Using the EZ Pad touchpad
The EZ Pad™ consists of a touchpad, two buttons, and a scroll zone.
When you move your finger on the touchpad, the pointer (arrow) on the 
screen moves in the same direction.

Adjusting the volume
You can use the volume controls to adjust the overall volume and the 
volume of specific sound devices in your notebook.
To adjust the overall volume level using hardware controls:
■If you are using external speakers, turn the knob on the front of the 
speakers.
-OR-
Use the mute and volume control buttons on the keyboard. For more 
information, see “Multi-function buttons” on page 34.

Using the DVD drive
You can use your notebook to enjoy a wide variety of multimedia features.
Identifying drive types
Your Gateway notebook may contain one of the following drive types. 
Look on the front of the drive for one or more of the following logos:

Inserting a CD or DVD
To insert a CD or DVD:
1Press the eject button on the DVD drive. After the tray opens slightly, 
pull the disc tray completely open.
2Place the disc in the tray with the label facing up, then press down 
carefully on the disc until it snaps into place.
3Push the tray in until it is closed.
ImportantSome music CDs have copy protection software. 
You may not be able to play these CDs on your 
notebook.
