The information included are as follows: [USAGE TIME] LAMP L IFE R EMAINING (%) L AMP H OURS U SED (H) F ILTER H OURS U SED (H) NOTE: The progress indicator shows the percentage of remaining lamp life. The value informs you of the amount of lamp and fil- ter usage respectively. • When the remaining lamp time reaches 0, the Lamp Life Remaining bar indicator changes from 0% to 600 Hours and the countdown starts. If lamp life remaining time reaches 0 hours, the projector will not turn\ on regardless of whether the lamp mode is set to Normal or Eco. • The message to the effect that the lamp should be replaced will be displ\ ayed for one minute when the projector is turned on or off. Using On-Screen Menu Menu Descriptions & Functions [RESET] Returning to Factory Default The Reset feature allows you to change adjustments and settings to the factory preset for sources by the following methods: [C URRENT S IGNAL] Resets the adjustments for the current signal to the factory preset leve\ ls. All the items in [ A DJUST] can be reset. [A LL D ATA] Reset all the adjustments and settings for all the signals to the factory preset except [ E NTRY L IST], [L ANGUAGE], [B ACKGROUND], [FILTER MESSAGE], [MULTI-SCREEN COMP.], [SECURITY SETTINGS], [NETWORK SETTINGS], [ C OMMUNICATION S PEED], [STANDBY MODE], [CONTROL ID], [FAN MODE], [ D ATE , T IME P RESET ], [ L AMP L IFE R EMAINING], [L AMP H OURS U SED] and [F ILTER H OURS U SED]. [A LL D ATA (I NCLUDING E NTRY L IST )] Reset all the adjustments and settings for all the signals to the factory preset except [ L ANGUAGE], [B ACK- GROUND], [FILTER MESSAGE], [MULTI-SCREEN COMP.], [SECURITY SETTINGS], [NETWORK SET- TINGS], [ C OMMUNICATION S PEED], [STANDBY MODE], [CONTROL ID], [FAN MODE], [ D ATE , T IME P RE- SET], [L AMP L IFE R EMAINING], [L AMP H OURS U SED ] and [F ILTER H OURS U SED]. Also deletes all the signals in the [ E NTRY L IST] and returns to the factory preset. NOTE: Locked signals in Entry List cannot be reset. Clearing Lamp h our m eter [C LEAR L A mp hOURS] Resets the lamp clock back to zero. NOTE: Elapsed time of the lamp use will not be affected even when [ R ESET] is done from the menu. NOTE: The projector will turn off and go into standby mode when you continue to use the projector for another 600 hours after the lamp has reached the end of its life. In this condition you cannot clear the lamp hour meter on the menu. If this happens, press the HELP button on the remote control for 10 seconds to reset the lamp clock back to zero. Do this only after replacing the lamp. Resetting the Filter Usage h ours [C LEAR F ILTER hOURS] Resets the filter usage back to zero. NOTE: Elapsed time of the filter use will not be affected even when [ R ESET] is done from the menu.
122 7. Maintenance This section describes the simple maintenance procedures you should foll\ ow to clean the filters and replace the lamp. Cleaning or Replacing the Filter The air-filter sponge keeps dust and dirt from getting inside the projector and should be frequently cleaned. If the filter is dirty or clogged, your projector may overheat. NOTE: The message for filter cleaning will be displayed for one minute\ when the projector is turned on or off. To cancel the message, press any button on the projector cabinet or the r\ emote control. CAUTION • Turn off the projector, turn off the main power switch and unplug the pr\ ojector before replacing the filter. • Only clean the outside of the filter cover with a vacuum cleaner. • Do not attempt to operate the projector without the filter cover. To clean the air-filter: Vacuum the filter-through the filter cover. To reset the filter usage time, from the menu, select [ R ESET] → [C LEAR F ILTER H OURS]. 12 To replace the filter (sponge): CAUTION • Replace both filters at the same time. • Before replacing the filters, remove dust and dirt from the projector \ cabinet. • The projector contains high-precision parts. Keep out dust and dirt duri\ ng filter replacement. • Do not wash the filter with water. Water will damage the filter memb\ rane. • Reattach the filter cover correctly. Failure to do so may cause projec\ tor malfunction. p reparation: Replace the lamp before replacing the filters. NOTE: When you replace the lamp, it is also wise to replace the filter\ . The filter comes in the same package with your replacement lamp. 1. Remove the filter cover by pushing down on the catch of the cover until you feel it detach. 7. Maintenance Catch 2. Gently peel off the filter (sponge) and replace it with the new one. The filter is attached with self-adhesive tape. Peel off the release paper before use. 3. Clean the cabinet periodically with a damp cloth. If heavily soiled, use a mild detergent. Never use strong detergents or solvents such as alcohol or thinner. 3. Use a blower or lens paper to clean the lens, and be careful not to scratch or mar the lens. 4. Connect the supplied power cable, turn on the Main Power switch and turn on the projector. 5. Finally, select the menu → [ R ESET] → [C LEAR F ILTER H OURS] to reset the filter usage hours. ( → page 121 for resetting the filter usage time)
125 Replacing the Lamp When the lamp reaches the end of its life, the LAMP indicator in the cabinet will blink red. Even though the lamp may still be working, replace the lamp to maintain the optimal projector performance. After replacing the lamp, be sure to clear the lamp hour meter. (→ page 121) CAUTION • DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP immediately after it has been used. It will be extremely hot. Turn the projector off, wait 30 seconds, turn off the main power switch and then disconnect the power cable. Allow at least one hour for the lamp to cool before handling. • DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS except one lamp cover screw and two lamp housing screws. You could re - ceive an electric shock. • Do not break the glass on the lamp housing. Keep finger prints off the glass surface on the lamp housing. Leaving finger prints on the glass surface might cause an unwanted shadow and poor picture quality. • The projector will turn off and go into standby mode when you continue to use the projector for another 600 hours after the lamp has reached the end of its life. If this happens, be sure to replace the lamp. If you continue to use the lamp after the lamp reaches the end of its life, the lamp bulb may shatter, and pieces of glass may be scattered in the lamp case. Do not touch them as the pieces of glass may cause injury. If this happens, contact your NEC dealer for lamp replacement. To replace the lamp: Optional lamp and tools needed for replacement: • Replacement lamp NP05LP • Phillips screwdriver or equivalent 1. Place the projector on a soft cloth and turn it over to access the lamp cover on the bottom. 7. Maintenance 2. Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the lamp cover screw and remove the lamp cover. 12 7. Maintenance 3. Loosen the two screws securing the lamp housing until the phillips screwdriver goes into a freewheeling condition. The two screws are not removable. NOTE: There is an interlock on this case to prevent the risk of electric\ al shock. Do not attempt to circumvent this interlock. Insert a new lamp housing until the lamp housing is plugged into the socket. CAUTION Do not use a lamp other than the NEC replacement lamp NP05LP. Order this from your NEC dealer.
