If the interior lights do not come on when a door is open, check suspect door switch and associated wiring. SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS 1. If the central locking function does not operate at all, do Test A. 2. If a Front Door Lock Actuator (M114, M122) does not operate, do Test B. 3. If the doors unlock themselves after operating the door locks, do Test C. 4. If the central locking function does not operate from one of the front doors, do Test D. 5. If the Tailgate Lock Actuator (M132) does not operate, do Test E. 6. If both Rear Door Lock Actuators (M117, M125) do not operate, do Test F.

POWER MIRRORS 1 ETM M3 DISCOVERY ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL CIRCUIT OPERATION When the Ignition Switch (X134) is in Position II, voltage is suplied to the power mirrors circuit by fuse F18. Left/Right Movement When a selected mirror is moved to the left by the Mirror Adjustment Switch (X146) the internal contacts move to the ªMove Down or Leftº and the ªMove Leftº Positions. The Left/Right Motor of the selected actuator is grounded at E200 through the SW wires and the switch contacts. Voltage is applied to the Left/Right Motor through the BP, BU wires. The mirror now moves left. When a selected mirror is moved to the right by the Mirror Adjustment Switch (X146) the internal contacts move to the ªMove Up or Rightº and the ªMove Rightº positions. The Left/Right Motor of the selected actuator is grounded at E200 through the BU, BP wires and the switch contacts. Voltage is applied to the Left/Right Motor through the SW wires. Since the polarity of the voltage to the motor has been reversed, the mirror now moves right. Up/Down Movement When a selected mirror is moved down by the Mirror Adjustment Switch (X146) the internal contacts move to the ªMove Down or Leftº and the ªMove Downº positions. The Up/Down Motor of the selected actuator is grounded at E200 through the SW wires and the switch contacts. Voltage is applied to the Up/Down Motor through the BK, BN wires. The mirror now moves down. When a selected mirror is moved Up by the Mirror Adjustment Switch (X146) the internal contacts move to the ªMove Up or Rightº and the ªMove Upº positions. The Up/Down Motor of the selected actuator is grounded at E200 through the BN, BK wires and the switch contacts. Voltage is a applied to the Up/Down Motor through the SW wires. Since the polarity of the voltage to the motor has been reversed, the mirror now moves up.
