Suspension Modifications
Discovery Series II
Due to the sophisticated nature of the suspension system on Series II Discovery the traditionally accepted driving
characteristics of large 4X4 vehicles, such as excessive body roll during cornering and steering kick-back, are greatly
reduced. This is largely due to features such as Self-Levelling Suspension (SLS) and Active Cornering Enhancement
(ACE), as well as altered steering geometry and a revised steering system. For this reason, the traditionally accepted
methods of uprating the suspension are largely unnecessary. 
However, some owners of Series II Discovery still feel that improvements can be made to the vehicles damping (shock
absorbers) and suspension bushes, to give less of an on road/off road compromise and a more car-like feel, particularly
when off-road ability is not a priority. 
Therefore, we still offer a range of uprated shock absorbers and polyurethane bushes, plus an uprated steering damper,
which contribute to superior on-road driving characteristics  without adversely affecting off-road ability.
Shock absorbers are available from Koni (oil-filled, adjustable) and Bilstein (gas, non-adjustable) in car-sets or pairs
(front and rear). Polyurethane bush kits are available in vehicle sets (plus supplementary kits) or individually. The
uprated steering damper is from Bilstein. Please also refer to our Brakes section for uprated brake discs and pads.
