    TELETEXT LANGUAGE
    There are four types of teletext language 
    groups. Set the teletext language group that 
    corresponds to the language of the teletext 
    programme that you want to watch.
    1 Choose TELETEXT LANGUAGE, 
    then press the a or 3 button
    2 Press the 6 buttons to choose a 
    group
    3 Press the a button to complete 
    the setting
    The menu disappears.
    • Languages that are not included in the 
    teletext language group that you select, 
    the sub-titles of the teletext programme 
    will not be displayed properly.
    HDMI SETTING
    This function is used if you have a DVI or 
    HDMI compatible device connected to your 
    TV. For details, see “Using the HDMI 
    terminal” on page 49.

    Displaying a computer screen
    This TV can be used as a computer screen.
    Connecting to the computer
    Use a D-SUB cable to connect the TV’s PC 
    IN terminal to the computer’s analogue RGB 
    output terminal.
    If you want to listen to the sound from the 
    computer, use an audio cable to connect the 
    VIDEO-3 AUDIO L/R sound input terminal 
    to the computer’s sound output terminal.
    When the sound from the computer is mono, 
    connect to the VIDEO-3 AUDIO L terminal.
    • Refer to the computer manual for a 
    detailed explanation of the connections at 
    the computer side.
    • Ensure that the connectors are facing the 
    correct way when connecting.
    • After connecting the D-SUB cable, 
    tighten the two screws to fix the connector 
    in place.
    Watching images from a 
    computer
    After starting the computer, press the 
    4 or 6 p buttons 
    to choose “PC”
    You can listen to the sound when the 
    sound from the computer is connected to 
    the VIDEO-3 AUDIO L/R sound input 
    terminal.
    • When the sound from the computer is 
    connected to VIDEO-3, by choosing 
    external input VIDEO-3 the sound 
    from the computer can be listened to, 
    but the images from the computer 
    cannot be seen.
    Table of signals for each type 
    of computer
    * Only the above formats are supported.
    * Even with the above formats and at 
    60 Hz, some problems may be 
    experienced depending on the quality of 
    the synchronous signal. (Depending on 
    the quality, some pictures may not be 
    displayed properly.)
    * Apple Macintosh
    * computers are not 
    supported.
    When a picture is not displayed
    Check the computer’s refresh rate and set it 
    to 60 Hz. Refer to the computer’s instruction 
    manual.
    Computers which cannot have their refresh 
    rate set to 60 Hz cannot be used with this 
    unit.

    Using a Media Card
    By inserting a media card into the TV, you can easily view photos taken with a digital camera or 
    videos taken with a JVC digital media camera “Everio”.
    Supported Media Cards and file formats
    „Readable Media Cards
    SD Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick (Memory Stick PRO is not supported), xD-Picture 
    Card, CompactFlash and Microdrive Hard Disk for JVC digital media camera “Everio”.
    • Do not use any media card that is not specified. Otherwise, it may cause a malfunction.
    • Please read the instruction in this chapter carefully. Improper handling may destroy the data on 
    a card or cause other problems to the TV and the card. JVC will not be responsible for any 
    problems due to improper handling.
    • Operation can not be guaranteed if a card conversion adapter is used.

    *1: Only Microdrive Hard Disk usable for JVC digital media camera “Everio” has been confirmed.
    • Cards that are not listed above may not be operable or the data may be erased.
    • The above operation confirmed cards are not fully guaranteed to work with this TV.

    „Compatible file formats
    The file formats that are not listed below are not compatible with this TV. Even if they are listed 
    below, they are not fully guaranteed to work correctly.
    *1: MPEG-2-PS files can only be read in slot for the Microdrive Hard Disk and CompactFlash. 
    Only MPEG-2-PS recorded by JVC Digital media card camera “Everio” can be played back.
    *2: Audio must be Dolby Digital enable to playback the sound data. 
    *3: MPEG-4 files may not be detected or played back correctly.

    Inserting the Media Card
    Open the door on the left side panel by gently pushing the “PUSH-OPEN” on the door and insert 
    the Media Card. Once you have inserted the media card, the message “PLEASE CLOSE THE 
    DOOR” will appear on the screen. Then, close the door. MEDIA CARD VIEWER will start up. 
    Follow the description “Using the MEDIA CARD VIEWER” on page 43.
    Caution
    • When it cannot be inserted smoothly, do not force it but check the card direction again.
    • Do not remove the card before stopping “MEDIA CARD VIEWER”. Otherwise, the TV 
    may not operate properly or the data on the card may be destroyed.
    • If you do not close the door, it will not operate.
    • Recognition of the card can take significantly more time if the card contains a large number of 
    files.
    • When a message “NO MEDIA DETECTED” appears, insert the card again.

    Using the MEDIA CARD 
    VIEWER
    If you have two media cards inserted 
    in the card slot:
    Select the card you want to view from the 
    menu below.
    If there are no files:
    Following message will be displayed.
    1  Follow the description for the 
    function you want to use
    PHOTO:
    You can view photos that are stored on 
    your media card.
    VIDEO:
    You can view videos that are stored on 
    your media card.
    FILE:
    You can use file name to search for 
    photos and videos you want to display.
    2 Press the 4 button to stop 
    the MEDIA CARD VIEWER
    3 Remove the media card from the 
    card slot
    See “Inserting the Media Card” on 
    page 42.
    • You can also start the MEDIA CARD 
    VIEWER by choosing MEDIA CARD 
    VIEWER (see page 33) in the 
    FEATURES menu.
    • Displaying interval of photos may vary 
    depending on the size of the file.
    • Noise may appear during the slideshow.
    • When each file uses a different recording 
    format, the screen is temporarily 
    disturbed.
    • Only the first 8 characters of the 
    FOLDER or FILE name are displayed. 
    Double-byte characters cannot be 
    displayed.
    • Folders and files are displayed in 
    alphabetical order.
    • The date will not be displayed when there 
    is no information in the file.
    • Motion JPEG is not compatible with this 
    TV.
    • Files edited or saved on your PC may not

    The slide show starts.
    To pause:
    Press the a button. To play again, press

    To stop:

    To select:
    Press the 5 buttons.
    To rotate the photo:
    Press the a button to pause. Then press 
    the 6 buttons.
    • Photos are shown in alphabetical order 
    of the file names.
    • Screen size is automatically adjusted. 
    (ZOOM function is not available.)
    • The slide show interval cannot be 
    changed.
    • Rotaded photo data cannot be saved 
    (over-written) to the card.

    1 Choose VIDEO. Then press the a 
    button
    2 Press the 7 buttons to 
    choose the image. Then press the 
    a button
    The video show starts.
    To pause:
    Press the a button. To play again, press 
    the a button.
    To fast-forward/reverse:
    Press the 5 buttons.
    To stop:
    Press the b button.
    • Videos are played in alphabetical order 
    of the file names.
    • Screen size depends on the recorded 
    picture size. (ZOOM function is not 
    available.)

    • Operations other th an play/pause/stop 
    can not be made.
    • When different types of file format is  placed under the same  folder, files may 
    not be played back correctly. Be sure 
    to place the files into a separate folders 
    for each format.

    Additional preparation
    Connecting external equipment
    Connect the equipment to the TV, making 
    the correct rear panel and front panel 
    connections.
    Before connecting anything:
    • Read the manuals that came with the 
    equipment.
    Depending on the equipment, the 
    connection method may be different from 
    the diagram. Also, the equipment settings 
    may need to change depending on the 
    connection method.
    • Turn off all the equipment including the TV.• The “Specifications” on page 54 give the 
    details of the VIDEO terminals. If you are 
    connecting equipment not listed in the 
    following connection diagram, see the 
    table to choose the best VIDEO terminal.
    • Connecting cables are not supplied.
    • If the VCR’s audio output is in mono, 
    connect the VCR’s AUDIO OUT (audio 
    output) terminal and the TV’s VIDEO-3 
    AUDIO L terminal with an audio cable.
    • Use the supplied cable to connect the 
    component device to the VIDEO-1 
    COMPONENT Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr terminal.

    „Connecting headphones
    Connect the headphones with a stereo mini-
    jack (3.5 mm diameter) to the headphone 
    jack.
    • No sound comes from the TV speakers 
    when the headphones are connected.
    „TV output from the OUT terminal
    The video/sound signal of a TV channel you 
    are viewing is always output from the OUT 
    terminal.
    • No signal will output through the S VIDEO 
    terminal when you are not viewing images 
    coming from the S VIDEO input. In this 
    case, use the VIDEO terminal instead of 
    the S VIDEO terminal.
    • Changing over a programme number (PR) 
    also changes over the TV output from the 
    OUT terminal.
    • When using the VIDEO-1 COMPONENT 
    Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr terminal input, VIDEO-3 
    COMPONENT input VIDEO-4 (HDMI) 
    input or PC IN input, the sound signal is 
    output from the OUT terminal but the 
    picture signal is not output.
    • Teletext programmes cannot be output.
    „Connecting speakers/amplifier
    While referring to the audio equipment 
    connection diagram, connect the audio 
    equipment you want to the TV.
    You can use external front speakers to listen 
    to the TV sound instead of the TV speakers.
    Before connecting anything:
    • Read the manuals provided with the 
    amplifier and speakers.
    • Turn the TV and amplifier off.
    • Note that connecting cables are not 
    supplied.
    • The output from the OUT terminal is not 
    interrupted by headphone connection to 
    the TV. You cannot cut the sound from 
    the front speaker even if you connect a 
    headphone to the TV.
    • Adjust the volume of the external 
    speakers with the amplifier.
