Getting Started11 Getting Started1 yThe file name is limited to 180 characters. yM aximum files/folder: Less than 2 000 (total number of files and folders) y D epending on the size and number of the files, it may take several minutes to read the contents on the media. y F ile compatibility may differ depending on the server. y B ecause the compatibility on DLNA server are tested on the bundle DLNA server (Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials Windows edition) environment, file requirements and playback functions may differ depending on media servers. y T he file requirements on page 10 are not always compatible. There may have some restrictions by file features and media server’s ability. y P laying a movie subtitle files are only available on share folder of a PC or DLNA media server created by supplied Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials software on this player package. y T he files from removable media such as USB drive, DVD-drive etc. on your media server may not be shared properly. y T his unit cannot support the ID3 Tag embedded MP3 file. y T he total playback time of audio file indicated on the screen may not correct for VBR files. y HD mo vie files contained on the CD/DVD or USB 1.0/1.1 may not played properly. Blu-ray Disc or USB 2.0 are recommended to play back HD movie files. y T his player supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC profile Main, High at Level 4.1. For a file with higher level, the warning message will appear on the screen. y T his player does not support files that are recorded with GMC *1 or Qpel*2. *1 GMC – Global M otion Compensation *2 Qpel – Quar ter pixel ,Note y A “avi” file which is encoded “WMV 9 codec” is not supported. y T his player supports UTF-8 files even it contains Unicode subtitle contents. This player can not support the pure Unicode subtitle files. y D epending on the types of file or ways of recording, it may not play back. y A disc which was r ecorded by multi-session on normal PC is not supported on this player. y T o be playback a movie file, movie file name and Subtitle file name must be the same. y I f video codec is MPEG2 TS or MPEG2 PS, subtitle does not play back. y T he total playback time of music file indicated on the screen may not correct for VBR files. ,Note AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) y This player can playback AVCHD format discs. These discs are normally recorded and used in camcorders. y T he AVCHD format is a high definition digital video camera format. y T he MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format is capable of compressing images at higher efficiency than that of the conventional image compressing format. y T his player can playback AVCHD discs using “x.v.Color” format. y S ome AVCHD format discs may not play depending on the recording condition. y A VCHD format discs need to be finalized. y“ x.v.Color” offers a wider color range than normal DVD camcorder discs.
Getting Started 12 Getting Started1 About DLNA This Player is a DLNA Certified digital media player that can display and play movie, photo and music content from your DLNA-compatible digital media server (PC and Consumer Electronics). The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a cross-industry organization of consumer electronics, computing industry and mobile device companies. Digital Living provides consumers with easy sharing of digital media through your home network. The DLNA certification logo makes it easy to find products that comply with the DLNA Interoperability Guidelines. This unit complies with DLNA Interoperability Guidelines v1.5. When a PC running DLNA server software or other DLNA compatible device is connected to this player, some setting changes of software or other devices may be required. Please refer to the operating instructions for the software or device for more information. Certain System Requirements For high definition video playback: y H igh definition display that has HDMI input jack. yBD -ROM disc with high definition content. yHDMI or HDCP capable D VI input on your display device is required for some content (as specified by disc authors). Regional Code This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only BD-ROM or DVD discs labeled same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”. System Select Press B (OPEN/CLOSE) when a disc is inserted, and do not remove the disc. Press and hold M (PAUSE) for more than five seconds while [OPEN] is displayed in the display window.

B (OPEN/CLOSE): Ejects a disc. FUNCTION: Changes input mode. 0-9 numerical buttons: Selects numbered options in a menu. CLEAR: Removes a mark on the search menu or a number when setting the password. VOL +/-: Adjusts speaker volume. OPTICAL: Changes input mode to optical directly. Direction buttons: Selects an option in the menu. PRESET +/-: Selects programme of Radio. TUNING +/-: Tunes in the desired radio station. ENTER ( b): Acknowledges menu selection. BACK ( 1): Exits the menu or returns to the previous screen. TITLE/POPUP: Displays the DVD title menu or BD-ROM’s pop-up menu, if available. AUDIO: Selects an audio language or audio channel. SLEEP: Sets a certain period of time after which the unit will switch to off. X (REC): Records an audio CD. ? : Marked button is not available. Connecting 16 Connecting2 Mounting the main unit on a wall You can mount the main unit on a wall. Prepare screws and brackets supplied. Preperation UnitWall bracket WALL BRACKET INSTALL GUIDE 1. Match the TV BOTTOM LINE of WALL BRACKET INSTALL GUIDE with the bottom of TV and attach to the position. TV 2. When you mount it on a wall (concrete), use the wall plugs (Not supplied). You should drill some holes. A guide sheet ( WALL BRACKET INSTALL GUIDE) is supplied to drill. Use the sheet to check the point to drill. Screws and Wall Plugs are not supplied for mounting the unit. We recommend the Hilti (HUD-1 6 x 30) for the mounting. Please purchase it. ,Note 3. Remove the WALL BRACKET INSTALL GUIDE. 4. F ix it with screws (not supplied) as shown in the illustration below.

Hang the main unit ont o the brackets, as shown below. y Do not hang onto the installed unit and avoid any impact to the unit. y S ecure the unit firmly to the wall so that it does not fall off. If the unit falls off, it may result in an injury or damage to the product. y When the unit is installed on a wall , please make sure that a child does not pull any of connecting cables, as it may cause it to fall. >Caution Detach the unit from the bracket as shown below. ,Note You can arrange cables with the cable holder as shown below. Blue or yellow (blink) The wireless subwoofer is trying to connect. Red The Wireless subwoofer is in standby mode. Off (No display) The Wireless subwoofer is turned off. Initial setting of an ID for the wireless subwoofer 1. Connect the power cord of the Wireless subwoofer to the outlet. 2. T urn on the main unit : The main unit and wireless subwoofer will be automatically connected. Setting an ID for the wireless subwoofer When the unit is manufactured, the ID is already set. If interference occurs or you use a new wireless subwoofer, an ID should be set again. 1. P ress HOME ( ). 2. Use I /i to select the [Setup] and press ENTER ( b). The [Setup] menu appears. 3. Use U /u to select [AUDIO] option then press i to move to the second level. 4. Use U /u to select the [Connect wireless speakers] option then press ENTER ( b) or i to move to the third level. The [ Wireless Speaker Connection Guide] appears. 5. P ress PAIRING button on the subwoofer. - I f you see the blue or yellow LED indicator light, pairing was successful. 6. Use I /i to select the [Speaker test] and press ENTER ( b) for wireless speaker connection test.

Put the unit ( Wireless subwoofer and main unit) away from there. y I f you operate main unit then wireless subwoofer (rear speakers) sound within a few seconds in standby mode. y S et the distance between this unit and subwoofer Receiver within 10 m (32 ft.). y Optimum per formance can be implemented only when the unit and the Wireless subwoofer within distance of 2 m (6 ft.) to 10 m (32 ft.) is used since communication failure may occur if longer distance is used. y I t takes a few seconds (and may take longer) for the Wireless Transmitter and subwoofer to communicate with each other. ,NoteConnecting to Your TV Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment. y HDMI connec tion (page 20) yV ideo connection (page 21) yD epending on your TV and other equipment you wish to connect, there are various ways you could connect the player. Use only one of the connections described in this manual. y P lease refer to the manuals of your TV, stereo system or other devices as necessary to make the best connections. y M ake sure the player is connected directly to the TV. Tune the TV to the correct video input channel. y D o not connect your player via your VCR. The image could be distorted by the copy protection system. ,Note
Connecting 20 Connecting2 HDMI Connection If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this player using a HDMI cable ( Type A, High speed HDMI™ cable with Ethernet). Connect the HDMI jack on the player to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor. Rear of the unit TV HDMI cable Set the TV’s source to HDMI (refer to TV’s Owner’s manual). Additional Information for HDMI y When you connect a HDMI or DVI compatible device make sure of the following: - T ry switching off the HDMI/DVI device and this player. Next, switch on the HDMI/DVI device and leave it for around 30 seconds, then switch on this player. - T he connected device’s video input is set correctly for this unit. - T he connected device is compatible with 720x576p, 1280x720p, 1920x1080i or 1920x1080p video input. y Not all HDCP -compatible HDMI or DVI devices will work with this player. - T he picture will not be displayed properly with non-HDCP device. y I f a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the player, the HDMI device’s audio sound may be distorted or may not output. y When y ou use HDMI connection, you can change the resolution for the HDMI output. (Refer to “Resolution Setting” on page 22.) y S elect the type of video output from the HDMI OUT jack using [HDMI Color Setting] option on the [Setup] menu (see page 33). y Chang ing the resolution when the connection has already been established may result in malfunctions. To solve the problem, turn off the player and then turn it on again. y When the HDMI connec tion with HDCP is not verified, TV screen is changed to black screen. In this case, check the HDMI connection, or disconnect the HDMI cable. y I f there are noises or lines on the screen, please check the HDMI cable (length is generally limited to 4.5 m(15 ft.)). ,Note What is SIMPLINK? Some functions of this unit are controlled by the TV’s remote control when this unit and LG TV’s with SIMPLINK are connected through HDMI connection. Controllable functions by LG TV’s remote control; Play, Pause, Scan, Skip, Stop, Power Off, etc. Refer to the TV owner’s manual for the details of SIMPLINK function. LG TV’s with SIMPLINK function has the logo as shown above. Depending on the disc type or playing status, some SIMPLINK operation may differ from your purpose or not work. ,Note
