Do not refreeze food once it has thawed. Defrosted food should be used up as quickly as possible as food soon loses it nutritional value and goes off. You can preserve small portions of fruit and vegetable into preserving jars with your microwave. Prepare the jars in the usual way. Fill the jars up to 2 cm below the rim. To neutralise odours in the oven, put a cup of water with some lemon juice in the oven and simmer for a few minutes. The door should be kept clean at all times and checked at regular intervals for any signs of damage.
