Configure the HBAs — BIOS enable
VirtualConnectManager(VCM)usersshouldskiptoStep3-VirtualConnectManager.
Step 2a – QLogic HBAs
1.Whiletheserverisbooting,pressCtrl+QtoenterFast!UTIL....

b.DetermineyourvirtualizationstrategybyusingfactorysuppliedEthernetMACaddresses
andfibrechannelWWNsorhavethevirtualconnectvirtualizethem.
c.Determinetheoversubscriptionratiotouse.
d.DetermineifyouwilluseVCMtoconfigurebootpathinformationfortheHBAsorwillperform
thisstepthroughtheHBABIOSwhichisthedefault.
2.LogintotheVirtualConnectManager(VCM)onyourc-Classenclosure.
3.ItisrecommendedthatyoufollowtheVCMsetupwizardstosetupandconfiguretheVCdomain,
networkandfibrechannelparameters....

2.Enablethezone.
NOTE:
If your array firmware is in Active/Passive mode, then you must zone in the active port for your
Boot From SAN configuration. For more information about active-standby (Active/Passive)
controller types, see 3 Troubleshooting, page 41.
Step 4c – Create a LUN
CreateaseparateLUNforeachBootfromSANserverusingtheappropriateprocedure(s)here.After
completingStep4c-CreateaLUN,VCMusersshouldskiptoStep6-Installtheoperatingsystem.

1.Whiletheserverisbooting,pressCtrl+QtoenterFast!UTIL.
2.FromtheSelectHostAdaptermenu,selecttheHBAyouwanttoboot,andthenpressEnter.
3.FromtheFast!UTILoptionsmenu,selectConfigurationSettings,andthenpressEnter.
4.SelectSelectableBootSettings,andthenpressEnter.
5.FromtheSelectableBootSettingsmenu,selecttheSelectable Boot option,movethecursorto
Primary Boot Port Name,LUN,andthenpressEnter.
6.SelectPrimary Boot Port Name, LUN,thenpressEnter....

1.DownloadthelatestbootfromSANdriverfilesfromthewebsite

2.CreateadriverdiskettethatcontainstheHBAdriverfiles.
3.InserttheWindowsoperatingsystemCD-ROM.
4.Reboottheserver.
5.PresstheF6keywhenprompted.
6.Whenthesetupprogrampromptsyoutospecifyanadditionaldevice,selectS = Specify Addi-
tional Device.
7.InserttheHBAdriverdiskettethatyoucreatedinStep2,orconnecttheUSBkeydrivetoaUSB
port.
8.SelecttheappropriateHBAfromthelistofdevicesdisplayed....
