     1  Display the setup menu.1.1 Press  MENU/OK to display the menu for the current mode.
    1.2 Press the command dial left to highlight the tab for the current menu.

    Set the camera clock ( P 17).
    NN TIME DIFFERENCE TIME DIFFERENCE((default: default: hh))
    Switch the camera clock instantly from your home time zone to the local time at your destination when traveling.  To specify th e 
    diff erence between local time and your home time zone:
     
    1 Highlight  g LOCAL  and press MENU/OK.
     
    2 Use the command dial to choose the time diff erence between local time and your home time zone.  Press  MENU/OK when 
    settings are complete.
    To set the camera clock to local time, highlight g  LOCAL and press MENU/OK.  To set the clock to the time in your home time 
    zone, select h HOME.  If g LOCAL  is selected, g will be displayed for three seconds when the camera is turned on.

    Choose a language (P 17).

    Reset shooting or setup menu options to default values. F DATE/TIME,  N TIME DIFFERENCE,

    1 Highlight the desired option and press the command dial right.
     
    2 A confi rmation dialog will be displayed; highlight OK and press MENU/OK.

    Select  ON to disable the speaker, fl ash, and illuminator in situations in which camera sounds or lights may be unwelcome (note 
    that silent mode can not be enabled or disabled during movie playback). Silent mode can also be turned on or off   using the 
    DISP/BACK button as described on page 5.

    New pictures are stored in image fi les named using a four-digit fi le number assigned by adding one to the 
    last fi le number used.  The fi le number is displayed during playback as shown at right.   B FRAME NO.  con-
    trols whether fi le numbering is reset to 0001 when a new memory card is inserted or the current memory 
    card is formatted. Frame number

    CONTINUOUSCONTINUOUS Numbering continues from the last fi le number used or the fi rst available fi le number, whichever is higher.
      
    Choose this option to reduce the number of pictures with duplicate fi le names.
    RENEWRENEW Numbering is reset to 0001 after formatting or when a new memory card is inserted.
     
    R If the frame number reaches 999-9999, the shutter release will be disabled ( P 116).
     
    R Selecting R  RESET (P 88)  sets  B FRAME NO.  to CONTINUOUS but does not reset the fi le number.
     
    R Frame numbers for pictures taken with other cameras may diff  er.

    Choose the direction in which the focus ring is rotated to increase the focus distance.

    If  ON is selected, view through the lens will automatically be magnifi ed in the display to assist focus when the focus ring is 
    rotated in manual focus mode (P 47).

    to disable control sounds.

    able the shutter sound.

     IMAGE DISP. IMAGE  DISP. Choose how long images are displayed after shooting.  Colors may diff
     er slightly from those in the fi nal 
    image and “noise” mottling may be visible at high sensitivities.
    •  CONTINUOUS: Pictures are displayed until the MENU/OK button is pressed or the shutter button is pressed 
    halfway.  To zoom in on the active focus point, press the center of the command control; press again 
    to cancel zoom.
    •  1.5 SEC,  0.5 SEC: Pictures are displayed for 1.5 seconds (1.5 SEC) or 0.5 seconds (0.5 SEC) or until the 
    shutter button is pressed halfway.
    •  OFF: Pictures are not displayed after shooting.
     EVF/LCD BRIGHTNESS EVF/LCD  BRIGHTNESS Control the brightness of the display.
     MONITOR SUNLIGHT MODE MONITOR SUNLIGHT MODE
    Select ON to make the display in the monitor easier to read in bright light ( P 119).
     AUTOROTATE PB AUTOROTATE  PBChoose ON to automatically rotate “tall” (portrait-orientation) pictures during playback.

    Adjust power management settings.

     AUTO POWER OFF AUTO POWER OFF Choose the length of time before the camera turns off
      automatically when no operations are performed.  
    Shorter times reduce the drain on the battery; if  OFF is selected, the camera must be turned off  manually.  
    Note that in some situations the camera turns off    automatically even when OFF is selected.
    HIGH PERFORMANCEHIGH PERFORMANCESelect 
    ON for faster focus and to reduce the time needed to restart the camera after it has been turned off   
    (P 16).
     G G OVF POWER SAVE MODE OVF POWER SAVE MODE((default: default: OFF)OFF)
    Select  ON to reduce power consumption and increase the number of pictures that can be taken on a single charge when pic-
    tures are framed in the optical viewfi nder.

    View the approximate number of times the shutter has been released.
     
    R The count is also incremented each time the camera is turned off  , playback mode is selected, or the optical viewfi nder is 
    activated.

    Choose the gamut of colors available for color reproduction.

    The camera can be used with third-party Eye-Fi cards; for more information see the manual provided with the card or contact 
    the manufacturer.

    ONON Pictures taken with the camera are uploaded to a pre-selected destination.
    OFFOFF Pictures are not uploaded automatically.
     
    Q Observe local regulations regarding the use of wireless devices when using Eye-Fi cards.  Select  OFF in aircraft, hospitals, 
    and other locations where the use of wireless devices is prohibited; note that even when the camera is turned off  , wireless 
    transmission will continue until upload is complete.

    The supplied software can be used to copy pictures to a computer, where they can be stored, viewed, 
    organized, and printed.  Before proceeding, install the software as described below.  Do 
    NOT connect 
    the camera to the computer until installation is complete.

     3  Exit any applications that may be running and insert the installer CD in a CD-ROM drive.

    If an AutoPlay dialog is displayed, click  SETUP.EXE.  A “User Account Control” dialog will then be displayed; 
    click Ye s  ( Windows 8/Windows 7) or  Allow ( Windows Vista).
     The installer will start automatically; click Install MyFinePix Studio  and follow the on-screen in-
    structions to install MyFinePix Studio and RAW FILE CONVERTER.

    If the installer does not start automatically, select  Computer or My Computer from the Start menu, then 
    double-click the FINEPIX CD icon to open the FINEPIX CD window and double-click  setup or SETUP.EXE.

    1 Select Desktop on the Start screen.
    2 Select File Explorer on the taskbar.
    3 Select Computer in the navigation pane.
    4  Double-click the drive icon inserting the FINEPIX CD and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
     4 If prompted to install Windows Media Player or DirectX, follow the on-screen instructions to com-
    plete installation.
     5 Remove the installer CD from the CD-ROM drive when installation is complete.  Store the installer CD in a dry location out of direct sunlight in case you need to re-install the software.
    Installation is now complete.  Proceed to “Connecting the Camera” ( P 97).

     Macintosh: Installing RAW FILE CONVERTER Macintosh: Installing RAW FILE CONVERTER
    RAW FILE CONVERTER is used to view RAW images on your computer.
     1  Confi rm that the computer meets the following system requirements:

    OSOSPre-installed copies of Mac OS X version 10.6–10.8 (visit http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/
    compatibility/ for more information).

     2 After starting the computer and quitting any applications that may be running, insert the installer 
    CD in a CD-ROM drive and double-click  SILKYRFCEXInstaller.
     3 Enter an administrator name and password when prompted and click OK, then follow the on-
    screen instructions to install.  Click  Exit to quit the installer when installation is complete.
     4 Remove the installer CD from the CD-ROM drive.  Note that you may be unable to remove the CD 
    if Safari is running; if necessary, quit Safari before removing the CD.  Store the installer CD in a dry 
    location out of direct sunlight in case you need to re-install the software.
    Installation is now complete.  Proceed to “Connecting the Camera” ( P 97).
