picture is displa yed on the main picture , and “picture-b y-picture” (PICTURE BY PICTURE) in which the main and sub pictures are displayed next to each other. • Multi-screen projection using multiple projectors This projector is equipped with m ultiple HDMI input & output ter minals that can connect m ultiple projectors in a daisy chain. A high quality picture is achie ved b y dividing and projecting high resolution videos among the v arious projectors. Furthermore, the boundaries of the screens are smoothed using an edge blending function. • Supports HDMI 3D format This projector can be used to w atch videos in 3D using commercially-a vailable activ e shutter-type 3D e yewear and 3D emitters that support Xpand 3D. Network • Convenient utility software (User Supportware) provided as standard The three utility softw are stored in the enclosed NEC Projector CD-R OM (Vir tual Remote T ool, PC Control Utility Pro 4 (for Windows ) and PC Control Utility Pro 5 (for Mac OS )) can be used. • CRESTRON ROOMVIEW compatible This projector suppor ts CRESTR ON R OOMVIEW,allowing m ultiple de vices connected to the netw ork to be man- aged from a computer or controller. Energy-saving • Energy-saving design with a standby power consumption of 0.5 watts When the on-screen men u’s standb y mode is set to “NORMAL ”, the po wer consumption in the standb y mode is 0.5 watts. • “LIGHT MODE” for low power consumption and “Carbon Meter” display The projector is equipped with an “LIGHT MODE” f or reducing po wer consumption dur ing use . Fur thermore, the power-saving effect when the LIGHT MODE is set is con verted into the amount of reductions of CO2 emissions and this is indicated on the confir mation message displa yed when the po wer is tur ned off and at “Inf ormation” on the on-screen menu (CARBON METER). 1.
