1Operation Operation 4 Other Operations Displaying Disc Information on-screen You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen. 1. Press DISPLAY to show various playback information. The displayed items differ depending on the disc type or playing status. 2. You can select an item by pressing U u and change or select the setting by pressing I i. Title – Current title number/ total number of titles. Chapter – Current chapter number/ total number of chapters. Time – Elapsed playing time. Audio – Selected audio language or channel. Subtitle – Selected subtitle. Angle – Selected angle/total number of angles. Sound – Selected sound mode NOTE If any button is not pressed for a few seconds, the onscreen display disappears. To display the DVD Menu DVD When you play a DVD which contains several menus, you can select the menu you want using the Menu. 1. Press MENU. The disc’s menu appears. 2. Select the menu by using U u I i. 3. Press PLAY to confirm. To display the DVD Title DVD When you play a DVD which contains several titles, you can select the title you want using the Menu. 1. Press TITLE. The disc’s title appears. 2. Select the menu by pressing U u I i. 3. Press PLAY to confirm. Selecting a subtitle language DVD DivX During playback, press SUBTITLE( ) repeatedly to select a desired subtitle language. 1.5 times speed playback DVD The 1.5 speed allows you to watch the pictures and listen to the sound quicker than playing at a normal speed. 1. Operation Operation 4 Starting play from selected time DVD DivX To start playing at any chosen time on the file or title. 1. Press DISPLAY during playback. 2. Press U u to select the time clock icon and “--:--:--” appears. 3. Input the required start time in hours, minutes, and seconds from left to right. If you enter the wrong numbers, press CLEAR to remove the numbers you entered. Then input the correct numbers. For example, to find a scene at 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 20 seconds, enter “11020” by using numerical buttons. 4. Press ENTER to confirm. Playback starts from the selected time. Last Scene Memory DVD This unit memorizes the last scene from the last disc that is viewed. The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the player or switch off (Stand-by mode) the unit. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled. Changing the character set to display DivX® subtitle correctly DivX If the subtitle does not display properly during playback press and hold SUBTITLE for about 3 seconds then press I i or SUBTITLE to select another language code until the subtitle is displayed properly and then press ENTER. Programmed Playback ACD MP3 WMA The program function enables you to store your favourite files from any disc or USB device in the receiver memory. A program can contain 30 tracks/ files. 1. Select the DVD/CD or USB function by pressing FUNCTION. 2. To add a music(s) on the program list, press PROG./MEMO. to enter the program edit mode (E mark appears on the menu). 3. Select a desired music on the [List] by using the U u then press ENTER to add the music to the program list. 4. Select music from the program list then press ENTER to start programmed playback. Erasing a file from Program List 1. Use U u to select the track that you wish to erase from the Program list. 2. Press CLEAR. Erasing the Complete Program List Use U u I i to select [Clear All] then press ENTER. NOTE The programs are also cleared when the disc or USB device is removed, the unit is switched to power off or the function is switched to others. Operation Operation 4 Viewing a PHOTO file JPG This unit can play discs with photo files. 1. Select the DVD/CD or USB function by pressing FUNCTION. 2. Press U u to select a folder, and then press ENTER. A list of files in the folder appears. If you are in a file list and want to return to the previous folder list, use the U u buttons on the remote to highlight and press ENTER. 3. If you want to view a particular file, press U u to highlight a file and press ENTER or PLAY. While viewing a file, you can press STOP to move to the previous menu (JPEG menu). Viewing photo files as a slide show JPG 1. Highlight the file (not folder) which you like beginning slide show. 2. Use U u I i to highlight the Speed. Then, use I i to select the (>/ >>/ >>>) option you want to use and then press ENTER. 3. Use U u I i to highlight the (Slide Show) then press ENTER. Use U u I i to highlight () icon then press ENTER to start slide show. NOTE This function is available only in disc. Sleep Timer Setting Press SLEEP one or more times to select delay time between 10 and 180 minutes, after the unit will turn off. To check the remaining time, press SLEEP. To cancel the sleep function, press SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP 10” appears, and then press SLEEP once again while “SLEEP 10” is displayed. Operation Operation 4 Dimmer Press SLEEP once. The display window will be darken by half. To cancel it, press SLEEP repeatedly until dim off. Turn off the sound temporarily Press MUTE to mute your unit. You can mute your unit in order, for example, to answer the telephone, the “MUTE” displayed in the display window. Screen Saver The screen saver appears when you leave the unit in Stop mode for about five minutes. System Select - Optional You must select the appropriate system mode for your TV system. If “NO DISC” appears in the display window, press and hold PAUSE/STEP (X) for more than five seconds to be able to select a system. (AUTO/ PAL/ NTSC) Radio Operations Be sure that both FM and AM aerials are connected. (Refer to the page 15) Listening to the Radio 1. Press FUNCTION until FM or AM (MW ) appears in the display window. The last received station is tuned in. 2. Press and hold TUN.(-/+) for about two seconds until the frequency indication starts to change, then release. Scanning stops when the unit tunes in a station. or Press TUN.(-/+) repeatedly. 3. Adjust the volume by rotating VOL. on the front panel or by pressing VOL + or - on the remote control repeatedly. Presetting the Radio Stations You can preset 50 stations for FM and AM (MW ). Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume. 1. Press FUNCTION until FM or AM (MW ) appears in the display window. 2. Select the desired frequency by using TUN.(-/+). 3. Press PROG./MEMO. a preset number will flash in the display window. 4. Press PRESET (-/+) to select the preset number you want. 5. Press PROG./MEMO. The station is stored. 6. Repeat the steps 2 to 5 to store other stations. Deleting all the saved stations 1. Press and hold PROG./MEMO. for two seconds. “ERASE ALL” will flash up on the unit display. 2. Press PROG./MEMO. to erase all of the saved radio stations. Improving poor FM reception Press PLAY (B) (MO./ST.) on the remote control. You can change the EQ/ LG EQ using I i arrow key while the EQ/ LG EQ information is displayed on. The displayed items for the Equalizer may be different depending on sound sources and effects. On DisplayDescription NAT PLUS You can enjoy the natural sound effect same as a 5.1-channel. NATURALYou can enjoy comfortable and natural sound. Local Specialization equalizer Regionally optimized sound effect. (DANGDUT/ ARABIC/ PERSIAN/ INDIA/ REGUETON/ MERENGUE/ SALSA/ SAMBA/ CUMBIA/ AFRO) AUTO EQ Realizes the sound equalizer that is the most similar to the genre of which is included in the MP3 ID3 tag of song files. POP CLASSIC JAZZ ROCK This program lends an enthusiastic atmosphere to the sound, giving you the feeling you are at an actual rock pop, jazz or classic concert. MP3 OPT This function is optimized for compressible MP3 file. It improves the treble sound. On DisplayDescription BASS During playback, reinforce the treble, bass and surround sound effect. VIRTUALYou can enjoy more virtual surround sound. PLII MOVIE PLII MUSIC Dolby Pro Logic II enables you to play stereo source on 5.1-channel. BYPASSYou can enjoy the sound without equalizer effect. NOTE • In some of surround modes, on some speakers, there’s no sound or low sound. it, depends on the mode of surround and the source of audio, it is not defective. • You may need to reset the surround mode, after switching the input, sometimes even after the sound track changed. Operation Operation 4 Advanced Operations Listening to music from your portable player or external device The unit can be used to play the music from many types of portable player or external devices. (Refer to the page 14) 1. Connect the portable player to the P. IN(PORTABLE IN) connector of the unit. Or Connect the external device to the AUX connector of the unit. 2 Turn the power on by pressing POWER. 3 Select the PORTABLE or AUX function by pressing FUNCTION. 4 Turn the portable player or external device and start it playing. Recording to USB 1. Connect the USB device to the unit. 2. Select a DVD/ CD function by pressing FUNCTION. One track recording - You can record to USB after play you want file. All tracks recording - You can record to USB after stop. Program list recording - After moving to the programmed list and you can record it to USB. 3 Start the recording by pressing z REC. 4 To stop recording, press x STOP. NOTE • You can check the recording percentage rate for the USB record on the screen during the recording. • When you stop recording during playback, the file that has been recorded at that time will be stored. • Do not remove the USB device or turn off the unit during USB recording. If not, an incomplete file may be made and not deleted on PC. • If USB recording does not work, the message like “NO USB”, “ERROR”, “USB FULL” or “NO REC” is displayed on the display window. • When you stop recording during playback, the file will not be stored. • In the state CD-G, DTS disc USB record is not operated. • You may not store more than 999 files. • It’ll be stored as TRK_001 on CD FOLDER. The making of unauthorized copies of copy-protected material, including computer programs, files, broadcasts and sound recordings, may be an infringement of copyrights and constitute a criminal offense. Maintenance Maintenance 5 Handling the Unit When shipping the Unit Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. Keeping the exterior surfaces clean • Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit. • Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface. Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time. Cleaning the Unit To clean the unit, use a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzene, or thinner, as these might damage the surface of the unit. Maintaining the Unit The unit is a high-tech, precision device. If the optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty or worn, the picture quality could be diminished. For details, please contact your nearest authorized service center. Notes on Discs Handling Discs Never stick paper or tape on the disc. Storing Discs After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight. Cleaning Discs Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from the center out. The signal strength of the radio station is too weak.Tune to the station manually. No stations have been preset or preset stations have been cleared (when tuning by scanning preset channels). Preset some radio stations, see page 24 for details. The remote control doesn’t work well / at all The remote is not pointed directly at the unit. Point the remote directly at the unit. The remote is too far from the unit. Use the remote within 23 feet (7m) of the DVD receiver. There is an obstacle in the path between the remote control and the unit.Remove the obstacle.
