RemovetheBobbinCasefromthe Shuttle 1.Removetheextensiontablefromthe machinebypullingittotheleft. 2.a.Openthebobbinaccesscoverby pullingitdownatthenotch. b.Useyourforefingerandthumbtopull openthelatchonthebobbincase. c.Pullthebobbincaseoutoftheshuttle. ® Bobbinaccess, cover Notch Bobbincase 3.Turnthebobbincaseupsidedownandthe bobbinwilldropoutofthecase. ® 11
InserttheBobbinintotheBobbinCase ® ® 1.Insertthebobbinintothebobbincasewith thethreadrunningcounterclockwise. 2.Pullthethreadthroughtheslitinthe bobbincase. 3,a.Pullthethreadunderneaththelfl_ tensionspring.Itwillclockwhenitisin place. boPull3to4inchesofthethreadfromthe bobbincase. InsertthebobbinCaseintotheShuttle Locating groove Notch 1.Holdthebobbincasebythelatch,withthe locatinggroovedownward. 2.Placethebobbincaseontotheshuttle, keepingthethreadpulledtowardyou. NOTE:Besurethenotchintheshuttlefits intothegrooveofthebobbincase. Itwillclickwhenitisinplace. 12 \ \ \ 3.Foldthelatchtotherighttolockthe bobbincaseinplace.

PickuptheBobbinThread 1.Raisethepresserfootlever. 2.a.Holdthetopthreadlooselyinyourleft hand. b.Withyourrighthand,rotatethehand wheeltowardyouuntilthetake-uplever hascometothetopagain. 3.a.Pullthetopthreadwithyourlefthandto bringupthebobbinthread. b.Pullthebobbinthreaduntiltheend comesthroughtheopeningofthe needleplate. 4.Pullboththreadsunderthepresserfoot towardthebackofthemachine. Ifyoudidnotpickupthebobbinthreadwiththeabovesteps,checkyourmethod withthequestionsbelow: 1.Isthethreadthroughtheeyeoftheneedle(fronttoback)? 2.Isntthethreadtangledaroundtheneedle? 3.Isthebobbininsertedinitscasewiththethreadrunningcounterclockwise? 4.Isthethreadpulledunderneaththebobbincasetensionspring? 5.Isntthethreadinthebobbintangled? 6.Arethere3to4inchesofthreadcomingoutofthebobbincase? ChecktheThreadTension Adjustthetopthreadtension Straightstitching Thegoodlookingappearanceofyourstitching islargelydeterminedbythebalancedtensionof bothtopandbobbinthreads.Thetensioniswell balancedwhenthesetwothreadslockinthe middleoflayersoffabricyouaresewing. NOTE:Formostfabricthetopthreadtension shouldbebalancedwithintheorange zonebetween2and4onthethread tensioncontrol. If,whenyoustarttosew,youfindthatthe stitchingisirregular,youwillneedtoadjustthe tensioncontrol. 1.Lowerthepresserfootlever. 2.a.Ifthethreadsarelockingonthetop surfacewiththetopthreadlyingflat,the topthreadistootight.Slidethetension controltotheleft(lowernumbers). b.Ifthereverseishappeningwiththethreads ontheundersideofthefabric,thetop threadistooloose.Slidethetension controltotheright(highernumbers). Zigzagstitching Thetopthreadmayappearontheunderside dependinguponthethread,fabric,typeof stitchandsewingspeed,butthebobbinthread mustNEVERappearonthetopofthefabric. Adjustthebobbinthreadtension NOTE:Youwillrarelyneedtoadjustthebobbin threadtension.Mostadjustmentsshould bemadeonthetopthread. 1.Ifthetensioniswellbalanced,buttheseam puckersbadly,loosenthebobbinandtop threadtension. 2.a.Insertthesmallscrewdirverintothescrew onthesideofthebobbincase. b.Makeonlyasmalladjustmenteachtime, i.e.quartertohalfaturntotherightto increasetensionrortothelefttodecrease tension.
