    Forsafeoperationofthewaterheater,thereliefvalve 
    mustnotberemovedfromitsdesignatedopeningor

    Thetemperature-pressurereliefvalvemustbeinstalled 
    directlyintothefittingofthewaterheaterdesignated 
    forthereliefvalve.Positionthevalvedownwardandpro- 
    videtubingsothatanydischargewillexitonlywithin6 
    inchesabove,oratanydistancebelowthestructural 
    floor.Becertainthatnocontactismadewithanylive 
    electricalpart.Thedischargeopeningmustnotbe 
    blockedorreducedinsizeunderanycircumstances. 
    Excessivelength,over30feet,oruseofmorethanfour 
    elbowscancauserestrictionandreducethedischarge 
    capacityofthevalve. 
    Novalveorotherobstructionistobeplacedbetween 
    thereliefvalveandthetank.Donotconnecttubing 
    directlytodischargedrainunlessa6airgapisprovided.

    waterheater,becausetheplacementisaveryimportantconsid- 
    erationforthesafetyoftheoccupantsinthebuildingandfor 
    themosteconomicaluseoftheappliance.Thiswaterheateris 
    notforuseinmobilehomesoroutdoorinstallation. 
    Whetherreplacinganoldwaterheaterorputtingthewater 
    heaterinanewlocation,thefollowingcriticalpointsmustbe 
    observed. 
    Thelocationselectedshouldbeindoorsascloseaspractical 
    tothegasventorchimneytowhichthewaterheaterventis 
    goingtobeconnected,andascentralizedwiththewaterpip- 
    ingsystemaspossible.Thewaterheater,asallwaterheaters, 
    wilteventuallyleak.Donotinstallwithoutadequate 
    drainageprovisionswherewaterflowwillcausedamage.
