Clearing jams
Jam error messages appear on the printer control panel display and include the area of the printer where the jam
occurred. When there is more than one jam, the number of jammed pages is displayed.
Note: Jam recovery is set to Auto by default. When jam recovery is set to Auto, the memory that holds the image of
the page may be re‑used after the page is printed if the memory is needed for another use. This can occur before the
paper exits the printer. Therefore, a jammed page may or may not...

Identifying jams in the paper path
The following illustration shows the path that paper travels through the printer. The path varies depending on the input
source (tray or feeder) and depending on whether a duplex (two‑sided) print job is being sent.
When a jam occurs, a jam message appears, indicating the region of the jam or the number of jammed sheets. The
three‑digit jam prefix numbers are given in the following illustration to show where each jam occurs.
