							Power button board

Power button board (includes cable) 639451-001
Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.Remove the battery (see 
Battery on page 48), and then remove the following components:
●Optical drive (see 
Optical drive on page 49)
●Hard drive (see 
Hard drive on page 51)
●Keyboard (see 
Keyboard on page 56)
●Top cover (see 
Top cover on page 59)
Remove the power button board:
1.Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
2.Remove the Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screw (1) that secures the power button board to the top cover.
3.Remove the power button board and cable (2).
Reverse this procedure to install the power button board.

							TouchPad button board

Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.Remove the battery (see 
Battery on page 48), and then remove the following components:

Remove the TouchPad button board and cable:
1.Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
2.Release the ZIF connector to which the TouchPad LED board cable is connected, and then
disconnect the TouchPad LED board cable (1) from the TouchPad button board.
3.Release the tape (2) that secures the TouchPad button board cable to the top cover.
4.Lift the front edge of the TouchPad button board (3) until it is released from the clips built into
the top cover.

							5.Remove the TouchPad button board (4) and cable.
Reverse this procedure to install the TouchPad button board and cable.
TouchPad LED board

TouchPad LED board (includes cable) 640292-001
Before removing the TouchPad LED board, follow these steps:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

							3.Detach the TouchPad LED board (2) from the top cover. (The TouchPad LED board is attached
to the top cover with double-sided tape.)
4.Remove the TouchPad LED board and cable.
Reverse this procedure to install the TouchPad LED board and cable.

							Speakers

Before removing the speakers, follow these steps:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

							Optical drive cable
NOTE:The optical drive cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 639442-001. The
optical drive cable includes the optical drive connector.
Before removing the optical drive cable, follow these steps:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

1.Close the computer.
2.Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you.
3.Release the clips (1) that secure the optical drive connector to the base enclosure.
4.Release the optical drive connector (2) from the base enclosure.
5.Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.

							6.Open the computer.
7.Disconnect the optical drive cable (1) from the system board.
8.Release the optical drive cable (2) from the clips built into the base enclosure.
9.Remove the optical drive cable.
