    							Webcam/microphone module
    NOTE:This section applies only to computer models equipped with BrightView display assemblies.
    See 
    Display assembly on page 76 for webcam/microphone module removal instructions for computer
    models equipped with AntiGlare display assemblies.
    NOTE:If it has been determined that the webcam/microphone module is the component that must be
    replaced to complete the computer repair, the display assembly does not have to be removed. Follow
    the procedures in this section to replace the webcam/microphone module. For information on replacing
    the display assembly and other display assembly internal components, see 
    Display assembly
    on page 76.

    Webcam/microphone module for use only with computer models equipped with BrightView display
    assemblies (includes double-sided tape)486791-001
    Before removing the webcam/microphone module, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 52).
    Remove the webcam/microphone module:
    1.Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you.
    2.Open the computer as far as possible.
    3.Flex the inside edges of the top edge (1) and the left and right upper corners (2) of the display bezel
    until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.

    							4.Release the display bezel top edge (3) from the display enclosure.
    5.Release the webcam/microphone module (1) from the display enclosure as far as the webcam/
    microphone module cable allows.
    6.Disconnect the webcam/microphone module cable (2) from the webcam/microphone module.
    7.Remove the webcam/microphone module.
    Reverse this procedure to install the webcam/microphone module.

    Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 52).
    Remove the optical drive:
    1.Position the computer with front toward you.
    2.Remove the Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screw (1) that secures the optical drive to the computer.
    3.Insert a thin tool, such as a paper clip (2), into the disc tray release access hole. (The optical drive
    disc tray is partially ejected from the optical drive.)

    							4.Use the disc tray frame to slide the optical drive (3) out of the computer.
    5.Remove the optical drive.
    6.If it is necessary to replace the optical drive bracket, position the optical drive with the optical drive
    bracket toward you.
    7.Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (1) that secure the optical drive bracket to the optical
    drive.
    8.Remove the optical drive bracket (2).
    Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install the optical drive.

    							TV tuner module
    NOTE:The TV tuner module spare part kits do not include a TV tuner module cable. The TV tuner
    module cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 501891-001.
    NOTE:The TV tuner external antenna cables are available using spare part numbers 482900-001
    (with F-PAL jack) and 482900-002 (with PAL jack).

    Before removing the TV tuner module, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 52).
    Remove the TV tuner module:
    1.Position the computer with the front toward you
    2.Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screw (1) that secures the Mini Card module compartment
    cover to the computer.
    3.Lift the right side of the Mini Card module compartment cover (2), swing it to left, and remove the
    cover (3). The Mini Card module compartment cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part
    number 486793-001.
    4.Disconnect the TV tuner module antenna cable (1) from the terminal on the TV tuner module.

    							5.Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (2) that secure the TV tuner module to the computer.
    (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)
    6.Remove the TV tuner module (3) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.
    NOTE:The TV tuner module is designed with a notch (4) to prevent incorrect insertion into the
    TV tuner module slot.
    Reverse this procedure to install the TV tuner module.

    							RTC battery
    NOTE:Removing the RTC battery and leaving it uninstalled for 5 or more minutes causes all
    passwords and CMOS settings to be cleared.

    Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 52).
    5.Remove the Mini Card module compartment cover (see 
    TV tuner module on page 57).
    Remove the RTC battery:
    Remove the RTC battery from the socket on the system board.
    Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery. Be sure that the RTC battery is installed with the “+”
    sign facing up.

    Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 52).
    Remove the memory module:
    1.Position the computer with the front toward you.
    2.Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screw (1) that secures the memory module compartment
    cover to the computer.
    3.Lift the left edge of the cover (2), swing it up and to the right, and remove the cover (3). The memory
    module compartment cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part number 486793-001.
    4.Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory
    module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)

    							5.Remove the module (2) by pulling it away from the slot at an angle.
    NOTE:Memory modules are designed with a notch (3) to prevent incorrect insertion into the
    memory module slot.
    Reverse this procedure to install a memory module.
