No sealants or adhesives are used for automatic transmission assembly. Gaskets are installed dry. Lip seals should be dipped in ATF before installation. Clutch linings should be soaked in ATF for at least one-half hour before assembly. Use petroleum jelly to retain torrington bearings in place during assembly. Do not use ordinary grease.
