Referallrepairs toqualified servicepersonnel. • Unplug theprojector fromthewall outlet andrefer servicing toqualified servicepersonnel underthe following conditions: ifitdoes notoperate normally whenyoufollow theoperating instructions, or exhibits adistinct change inperformance; ifsmoke, strange odors,orstrange noisescomefromthe projector; ifthe power cordorplug isdamaged orfrayed; ifliquid orforeign objects getinside the projector, orifithas been exposed torain orwater; ifithas been dropped orthe housing hasbeen damaged. • Do not touch theplug during anelectrical storm.Otherwise, youmay receive anelectric shock. • Unplug theprojector whenitwill not beused forextended periods. • Do not use theprojector whereitmay beexposed torain, water, orexcessive humidity. • Do not use theprojector whereitmay beexposed tosmoke, corrosive gases,orexcessive dust. • Do not use orstore theprojector orremote controlinahot location, suchasnear aheater, indirect sunlight, orinaclosed vehicle. • Ifyou usetheprojector inacountry otherthanwhere youpurchased it,use thecorrect powercordfor that country. • Do not stand onthe projector orplace heavy objects onit. • Do not use theprojector outsideofthe required temperature rangeof41 to95 ºF (5 to35 ºC). Doing so may cause anunstable displayandcould leadtoprojector damage. • Do not store theprojector outsideofthe required temperature rangeof14 to140 ºF (– 10 to60 ºC) or in direct sunlight forlong periods oftime. Doing somay cause damage tothe case. • Do not place anything thatcanbecome warpedordamaged byheat near theexhaust vents.Donot bring yourhands orface close tothe vents whileprojection isin progress. • Before youmove theprojector, makesureitspower isturned off,the plug isdisconnected fromthe outlet, andallcables aredisconnected. • Never trytoremove thelamp immediately afterusebecause itwill beextremely hot.Before removing the lamp, turnoffthe power andwait atleast anhour toallow thelamp tocool completely. • Do not disassemble thelamp orsubject itto impacts. • Do not place thesource ofan open flame, suchasalit candle, onornear theprojector. 131
• Do not block thelens during projection usingabook orany object otherthanthelens cover. Thiscould damage theprojector orcause afire. • Do not modify thepower cord.Donot place heavy objects ontop ofthe power cordorbend, twist,or pull itexcessively. Keepthepower cordaway fromhotelectrical appliances. • Ifthe lamp breaks, ventilate theroom toprevent gasescontained inthe lamp frombeing inhaled or coming incontact withyour eyes ormouth. Ifyou doinhale gasesorgases comeincontact withyour eyes ormouth, seekmedical adviceimmediately. • Ifthe projector ismounted overhead andthelamp breaks, becareful toprevent piecesofglass from falling intoyour eyes when youopen thelamp cover. Note: Thelamp(s) inthis product containmercury. Pleaseconsult yourstate andlocal regulations regarding disposalorrecycling. Donot putinthe trash. Limited Warranty forEpson Products Epson products arecovered bywarranty againstdefectsinworkmanship andmaterials whenoperated under normal useand handling conditions, asindicated inthe product documentation, forthe period specified insection Limited Warranty Coverage. Coveragebeginsasofthe date ofdelivery tothe purchaser byEpson orby an authorized Epsondealer(seeEpson Subsidiaries andOffices inLatin America below),inthe country ofpurchase. Epson alsoguarantees thattheconsumables (inkcartridges, toner,batteries) includedwiththeproduct, will perform according tothe usage specifications aslong asthey areused priortothe expiration oftheir warranty period. 2. Scope ofWarranty Should Epsonreceive noticeofadefect during thewarranty period,itmay, atits discretion, repairor replace thedefective productatno cost tothe purchaser. Inthe event ofareplacement, thereplaced equipment willbecome property ofEpson. Thereplaced itemmay benew orpreviously repairedtothe Epson standard ofquality, andwillassume theremaining warrantyperiodofthe product thatwas originally purchased. This warranty doesnotinclude anycompensation ordamages whatsoever, resultingfromtheoperating failures ofthe Epson product. Inany event, Epsons maximum liabilitytoward thepurchaser willbe limited tothe purchase pricepaidtoEpson ortothe authorized dealer. Epsons warranty doesnotcover anysoftware notmanufactured byEpson, evenwhen delivered withan Epson product. Thesoftware mayhave awarranty provided bythe manufacturer, asindicated inthe documentation attachedthereto. 3. Limitations andExclusions The warranty willbeinvalid inthe following cases: 3.1 When theproducts serialnumber hasbeen removed oraltered. 133
3.2 When theproduct hasbeen misused, hasundergone unauthorized modifications, hasbeen usedor stored inways thatarenotincompliance withtheenvironmental specificationsofthe product. 3.3 When thedamage resultedfromtheuse ofrefilled supplies orconsumables, orwhen damages are the result ofuse ofmedia thatdoes notmeet theproducts specifications. 3.4 When damages resultedfromtheinappropriate transportofthe equipment (packaging, installation, maintenance, transportation). 3.5 When damages werecaused bynatural orintentional disasters(fire,floods, lightning, earthquakes, etc.), power surges, orinteraction withother brand products. 3.6 When theproduct hasbeen totally orpartially disassembled, orhas been repaired otherthanbyan Epson Authorized ServiceCenter. 3.7 When substances havebeen spilled onthe product. 3.8 When theexternal plasticcasehasbeen scratched orabused. 3.9 When damages resultedfrominappropriate tests,installation, maintenance oradjustments. The warranty doesnotextend toaccessories (lids,covers, trays)orreplenishing suppliesand consumables (inkcartridges, toner,inkribbons, batteries, photosensitive units,knobs, printheads, lamps), which,duetotheir nature, mustberegularly purchased throughauthorized dealers. 4. How toObtain Warranty Service Please refertothe user documentation toensure thattheproduct settings havebeen properly setand to perform thediagnostic testsindicated therein.Furthermore, inorder forthe unit tooperate optimally, always useoriginal Epsonsupplies andconsumables. To obtain warranty service,thepurchaser maytaketheproduct toany Authorized EpsonService Center, alongwithproof ofpurchase, orcall any ofthe Epson Technical Assistance Centers(see Service Centers below). Upon calling anAuthorized EpsonService Center,thepurchaser willbeasked toprovide theproduct model andserial numbers, andmay beasked toprovide information onthe location andthedate of purchase (thewarranty isonly valid inthe country ofpurchase). If there arenoAuthorized ServiceCenters inyour area, calltheTechnical Assistance Centerforservice referral. 5. Responsibilities ofPurchaser The purchaser isresponsible forthe safety ofall confidential andproprietary information storedonthe product, aswell asfor recovery backupfilesincase ofdamage. Anyactivity related withthere- installation orresetting ofthe software thatwas delivered withtheequipment, willbebilled tothe 134
purchaser atthe rates ineffect atthe Epson Service Center.Thisalsoapplies ifthe failure wastheresult of adefect inthe purchasers proprietarysoftwareorofacomputer virus. In order toobtain on-site service, thelatter willberequired toprovide: accesstothe product; an appropriate workingarea;access toelectrical facilities;accesstothe resources thatmay benecessary for the installation, repairormaintenance ofthe unit; asafety environment forEpson staffandtheir work tools. 6.
