21 Trip Information Page The third main page is the Trip Information Page. If you are making a long trip, you will fi nd the Trip Information Page very useful. It indicates your current speed, average speed, trip odometer and many other helpful statistics about your trip. The following suggestions will help you obtain the maximum benefi t from the Trip Information Page: • Be certain to reset the Trip Information before beginning the trip. Instructions on resetting will follow. • If you make frequent stops, leave the GPS V powered on and receiving satellites. This will allow the unit to accurately measure elapsed time during the trip. How- ever, some vehicles disconnect power to the cigarette lighter when the ignition is turned off. In order to continue receiving satellites, use batteries and the cigarette lighter adapter for your trip. When external power is removed, the unit will then ask, with a screen prompt, if it can use the batteries when vehicle power is not available. Speed—Your current vehicle speed can be indicated in miles per hour, knots or kilometers per hour. Trip Odometer—The running total of distance traveled, based upon the distance between second-by-second location readings, since the Trip Information was last reset. Overall Avg—Your average speed of travel (including time stopped) during the time the GPS V was on and tracking your location (and since the Trip Information was last reset). Moving Time—The length of time that the vehicle has been in motion, since the Trip Information was last reset. Total Time—The total length of time that the GPS V has been tracking your loca- tion, since the Trip Information was last reset. This is always equal to Moving Time plus Stopped Time. Current Location—Your current position is displayed in latitude/longitude coordi- nates at the bottom left corner of the page. Current Time and Date—The current time and date appears in the lower right corner of the screen. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour format and in local time or universal (UTC) time.
