4 GETTING STARTED • Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the plastic band around the power plug. • Remove and save literature. • Please visit www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty. • Before first use, wash grill plates, drip tray, and drip cup according to instructions in the CARE AND CLEANING section of this manual. 5 • Place the drip tray under the front edge of the lower grill plate and the drip cup under the drain spout of the upper grill plate. (See diagram.) • Once grill is preheated, carefully place foods onto the grill plates. (See TEMPERATURE GUIDE FOR OPEN GRILL COOKING) Note: Always use heat proof plastic, nylon, or wood utensils to avoid scratching the ceramic plates. 6 TEMPERATURE GUIDE FOR OPEN GRILL COOKING **For best results, use HIGH/SEAR temperature setting when cooking in the open grill position. The following chart is meant to be used as a guideline only.
