    21MAKING CONNECTIONS
    Connecting to a HD receiver, DVD, or VCR player
    Connect a HD receiver, DVD, or VCR player to the TV and select an approp\
    riate input mode.
    HDMI Connection
    HDMI is the best way to connect a device.
    Transmits the digital video and audio signals from an external device to the TV. Connect the external device 
    and the TV with the HDMI cable as shown in the following illustration. 
    y Use the latest High Speed HDMI™ Cable with CEC (Customer Electronics\
     Control) function. 
     
    y High Speed HDMI™ Cables are tested to carry an HD signal up to 1080p \
    and higher.
     NOTE
    Choose any HDMI input port to connect. It does not matter which port you\
     use.

    Connecting to a mobile phone
    Mobile High-definition Link (MHL) is an interface for transmitting dig\
    ital audiovisual signals from mobile 
    phones to television sets. 
    y Connect the mobile phone to the HDMI/DVI IN 4 (MHL) port to view the p\
    hone screen on the TV.
     
    y This only works for the MHL-enabled phone.
     
    y Some applications can be operated by the remote control.
     
    y For some mobile phones supporting MHL, you can control with the Magic Re\
    mote Control.
     
    y The MHL passive cable is needed to connect the TV and a mobile phone.

    Component Connection

    Composite Connection

    Connecting to a PC
     
    y It is recommended to use the HDMI connection for the best image quality.\
     
    y Depending on the graphics card, DOS mode video may not work if a HDMI to\
     DVI Cable is in use.
     
    y In PC mode, there may be noise associated with the resolution, vertical patter\
    n, contrast or 
    brightness. If noise is present, change the PC output to another resolut\
    ion, change the refresh rate 
    to another rate or adjust the brightness and contrast on the PICTURE men\
    u until the picture is clear.
     
    y The synchronization input form for Horizontal and Vertical frequencies i\
    s separate.
     
    y Depending on the graphics card, some resolution settings may not allow t\
    he image to be positioned 
    on the screen properly.

    Connecting to an Audio System
    You may use an optional external audio system instead of the built-in sp\
    eaker. 
    y If you use an optional external audio device instead of the built-in spe\
    aker, set the TV speaker 
    feature to off.
     NOTE
    Digital Optical Audio Connection
    Transmits a digital audio signal from the TV to an external device. Conn\
    ect the external device and the TV 
    with the optical audio cable as shown in the following illustration.
     
    y Do not look into the optical output port. Looking at the laser beam may \
    damage your vision.
     
    y Audio with ACP (Audio Copy Protection) function may block digital audi\

    Connecting to a USB
    Connect a USB storage device such as a USB flash memory, external hard d\
    rive, or a USB memory card 
    reader to the TV and access the Smart Share menu to use various multimed\
    ia files. 
    y To use a HDD device, make sure that it is connected to the USB IN 1 HDD \
    IN port.
     
    y To store apps on a USB storage device, make sure that it is connected to\
     the USB IN 3 USB Apps

    y Some USB Hubs may not work. If a USB device connected using a USB Hub is\
     not detected,

    Magic Remote Control Functions
    When the message “Magic remote control battery is low. Change the bat\
    tery.” is 
    displayed, replace the battery. To replace batteries, open the battery c\
    over, replace 
    batteries (1.5 V AA) matching 
     and  ends to the label inside the compartment, 
    and close the battery cover. Be sure to point the remote control at the \
    remote control 
    sensor on the TV. To remove the batteries, perform the installation acti\
    ons in reverse.
     
    y Do not mix old and new batteries, as this may damage the remote control.\
     CAUTION
    Make sure to point the remote control at the remote control sensor on th\
    e TV.

    Turns the TV on or off.

    Accesses the Home menu.

    If you press the navigation button while  moving the pointer on the screen, the

    Select the Voice Search icon on the screen. 
    Speak slowly and precisely. When a voice 
    is recognized, the processing message 
    appears on the screen. Use the magic 
    remote control no further than 15 cm from 
    your face. (This is a beta version and only 
    available in selected functions for supported
