    							Door seal
    Do not use any oils or grease on the
    door seal as these will cause the
    seal to deteriorate and become
    porous over time.
    The door seal should be cleaned
    regularly with clean water, then wiped
    dry with a soft cloth.
    Active charcoal filter
    Replace the active charcoal filters with
    new ones once a year. These are
    available from Miele.
    ^
    Turn the filters 90° clockwise or
    counter-clockwise.
    ^
    Remove the filters.
    ^
    Insert the new filters with the handle
    in the vertical position.
    ^
    Turn the filters 90° clockwise or
    counter-clockwise until they click into
    position.
    After cleaning
    ^Replace all shelves in the appliance.
    ^Insert the plug in the power outlet
    and turn the appliance back on.

    							Repairs should only be carried out
    by a qualified and trained person in
    strict accordance with local and
    national safety regulations.
    Unauthorized repairs could cause
    personal injury or machine damage
    and may void the warranty.
    With the aid of the following guide
    minor problems can be corrected
    without a service call.
    What to do if...
    . . . the appliance does not get cool.
    ^Check whether the appliance has
    been turned on. The temperature
    display must be lit up.
    ^Check that the plug is correctly
    inserted in the power outlet.
    ^Check that the fuse is not defective
    and has not been tripped. Reset the
    cicrcuit breaker.
    . . . the appliance is kicking on too
    frequently and for too long.
    ^
    Check whether the ventilation slits
    are covered or dusty.
    ^
    The appliance door has been
    opened too frequently.
    ^
    Check that the door has been closed
    properly.. . . the alarm sounds and the
    temperature display flashes.
    ^Has the appliance door been open
    for longer than 60 seconds?
    If not, then the temperature is above or
    below the set temperature. Possible
    reasons:
    ^The appliance door has been
    opened too frequently.
    ^the ventilation slits are covered.
    ^there has been a lengthy interruption
    to the power supply.
    Once the problem has been resolved
    the temperature display will light up
    continuously, and the alarm will stop.
    ...abarislituporflashing in the
    temperature display.
    Only temperatures within the range that
    the appliance can display will be
    shown. If the temperature is not within
    this range, a bar will be displayed
    instead.
    ...F0orF1 appears in the
    temperature display.
    There is a fault. Contat MieleCare.
    . . . you cannot turn the appliance off.
    The safety lock has been activated.

    To prevent unnecessary loss of
    temperature it is advisable not to
    open the door while waiting for the
    appliance to be serviced.

    							Normal noises What causes them?
    Brrrrr...Humming noise made by the motor (compressor). This noise
    may get louder for brief periods, whenever the motor kicks in.
    Blubb, blubb....A gurgling noise can be heard when coolant is circulating
    through the pipes.
    Click....Clicking sounds occur whenever the thermostat switches the
    motor on or off.
    Sssrrrrr....In multi-zone and frost-free appliances, the movement of air
    circulating through the appliance can sometimes just barely be
    heard.
    Please bear in mind that a certain amount of noise is unavoidable (from the
    compressor, and the coolant circulating through the system).
    Noises that you can
    easily rectifyWhat causes them, and what can you do about
    them?
    Rattling, vibratingThe appliance is uneven: Balance the appliance using a level,
    and by raising or lowering the screw feet underneath the
    appliance, or placing something underneath them.
    The appliance is touching another appliance or piece of
    furniture: Move it away.
    Drawers, baskets, or shelves are unstable or sticking:Check all
    removable items and refit them correctly.
    Bottles or containers are unstable or knocking against each
    other: Separate them.
    The transport cable clips are hanging loose at the back of the
    appliance: Remove the clips.

    easily fix yourself, please contact the

    the address on the back of this booklet.
    When contacting the Technical Service
    Department, please quote the model
    and serial number of your appliance
    given on the data plate inside the
    appliance.

    							Installation instructions
    To prevent accidents
    and machine damage
    read these instructions
    before
    installation or use. 
    						
    							,Avoid the risk of electrical shock
    - Plug into a grounded 3-prong
    outlet.
    - Do not move the ground plug.
    - Do not use an adapter.
    - Do not use an extension cord.
    Failure to follow these instructions
    can result in death, fire, or electrical
    shock.
    Improper connection of the
    equipment grounding conductor
    may result in electric shock. If you
    are in any doubt as to whether the
    appliance has been properly
    grounded, have the appliance
    checked by a qualified electrician or
    service technician.
    Installation, repairs and other work
    by unqualified persons could be
    dangerous. The manufacturer will
    not be held responsible for damage
    or injury arising from unauthorized
    work.
    Before installing the appliance,
    verify that the voltage, load and
    circuit rating information found on
    the data plate match the household
    electrical supply.
    If there are any questions regarding the
    electrical connection of this appliance
    to the power supply, please consult a
    licensed electrician or call the Miele
    Technical Service.

    3-wire power supply cord.
    The appliance requires a 3-wire
    receptacle.
    The receptacle must be installed by a
    licensed electrician only.
    In the case of side-by-side installations,
    a separate outlet must be used for each
    appliance. Ideally, the power outlet
    should be next to the appliance and
    easily accessible. Do not connect the
    appliance to the power supply by an
    extension cord. Extension cords do not
    guarantee the required safety of the
    appliance (danger of overheating).
    If any changes are needed to the
    household wiring or power supply, this
    work must be performed by a qualified
    electrician.
    Electrical connection

    							This appliance must be built in;
    otherwise it could tip over.
    To ensure that the appliance
    functions correctly in tropical
    climates where the ambient
    temperature exceeds 38°C and air
    humidity levels exceed 70%, the
    appliance MUST be used in a
    climate-controlled room.
    Location
    The appliance should be installed in a
    dry, well-ventilated room.
    The room temperature should not go
    above or below the climate range for
    which the appliance is designed.
    The higher the ambient temperature of
    the room, the more energy the
    appliance requires to operate.
    The appliance should not be installed
    where it will be exposed to direct
    sunlight or directly adjacent to a
    heat-producing appliance such as an
    oven or a radiator.
    Climate range
    The appliance is designed for use
    within certain climate ranges (ambient
    temperatures), and should not be used
    outside this range. The climate range of
    the appliance is stated on the data
    plate inside the appliance.

    If the appliance is used in a room that is
    too cold, the cooling system will switch
    off for too long, causing the internal
    temperature in the appliance to rise,
    with the risk of affecting the wine stored
    there.
    Ventilation
    The air at the back of the appliance
    gets warm. The appliance housing unit
    must be constructed to allow sufficient
    space for ventilation.
    The air intake and outlet must not be
    covered or blocked in any way.
    They should be dusted on a regular
    basis.
    Before installation
    ^
    Before building in, remove all
    accessories from the appliance.
    ^
    Remove any cable clips from the rear
    of the appliance.
    ^
    Check that all parts at the back of the
    appliance are unhindered. Carefully
    remove any hindrances.
    Installation

    							The appliance is supplied right-hand
    hinged. If left-hand door hinging is
    required, follow the instructions below.
    ^Close the door, and unscrew the top
    hinge pin from the doora.
    ^Unscrew the door staybfrom
    underneath the door.
    ^Tip the door forward slightlyc, and
    lift it up and offd.^Unscrew the top hinge platee, turn
    it around, and refit it on the opposite
    side.
    ^Unscrew the lower hinge platef.
    ^Remove the hinge ping, and
    replace it in the hinge plate from
    underneath. Ensure that the spacer
    on which the hinge pin sits is
    correctly positioned.
    ^Turn the hinge plate around, and refit
    it on the opposite side.
