In VFO or Memory Recall mode, use the keypad to select a frequency {page 45} or memory channel number {page 28}. Press [ENT] first. In Menu mode, use the keypad to select a menu item. For example, pressing [1], [4], [1] in sequence selects Menu 1Ð4Ð1 (DATA BAND). To manually send a DTMF number, press and hold the PTT switch, then press the keys on the keypad {page 41}.You can also use the keypad to program a memory channel name {pages 29 and 42}, Power-ON message {page 50}, or other character strings. For example, each press of [TNC] switches entry as A, B, C, a, b, c, then 2. Press [DUAL] to switch 0 and space. Press [ENT] to switch among the special ASCII characters. The selectable special characters are listed below: Note: Pressing [UP]/ [DWN] allows you to select more special ASCII characters than above. TH-D7 E 10 Getting Acquainted98.12.4, 0:10 PM 15

Generally they operate at higher ERP (Effective Radiated Power) than a typical station. This combination of elevation and high ERP allows communications over much greater distances than communications without using repeaters. Most repeaters use a receive and transmit frequency pair with a standard or non-standard offset (odd-split). In addition, some repeaters must receive a tone from the transceiver to allow it to access. For details, consult your local repeater reference.Offset Programming Flow If you store the above data in a memory channel, you need not reprogram every time. See ÒMEMORY CHANNELSÓ {page 26}. Then, if necessary, press [F], [A/B] to recall the sub-band. n Selecting Offset DirectionSelect whether the transmit frequency will be higher (+) or lower (Ð) than the receive frequency. Press [F], [MHz] to switch the offset direction.¥ Ò+Ó or ÒÐÓ appears to indicate which offset direction is selected. ¥ To program Ð7.6 MHz offset on the TH-D7E (UHF only), repeatedly press [F], [MHz] until Ò Ó appears. If the offset transmit frequency falls outside the allowable range, transmitting is inhibited. Use one of the following methods to bring the transmit frequency within the band limits:¥ Move the receive frequency further inside the band. ¥ Change the offset direction.Note: While using an odd-split memory channel or transmitting, you cannot change the offset direction. STACON PACKET 96BCON DUP 9 75 n Selecting Offset FrequencyTo access a repeater which requires an odd-split frequency pair, change the offset frequency from the default which is used by most repeaters. The default offset frequency on the VHF band is 600 kHz no matter which market version; the default on the UHF band is 5 MHz (TH-D7A) or 1.6 MHz (TH-D7E). 1Press [F], [5] to select ÒFÐ5 (OFFSET)Ó. 2Press [UP]/ [DWN] to select the appropriate offset frequency. ¥ The selectable range is from 0.00 MHz to 29.95 MHz in steps of 50 kHz. 3Press [OK] to complete the setting.TH-D7E Only: If you have selected Ò Ó for the offset direction, you cannot change the default (7.6 MHz).
