    P.14)
The focus pattern changes color depending on the lens position. There are two colors and they can
be used for checking the quality of the projected image. The whitefocus pattern uses the highest
optical performance to maximize the sharpness of the projected image. To enjoy the highest
sharpness, it is recommended to position the lens within this range.
When the lens is shifted outside the aforementioned range, the focus pattern turns green. Rough
focusing in this range looses image sharpness.
Adjusting the zoom position from WIDE to TELE enhances sharpness even at the same lens
position. However, the focus pattern does not change when the zoom position is changed.

    Lens shift position
About Extended mounting conditionsThe VP-12S4 has a very flexible lens shift arrangement that allows mounting the projector above the
screen possibly eliminating the need for a mounting pole. For the VP-12S4 the projector can be mounted
15% of the height of the screen(=0.15H)* above the top of the viewable portion. For extended mounting
conditions, the lens can be shifted even farther (170% →200%). However if these values are used, optical
performance may suffer slightly. This could manifest itself as chromatic aberration (minor color fringing)
    and/or geometric distortion.
If the projector is used in the extended mounting conditions, the focus pattern will be displayed in Green.
