    							8After selecting your job type, use the keypad to enter your PIN.
    If you enter an invalid PIN, the Invalid PIN screen appears.
    To re‑enter the PIN, make sure Try again appears, and then press .
    To cancel the PIN, press the up or down arrow button until Cancel appears, and then press .
    9Press the up or down arrow button until  appears next to the job you want to print, and then press .
    10Press the up or down arrow button until  appears next to the number of copies you want to print, and then press
    .
    Note: Use the keypad to enter a number if necessary.
    Printing from a flash drive
    A USB port is located on the printer control panel. Insert a flash drive to print supported file types. Supported file types
    include: .pdf, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .bmp, .png, .tiff, .tif, .pcx, .xps, and .dcx.
    Notes:
    High‑speed flash drives must support the full‑speed USB standard. Flash drives supporting only USB low‑speed
    capabilities are not supported.
    Flash drives must support the FAT (File Allocation Tables) system. Flash drives formatted with NTFS (New
    Technology File System) or any other file system are not supported.
    Before printing an encrypted .pdf file, enter the file password from the printer control panel.
    You cannot print files for which you do not have printing permissions.
    1Make sure the printer is on and Ready appears.
    2Insert a flash drive into the front USB port.
    Notes:
    If you insert the flash drive when the printer requires attention, such as when a jam has occurred, then the
    printer ignores it.
    If you insert the flash drive while the printer is printing other jobs, then Printer Busy appears. After the
    other jobs are processed, you may need to view the held jobs list to print documents from the flash drive. Printing71

    							3Press the up or down arrow button until  appears next to the document you want to print, and then press .
    Note: Folders found on the flash drive appear as folders. File names are appended by the extension type (for
    example, .jpg).
    4Press  to print one copy, or enter the number of copies using the keypad, and then press  to initiate the print
    job.
    Note: Do not remove the flash drive from the printer until the document has finished printing.
    If you leave the flash drive in the printer after leaving the initial USB menu screen, you can still print .pdf files from
    the flash drive as held jobs.
    Printing photos from a PictBridge‑enabled digital camera
    1Insert one end of the USB cable into the camera.
    Note: Use only the USB cable that came with your camera.
    2Insert the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on the front of the printer.
    Notes:
    Make sure the PictBridge‑enabled digital camera is set to the correct USB mode. For more information, see
    the camera documentation.
    If the PictBridge connection is successful, then a confirmation message appears on the printer display.
    3Follow the instructions on the camera to select and print photos.
    Note: If the printer is turned off while the camera is connected, then you must disconnect and then reconnect the
    camera.
    Printing information pages
    Printing a font sample list
    To print samples of the fonts currently available for your printer:
    1Make sure the printer is on and Ready appears.
    2From the printer control panel, press .
    3Press the up or down arrow button until Reports appears, and then press . Printing72

    							4Press the up or down arrow button until Print Fonts appears, and then press .
    5Press the up or down arrow button until  appears next to PCL Fonts, PostScript Fonts, or PPDS
    Fonts, and then press 
    .
    After the font sample list prints, Ready appears.
    Printing a directory list
    A directory list shows the resources stored in flash memory or on the hard disk.
    1Make sure the printer is on and Ready appears.
    2From the printer control panel, press .
    3Press the up or down arrow button until Reports appears, and then press .
    4Press the up or down arrow button until Print Directory appears, and then press .
    After the directory list prints, the printer returns to the Ready state.
    Printing the print quality test pages
    Print the print quality test pages to isolate print quality problems.
    1Turn the printer off.
    2Hold down  and the right arrow button while turning the printer on.
    3Release the buttons when the clock appears, and wait for CONFIG MENU to appear.
    4Press the up or down arrow button until Prt Quality Pgs appears, and then press .
    The print quality test pages print.
    5Press the up or down arrow button until Exit Config Menu appears, and then press .
    Resetting the Printer appears briefly, followed by a clock, and then Ready appears.
    Canceling a print job
    Canceling a print job from the printer control panel
    If the job is formatting or already printing, and Cancel a job appears on the first line of the display:
    1Press the up or down arrow button until Cancel appears.
    A list of jobs appears.
    2Press the up or down arrow button until  appears next to the job you want to cancel, and then press .
    Note: Once a print job is sent, to easily cancel a job, press

    							Canceling a print job from the computer
    For Windows users
    1Open the printers folder:
    aClick , or click Start and then click Run.
    bIn the Start Search or Run box, type control printers.
    cPress Enter, or click OK.
    The printers folder opens.
    2Double‑click the printer icon.
    3Select the job to cancel.
    4From the keyboard, press Delete.
    From the Windows taskbar:
    When you send a job to print, a small printer icon appears in the right corner of the taskbar.
    1Double‑click the printer icon.
    A list of print jobs appears in the printer window.
    2Select a job to cancel.
    3From the keyboard, press Delete.
    For Macintosh users
    In Mac OS X version 10.5 or later:
    1From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2Click Print & Fax, and then double‑click the printer icon.
    3From the printer window, select the job to cancel.
    4From the icon bar at the top of the window, click the Delete icon.
    In Mac OS X version 10.4 and earlier:
    1From the Go menu, choose Applications.
    2Double‑click Utilities, and then double‑click Printer Setup Utility or Print Center.
    3Double‑click the printer icon.
    4From the printer window, select the job to cancel.
    5From the icon bar at the top of the window, click the Delete icon. Printing74

    							Printing in black and white
    To print all text and graphics using only the black toner cartridge, set the printer to Black Only.
    Note: The printer driver is capable of overriding this setting.
    1From the printer control panel, press .
    2Press the up or down arrow button until Settings appears, and then press .
    3Press the up or down arrow button until Quality Menu appears, and then press .
    4Press the up or down arrow button until Print Mode appears, and then press .
    5Press the up or down arrow button until Black Only appears, and then press .
    Submitting selection appears.
    Using Max Speed and Max Yield
    The Max Speed and Max Yield settings let you choose between a faster print speed or a higher toner yield. Max Yield
    is the factory default setting.
    Max Speed—Prints in color mode unless black only is selected by the driver. Prints in black only mode if the black
    only driver setting is selected.
    Max Yield—Switches from black to color mode based on the color content found on each page. Frequent color
    mode switching can result in slower printing if the content of pages is mixed.
    1Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser.
    Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then print a network setup page and locate the address
    in the TCP/IP section.
    2Click Settings.
    3Click Print Settings.
    4Click Setup Menu.
    5From the Printer Usage list, select Max Speed or Max Yield.

    If the same size and type of paper are in two trays and the Paper Size and
    Paper Type settings match, then the trays are automatically linked. When
    one tray is empty, the job prints using the linked tray.
