1GettingStarted Thischapterdescribeshowtomaketheinitialconnectionstotheswitchandprovidesanoverview oftheWebinterface. Connectingtheswitchtoanetwork ToenableremotemanagementoftheswitchthroughaWebbrowser,theswitchmustbeconnected tothenetwork.Theswitchispre-configuredwithanIPaddressformanagementpurposes.After initialconfiguration,theswitchcanalsobeconfiguredtoacquireitsaddressfromaDHCPserver onthenetwork. Bydefault,theswitchisassignedthefollowingstaticIPinformationforaccesstotheWebinterface: •IPaddress:192.168.2.10 •Networkmask:255.255.255.0 •Gateway:0.0.0.0 1.ConnecttheswitchtothemanagementPCortothenetworkusinganyoftheavailablenetwork ports. 2.Powerontheswitch. 3.SettheIPaddressofthemanagementPC’snetworkadaptortobeinthesamesubnetasthe switch. Example:SetittoIPaddress192.168.2.12,mask255.255.255.0. 4.EntertheIPaddressshownaboveintheWebbrowser.See“Operatingsystemandbrowser support”(page7)forwebbrowserrequirements. Thereafter,usetheWebinterfacetoconfigureadifferentIPaddressorconfiguretheswitchasa DHCPclientsothatitreceivesadynamicallyassignedIPaddressfromthenetwork. NOTE: •IfyouenableDHCPforIPnetworkconfiguration,theswitchmustbeconnectedtothesame networkastheDHCPserver.YouwillneedtoaccessyourDHCPservertodeterminetheIP addressassignedtotheswitch. •TheswitchsupportsLLDP(LinkLayerDiscoveryProtocol),allowingdiscoveryofitsIPaddress fromaconnecteddeviceormanagementstation. •IfDHCPisusedforconfigurationandtheswitchfailstobeconfigured,theIPaddress 192.168.2.10isreassigned.
