Never use scouring agents or pads, or strong cleaners such as oven sprays or stain removers, as these could harm the surface. There is a seal between the hob frame and worktop and between the frame and the ceramic plate. Use a plastic scouring pad if necessary for stubborn spills. Moisture or dirt must not penetrate the hotplate interior. The hotplates can be scoured, but not the hotplate surround.
